TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, HE NOTICED A FOREIGN PIECE OF RUBBER FOAM ON THE GROUND NEAR THE VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE WARNING PANEL UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRING HAD BEEN GNAWED ON BY A RODENT. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,945 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A DITCH, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ACCELERATING WHILE IT WAS STUCK IN THE DITCH WHICH CAUSED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE TO CATCH ON FIRE. NO ONE WAS INJURED DURING THE INCIDENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. FOUR DAYS PRIOR TO THE RECENT INCIDENT THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER, 09V388000 AND 10V017000 WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 26000.
ON MARCH 2ND MY DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AN HIT IN RUN ACCIDENT WHICH SHE WAS DRIVING A 2007 SE TOYOTA CAMRY, CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED BY THE TOYOTA DEALER. SHE WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR, SHE HAD TO BE AIRLIFTED FOR THE HEAD INJURIES SHE RECEIVED DO TO THE SIDE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING. CAR WAS TAKEN BY THE INSURANCE AND VALUED AS TOTAL LOST. SO I MY SELF BEEN OWNER OF MORE THAN 5 CAMRYS AND NOW AM AFRAID TO BUY ONE AGAIN DO TO THERE POOR SAFETY. I THINK A CAR THAT GOT HIT GOING AROUND 50MPH AND THE CAR OF THE IMPACT WAS TRAVELING 60MPH AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE OPEN CAUSE IS ANYONE GETS HIT HARDER FOR THE AIRBAGS TO OPEN WILL END UP DEAD. *TR
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) I RECEIVED A TOYOTA SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ON MY 2007 CAMRY. THE NOTICE DESCRIBED THREE SEPARATE REPAIRS/REMEDY TO MY VEHICLE. THE FIRST REPAIR INVOLVED INSTALLING A METAL SHIM IN THE GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLY, WHICH I HAD THE DEALER PERFORM. THE SECOND "REMEDY" INVOLVED A TECHNICIAN CUTTING A SECTION OFF THE END OF THE GAS PEDAL AND CUTTING OUT A SECTION OF PADDING FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS FLOOR PAN CARPET. I DECLINED THIS WORK AS I HAVE A NEWLY DESIGNED AWFM PROPERLY SECURED IN PLACE AND DO NOT BELIEVE THIS "REMEDY" WOULD RETAIN THE OEM QUALITY OF THE VEHICLE - TOYOTA SHOULD REDESIGN AND INSTALL A NEW GAS PEDAL INSTEAD. THE THIRD REPAIR INVOLVED INSTALLING A BRAKE OVERRIDE SYSTEM. OF THE THREE REPAIRS, THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AS IT OFFERS A BROAD LEVEL OF PROTECTION AGAINST UNINTENDED ACCELERATION VERSUS THE NARROW LEVEL OF PROTECTION PROVIDED BY THE OTHER TWO. WHEN I CALLED MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE BRAKE OVERRIDE SYSTEM INSTALLED THEY REFUSED TO DO THE WORK WITHOUT ALSO PERFORMING THE GAS PEDAL AND CARPET PADDING MODIFICATION "REMEDY". I EXPLAINED MY DISPUTE OVER THIS WORK AND WAS GIVEN THE NUMBER TO TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. AFTER A FORTY MINUTE WAIT I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE HILDA. SHE ALSO STATED THAT TOYOTA WAS UNWILLING TO INSTALL THE BRAKE OVERRIDE SYSTEM WITHOUT DOING THE OTHER MODIFICATION WORK. WHEN I ASKED HER FOR A REASON SHE STATED THAT TOYOTA AGREED TO NHTSA TO DO THE WORK AS A SINGLE RECALL. WHEN I PRESSED HER TO DETERMINE IF THE NHTSA REQUIRED TOYOTA TO ONLY PERFORM THE WORK IF BOTH THE REPAIR AND "REMEDY" WERE DONE TOGETHER, SHE STATED SHE WAS UNABLE TO HELP ME FURTHER AND PROVIDED ME WITH A CASE NUMBER ([XXX]). WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO MAKE MY VEHICLE SAFE? WHY IS CUTTING UP A VEHICLE WITHOUT COMMITTING TO PROPERLY REPAIRING IT AT A LATER DATE CONSIDERED ACCEPTABLE? *TR
AFTER RICE TOYOTA IN GREENSBORO "FIXED" MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY ON 2/27/2010 FOR BOTH RECALLS I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN SURGE IN ACCELERATION TWICE. ONCE FROM A STANDING START WHEN I SLIGHTLY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR SUDDENLY TOOK OFF AT A MUCH HIGHER RATE THAN I INTENDED, THE SECOND TIME WAS IN TRAFFIC WHILE ACCELERATING TO A HIGHER SPEED LIMIT THE CAR SURGED PAST THE LIMIT. PLEASE LOOK AT THE ECU'S, THIS CAR HASN'T BEEN RIGHT SINCE THE FIRST TANK OF GAS WAS USED, IT'S AS IS THE ECU ISN'T ALLOWING THE TIMING TO ADVANCE AND RETARD PROPERLY. *TR
