There are 4 stored owner reports matching the fuel system leading-label group for the 2018 Tesla Model X in our NHTSA-sourced dataset. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
This group counts stored reports whose component label starts with one of this site's matching prefixes, ignoring case. Each matching report counts once within the group. Components mentioned later in the label or only in the narrative are not searched. How component counts work

Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)Car lost power on the highway suddenly while driving at highway speeds and would not start after we pulled over off the highway. Took a picture of all the alerts. This is the second catastrophic event with this vehicle due to the HV battery. Event: 11:32am November 27,2025. Was needed to be towed to service center. BMS u008 error displayed on screen among others. No alerts until the immediate loss of power. After the Tesla service center ran diagnostics they discovered that the HV battery failed and needed to be replaced. This put my entire family (wife and two children) at risk to a major accident again due to the sudden deceleration of the vehicle and being rear ended by another vehicle on the highway (I was traveling at highway speeds when the failure occurred) or being unable to stop suddenly as the braking system was not effective / difficult to press the brake pedal. I used my Meta Ray Ban Smart Glasses to take a photo hands free using a voice command to capture my speed and the error that displayed when I lost power on the highway and the amount of traffic around me.
Jumped in neutral while at at a stop light. Would not go back in gear.

MOST TESLA MODEL X OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING OF AN ACCELERATION SHUDDER THAT HAPPENS DUE TO A HALFSHAFT ALIGNMENT DESIGN FLAW WIDELY ACKNOWLEDGED BY ALL TESLA SERVICE CENTERS. WHEN IT GETS WORSE DUE TO INACTION / LACK OF RECALL BY TESLA, SERIOUS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE CAN OCCUR WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM. MY ISSUE WAS FIRST NOTICED WITH LESS THAN 1,500 MILES. SERVICE CENTERS SEEM TO HAVE STOPPED REPLACING FRONT END HALF SHAFTS UNTIL REDESIGN IS DONE. BUT NO ONE KNOWS IF OR WHEN THAT MIGHT HAPPEN. TESLA NEEDS OVERSIGHT IN THIS AREA. GOOGLE "TESLA ACCELERATION SHUDDER MODEL X" AND YOU CAN READ ABOUT IT FROM HUNDREDS OF OWNERS.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
