MY VEHICLE IS A CAMRY STATION WAGON. ON THE ABOVE DATE, I WAS BACKING MY CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY & THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR.. USING MY FLOOR JACK, I CLIMBED UNDER IT & DISCOVERED THAT THE STEEL BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED DUE TO RUST IN 2 LOCATIONS- ONE BENEATH A BRACKET NEAR THE FIREWALL, AND ANOTHER AT THE REAR OF THE WAGON NEAR WHERE THE VEHICLE HEIGHT "SOLENOID" IS LOCATED. SUBSEQUENTLY, I DISCOVERED AT LEAST 3 MORE CAMRYS OF 1995 OR 1995 VINTAGE(INCLUDING ONE WAGON) FOR SALE ON WASHINGTON D.C. CRAIGSLIST WITH RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINES. MY SENSE IS THAT THEE CARS ARE SO OLD BUY YET SO RELIABLE THAT PEOPLLE ARE STILL DRIVING THEM & SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IN ONE, UNLESS SOMEONE INITIATES AN INVESTIGATION. I STILL AVE THE VEHICLE IN MY YARD IN FAIRFAX STATION VA & IF AN INVESTIGATOR WANTS TO INSPECT IT, I CAN JACK IT UP FOR THEM.. I CAN BE REACHED AT [XXX]. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING BRAKES LOCKED UP. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
I BRAKED AND SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING A METAL TANK THAT JUST FELL OFF A TRAILER IN FRONT OF ME, HIT THE TANK ON THE RIGHT FRONT, THEN DISCONTINUED BRAKING. THEN THE RIGHT FRONT, LEFT FRONT, AND RIGHT REAR TIRES COLLAPSED OFF THE RIMS. I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR, SWERVED INTO THE MEDIAN/DITCH, CAR TURNED 180 DEGREES AND ROLLED BACK (ALMOST ROLLED OVER). CAR SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT BODY AND UNDERCARRIAGE DAMAGE. DUE TO SEAT BELT USAGE, MY PASSENGER AND I SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES ONLY. I WAS TRAVELLING 50 MPH ON A 4-LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY. WEATHER WAS 90 DEGREES, SUNNY, AND DRY. IF THE TIRES HAD NOT FAILED, I WOULD HAVE HAD MINOR BODY DAMAGE ONLY. COMPLETE DOT NUMBER IS BFRWTU410202.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLED IN A REAR END COLLISON DUE TO ABS FAILURE. CONSUMER PHYSICALLY APPLIED BOTH FEET TO BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE PROBLEM. DEALER IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED DURING THE ACCIDENT. *YH
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH AND TRAVELING ON WET SURFACE, PRESSED THE BRAKE AND PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING A COLLISION . CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER. *AK
THE VEHICLE SPINNED ON THE FREEWAY FROM HARD BRAKING TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE THE FIRST INCIDENT AND FROM GENTLE BRAKING THE SECOND INCIDENT.
VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP IN TIME, STOPPING DISTANCE IS NOT AS GOOD AS IT SHOULD BE. CONTACTED DEALER,AND DEALER CHANGED CALIPERS/ DRUMS, AND MASTER CYLINDER. *AK

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND STEPPING ON THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES MAKE A GRINDING SOUND, AND THE DRIVER IS VERY CONCERNED ON SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THIS IS HOW THE BRAKES SUPPOSE TO SOUND WHEN APPLYING THEM. *AK

WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKS THERE IS A GRINDING AND KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. ALSO, OVERDRIVE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. *AK