WAS PARKING MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IN PARKING LOT BETWEEN TWO CARS WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING ME TO HIT TWO CARS IN THE SPACES ADJACENT TO THE PARKING SPACE I WAS ENTERING. AFTER STATING NOTHING WAS WRONG, TOYOTA PROVIDED AN INTERNAL BULLETIN; NOT A PUBLIC BULLETIN TO GERMAIN TOYOTA OF SARASOTA AS A RESULT THE DEALER USED A COMPUTER TO RECALIBRATE THE ECM. UPDATED 04/06/10.*JB THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE SUDDEN ACCELERATED PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE ECM. 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE -- I SAW SOMETHING ON TV THAT THERE MAY BE IN AN ISSUE WITH POWER GRIDS/ELECTRO MAGNETIC FIELDS AND THE NEWER CAMRY'S. MY WIFE HAS A 2007 CAMRY AND THERE IS FULL BLOCK IN DOWNTOWN TAMPA (NEXT TO TECO OUR HQ FOR POWER IN TAMPA) THAT HER PUSH-BUTTON START WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT WORK. INITIALLY, I THOUGHT IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE WITH THE RESPONDER AND REPLACED IT. THE PUSH BUTTON START WORKED EVERYWHERE EXCEPT NEXT TO THIS GRID AND IS STILL AN ISSUE -- WE HAVE TO PARK ONE BLOCK AWAY TO GO TO THAT AREA. ALTHOUGH, THERE ARE NO DIRECT SAFETY ISSUES WITH THIS ISSUE IT MAY BE GOOD INFORMATION FOR YOUR OVERALL STUDY. THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING THERE PREVENTING HER CAR TO WORK CORRECTLY. OTHER VEHICLES IN THIS SAME AREA HAVE THE SAME ISSUE.
I OWN A 2007 CAMRY SOLARA, MY CARS GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK WHEN I AM AT A STOP LIGHT AND PROCEED INTO TRAFFIC THE CARS MOMENTARILY STAYS IN AN IDLED POSITION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, UNTIL IT KICKS FORWARD AND ACCELERATES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AND FINANCIALLY I AM STILL PAYING FOR A CAR THAT IS PARKED, BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL IT SAFE TO DRIVE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO PUT THE CAMRY SOLARA ON THE LIST. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND WITHOUT THE RECALL THEY REFUSE TO EVEN DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR MY CAR, AT MY EXPENSE NO LESS, I DO NOT FEEL THAT SOLARA OWNERS SHOULD BE IGNORED AND FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE. I DO NOT WANT TO HURT MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE BY TAKING A CHANCE ON DRIVING A CAR THAT IS OUT OF CONTROL. PUT THE SOLARA'S ON THE RECALL LIST, AND MAKE MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS AT EASE WITH A REPAIR AND GAS PEDAL REPLACEMENT IMMEDIATELY. *TR
MY DASH PANEL IS STICKY CRACKING AND IN A STATE OF DETERIORATION . MY CONCERN IS THAT IN AN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT PARTS OF THIS CRACKED DASH COULD IMPACT MY EYES LIKE BROKEN GLASS. THIS VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT AND RARELY USED AS IT IS AT A VACATION HOME. IT DOES NOT SIT IN THE SUN OR A PARKING LOT. IT IS DETERIORATING ON ITS OWN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CAMRY XLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS FIXED FOR THE ACCELERATOR RECALL ON FEBRUARY 22, 2010. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH OR LESS, THE DRIVER NOTICED THAT HER RPMS STARTED INCREASING. WHEN SHE TOOK HER FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE TO A FRIENDS HOME THAT WAS NEARBY; HOWEVER, SHE OBSERVED THE ACCELERATOR RELEASE AND THEN WATCHED IT IMMEDIATELY GO DOWN TO THE FLOOR ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THIS FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS DIAGNOSING THE FAILURE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 65,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE RECALL WAS REPAIRED FOR THE POWER TRAIN: CLUTCH ASSEMBLY: PEDAL LINKAGE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE RAPID/SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT HAS NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF REPAIRS. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE REPAIR WILL NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE WITH THE STICKY PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. HE STATED HE ENGAGED THE BRAKE, AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT STARTED AS NORMAL. HE THEN DROVE HOME AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 56,254.
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HAD THE RECALL FIXES FOR THE GAS PEDAL AND MAT INTERFERENCE COMPLETED LAST WEEK. AS A RESULT OF THAT "REPAIR" THERE IS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL, AND THE VEHICLE IDLES VERY FAST IN REVERSE AND THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT DISENGAGE PROPERLY. ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK VSC CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON, WE CONTACTED THE TOYOTA ON FRIDAY AND SAID IT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE "REPAIR" AND THAT IT WOULD CLEAR BY ITSELF, IT HAS NOT. *TR

I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER IN REDDING, CA ABOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM WITHIN A MONTH OF OWNERSHIP; HOWEVER, THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL OPERATION. I DOUBT IT VERY MUCH, HOW THE CRUISE CONTROL RESUMES BACK TO THE SET SPEED ALMOST INSTANTLY BY RAISING THE RPM OVER 5000, WHICH WILL MAKE YOU FEEL THE CAR IS GOING OUT OF CONTROL. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING CARS FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND OWN MANY MAKES AND MODELS BUT NONE OF THEM BEHAVED IN THIS WAY. THIS WAS MY FIRST TOYOTA CAR, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THE CAR MAKER SHOULD LOOK IN TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS THAT MIGHT GIVE THEM CLUES ABOUT ACCIDENTAL ACCELERATION PROBLEMS THAT I AM HEARING REGULARLY. *TR

SHE COULD NOT SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AS IF IT WAS PREPARED TO TAKE OFF AT FULL SPEED. SHE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE DEALER, HOWEVER SHE COULD NOT GET THROUGH. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT YET BEEN CONTACTED. SHE WAS NOT AWARE IF THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER RECALL OR NOT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
I CALLED TOYOTA'S CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE LINE. I WAS HUNG UP ON TWICE BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE RECORDED MESSAGE THEY HAD TOO MANY CALLS SO I WOULD HAVE TO CALL BACK. . I THEN CALLED AGAIN AND GOT PUT ON HOLD FOR 2 HOURS AND 8 MINUTES. I WAS CALLING BECAUSE I HAD JUST COME FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND FLOOR MAT RECALL. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY 2007 CAMRY WITH JUST 29,700 MILE ON IT HAD BAD BREAK PADS AND ROTORS AND I NEED TO SPEND OVER $900 TO HAVE THE BREAKS REPAIRED. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP I NEED TO TALK WITH SOMEONE AT TOYOTA. THEY GAVE ME THE CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE NUMBER TO CALL. AFTER I REACHED A REPRESENTATIVE I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT AND GET BACK TO ME TOMORROW. BECAUSE I DID NOT RECEIVE A CALL BACK I WENT ON THE WEB AND FOUND A TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN SAYING THAT THE 2007 CAMRY HAD BAD BREAK PADS THAT WOULD CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR. IT SAID DO NOT TELL THE CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS UNLESS THEY COMPLAIN. I CALLED TOYOTA AGAIN; THIS TIME WAITED 1 HR FOR SOMEONE TO ANSWER. THEY SAID THAT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE BULLETIN T-BR007-07 WAS NOT FOR ME BUT FOR THE DEALERSHIPS. I SAID WELL IS SAYS THAT THE BREAK PADS INSTALLED IN MY CAR WE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED, SHE SAID, THAT IS ONLY IF YOU COMPLAIN. I SAID, WELL I AM COMPLAINING. THEN I ASKED TO TALK WITH A SUPERVISOR. SHE SAID THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TODAY I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT TILL MONDAY. I SAID, I HAVE A CAR THAT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, AND I WANT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE TODAY. SHE SAID THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. I SAID I WILL CALL BACK AND ASK TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR, SHE SAID NO ONE WILL LET YOU TALK TO A SUPERVISOR. TO SAY I AM UPSET IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. THE CAR COMPANY HAS AN INTERNAL DOCUMENT STATING THAT MY BREAK PADS ARE DEFECTIVE, BUT NEVER TELLS ME. I WAS JUST LUCKY THAT THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN LOOKED AT THE BREAKS WHEN ROTATING MY TIRES AND DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. I AND I AND MY FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED. WE COULD HAVE KILLED. *TR
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT WAS PART OF THE GAS PEDAL RECALL WHERE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WAS PERIODICALLY HAPPENING WITH MY CAR. I HAD THE RECALL WORK DONE ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO BUT ABOUT A WEEK AGO MY CAR WAS SPEEDING UP WHEN I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE GAS PEDAL DEPRESSED, I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE ON ME! THERE HAVE BEEN 2 MORE OCCURRENCES OF THIS SINCE THEN AND I DON'T BELIEVE THEIR REPAIRS WORKED OR ITS THE COMPUTER OR ELECTRICAL OR SOMETHING, I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ARE HAVING ME BRING IT BACK IN BUT THEY AREN'T SURE WHAT ELSE CAN BE DONE SINCE THEY ALREADY FIXED THE RECALLED PEDAL. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, IT VIBRATES STRONGLY, ALMOST VIOLENTLY, AT SPEED ABOVE APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES/HOUR. WHEN RAINING OR NOT. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY STATED IT WAS NORMAL ABS BRAKING. IT DOES SCARE ME IN THAT I AM AFRAID THAT IT COULD LEAD TO A MAJOR FAILURE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. IT HAS BEEN A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM ALTHOUGH I ENTERED TODAY'S DATE BELOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SOLARA. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 25 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN ACCURATE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 24,000.

HE STATED HE HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE TACHOMETER REACHED OVER 7,000 RPM'S. HE IMMEDIATELY GRABBED THE SHIFT LEVER AND SWITCH IT TO NEUTRAL AND THEN AS RAPIDLY AS POSSIBLE TO PARK. THE CONSUMER STATED THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. THE CONSUMER STATED A SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN WHILE PARKING AT A LOCAL BANK. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH, WHILE CHANGING LANES THE CONTACT COULD NOT CONTROL THE STEERING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND TO HER STEERING. SHE DID NOT DEPRESS THE BRAKE, SHE JUST TRIED TO STEER THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT BUT IT KEPT STEERING TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE THEN CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE.THE POLICE DID ARRIVE TO THE SCENE BUT NO REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER BEFORE THE ACCIDENT THAT SHE WAS HEARING NOISES IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER FIXED THE ALIGNMENT OF THE VEHICLE AT NO COST TO HER. THE RPM GOES FROM 2000 TO 4000 RPM, AND AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS OF DELAY CAR PICKS UP. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION IN COLD WEATHER: THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2007 ( 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE 4 CYL ENGINE, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THIS OCCURS DURING COLD WEATHER ( LESS THAN 30 F) AND DURING THE FIRST 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WHEN I AM DRIVING WITH LIGHT PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR AND REMOVE MY FOOT TO SLOW DOWN, THE CAR ABRUPTLY SLOWS DOWN AFTER 1 TO 2 SECONDS (TACHOMETER DROPS FROM 1800 RPM TO 1000 RPM) AND MAKES A CLUNKING SOUND. AFTER 1 TO 4 SECONDS, WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE CAR WILL THEN SPEED UP ( ANOTHER CLUNKING SOUND FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN). THE TACHOMETER JUMPS FROM 1000 TO 2000 RPM APPROXIMATELY. THE VEHICLE HAS SINCE HAD THE "ACCELERATOR PEDAL FIXED" AS A RESULT OF TOYOTA'S MOST RECENT RECALL. HOWEVER, THE CAR CONTINUES TO RANDOMLY "ACCELERATE". I DO NOT BELIEVE THE PEDAL WAS EVER THE PROBLEM AND IN LIGHT OF THE CURRENT NUMBER OF REPORTED INCIDENTS, I HAVE LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT TO REPORT THESE INCIDENTS BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SAME AS THE MORE CRITICAL REPORTS AND THAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS STILL UNKNOWN AND THE NATURE OF MY INCIDENT IS PROBABLY HAPPENING TO ALOT OF DRIVERS BUT THEY EITHER DON'T REALIZE IT OR THINK IT IS NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO REPORT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH AND ATTEMPTING A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO JERK TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE FELT AS IF SOMETHING WAS STUCK IN THE STEERING WHEEL. PRIOR TO THE STEERING ISSUE, THE STEERING WAS REPAIRED UNDER AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER'S STEERING RECALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER RE-CALIBRATED THE STEERING. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT EXHIBIT ANY FAILURES PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE POTENTIAL OF A CRASH WITH THE STEERING WHEEL JERKING ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

HELLO, I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID AND I HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE MY DRIVER DOOR OPENED ON IT'S OWN. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH AND MY KNEE WAS RESTING ON THE DRIVER DOOR (NOT PUTTING TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE DOOR) WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT POPPED OPENED. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE I SHUT THE DOOR COMPLETELY BEFORE I DRIVE OFF AND IT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS THE DOORS BY ITSELF. MY KNEE WAS NO WHERE NEAR THE DOOR HANDLE AND THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THIS TO EVER HAPPEN TO ANYONE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS DONE THIS TO ME AND I'VE HAD IT FOR 3 YEARS, BUT I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 15,000 MILES ON IT. I NOTICED THAT THE ROAD WAS QUITE BUMPY AND I FEEL THAT CAUSED THE LATCH TO OPEN. I'M CONCERNED BECAUSE IF THIS HAPPEN TO ME IN THE FRONT SEAT, WHO IS TO SAY THIS CAN'T HAPPEN IN THE BACK SEAT WHERE SMALL CHILDREN OFTEN RIDE. THIS MAY NEVER HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN OR IT COULD VERY WELL HAPPEN TOMORROW, BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD BRING ATTENTION TO THIS ISSUE JUST IN CASE THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *TR
