THE VVT-I LINE FROM BANK 1 FAILED AND OIL LEAKED ALL OVER MY DRIVEWAY. THE CAR WAS 4.3 QUARTS LOW. NO SPECIFIC ACTION TOOK PLACE TO CAUSE THIS OTHER THAN A DEFECTIVE PART/DESIGN FROM TOYOTA. THE "FIX" WAS A REPLACEMENT PIPE SUB ASSEMBLY (P/N 15707-31030). APPARENTLY THERE IS A METAL REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY BUT THEY PUT ANOTHER RUBBER PIPE INTO MY CAR. LET'S HOPE IT DOESN'T HAVE AGAIN AND ACTUALLY CAUSE SOME DAMAGE. *TR
WHEN I WAS EXISTING FROM A FREEWAY WITH SPEED OF ABOUT 20MPH, MY CAR, A SOLARA 2007 ALL OF A SUDDEN JUST WENT ALMOST HORIZONTALLY FROM RIGHT TO LEFT WITH A FAST SPEED. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO CAR COMING. I APPLIED BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD AND STOPPED TO CHECK. EVERYTHING IS NORMAL, TIRES ARE GOOD. I BROUGHT THE CARE TO DEALER, BUT THEY SAID IT'S NOT ON RECALL LIST AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE. *TR
APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO,EARLY OCT., I WAS MERGING ONTO AN EXPRESSWAY WITH MY 2007 CAMRY. AS I WAS BRISKLY ACCELERATING, I NOTICED THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK AND THE TACHOMETER WAS REGISTERING 6000 TO 7000 RPMS. THERE WAS ONLY LIGHT TRAFFIC, NO ONE AHEAD OF ME FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED YARDS. I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO FLIP THE PEDAL UP WITH MY TOE. I CAREFULLY DROVE HOME AND BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT MORNING. I HAD INSPECTED THE FLOOR MAT AND SAW THAT IT WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE GAS PEDAL. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOOK OUT THE FLOOR MAT AND SAID THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH I ASKED TO HAVE THE LINKAGE CHECKED, I DOUBT THAT WAS DONE. THE PROBLEM SO FAR HAS NOT RECURRED. IN ORDINARY EXPRESSWAY TRAFFIC THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED 2007 CAMRY FROM TOYOTA DEALER. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT IT, THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. SO I IMMEDIATELY CHANGED THE OIL. BUT EVERY 1500 MILES AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I TOLD THE DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY KEEP ON SAYING THIS IS NORMAL.
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) THE INCIDENT: ACCELERATED GAS PEDAL THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON CRAIN HWY, GLEN BURNIE AT THE INTERSECTION OF CRAIN HWY/AQUAHART RD ON 9/26/2009. I WAS TRAVELING ON CRAIN HIGHWAY WHEN I CAME TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I APPLIED PRESSURE ON THE BREAK. AND THOUGHT I HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY CE HAD UNEXPECTEDLY JOLTED FORWARD. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SAID "WOW THAT WAS WEIRD" I DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT THE INCIDENT OTHER THAN I JUST BEING A FREAK MALFUNCTION. ONLY UNTIL THE RECENT RECALLS OF MY TOYOTA MODEL WAS IT BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT I MAY HAVE EXPERIENCED THE ACCELERATED GAS PEDAL MALFUNCTION WITH MY VEHICLE. NO ACCIDENTS WERE A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT; HOWEVER I WAS SHAKEN UP A BIT. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA IN LATE JANUARY EXPLAINING THAT MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WAS PART OF A RECALL TO REPLACE THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR MAT AND THAT I WAS GOING TO RECEIVE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT RECALL LOCATIONS IN EARLY APRIL/MAY. AFTER READING NEWSPAPERS AND WATCHING NEWS REPORTS OF THE PUBLIC RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT IDENTIFYING THE TOYOTA MODELS THAT WAS PART OF THE RECALL INVOLVING ACCELERATED GAS PEDALS. MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WAS PART OF THE MODELS IDENTIFIED SO I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO DARCARS TOYOTA OF BALTIMORE, 6000 EASTERN AVE , BALTIMORE MD ON JANUARY,10, 2010 AND WAS TURNED AWAY CLAIMING MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I RECEIVED OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION FROM TOYOTA ON 3/8/2010 WITH INSTRUCTION ON WHERE TO GO AND INFORMATION ABOUT THE RECALL ON MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY CE PURCHASED MAY 2006. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED. VIN # [XXX] *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL FLUTTERS A LOT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS HAPPENS EVEN IN PERFECTLY SMOOTH ROAD AND IN A LITTLE ROUGH ROAD THE VEHICLE IS UNCONTROLLABLE. TOYOTA KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND HAS A TSB (TSB 01-06-08). HOWEVER, DEALERS ALWAYS ASK TO GO FOR WHEEL ALIGNMENT, BALANCING ETC AND DOES NOT WANT TO FIX AS PER TSB. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AND MUST BE CONSIDERED AS A RECALL. *TR
ON 24 SEPT 2009 MY PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR FELL OFF, THE MOUNTING IS COMPLETELY FREE OF THE ROOF, ON 25 SEPTEMBER 2009 THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR (ALTHOUGH STILL ATTACHED TO THE ROOF) IS SAGGING AND INHIBITING MY LINE OF VISION. I ATTEMPTED TO HOLD THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR UP BY A RUBBER BAND ATTACHED TO THE HANDLE ABOVE THE DOOR. THIS FAILED ON 26 SEPTEMBER 2009 CAUSING THE SUN VISOR TO IMPAIR MY VISION AND I NARROWLY AVOIDED A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA, WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS ASSOCIATED WITH A TECH SAFETY BULLETIN (T-SB-0284-09) HOWEVER SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY THE COMPANY WILL NOT REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS. *TR
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY 4CYL 5SP - HESITATES UPON NORMAL ACCELERATION - ONGOING. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM A TOYOTA DEALER. AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS, THE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. THIS IS A SERIOUS DISTRACTION AND DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. I DID NOT EXPECT THIS LACK OF QUALITY FROM TOYOTA AND WAS ALSO SURPRISED THAT THEY CHARGE ME TO REPLACE IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP WHEN SHE APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AT 40 MPH. AS A CONSEQUENCE SHE LOST VEHICLE CONTROL, AND THEN THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER. HER LEFT FOOT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 55000. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY I HAD A ACCIDENT IN THE VEHICLE ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2009 IN JACKSON, TN. I TOLD THE OFFICERS AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT I TRIED TO STOP BUT WAS UNABLE TO I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG IT WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL I WENT INTO A DITCH. TWO DAYS LATER TOYOTA DID A RECALL ON THE FLOOR MATS. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE FLOOR MATS THIS YEAR IN FEBRUARY 2010. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAD THE WRONG NAME AS BEING THE OWNER AND SAID THEY WOULD GET ME THE RECALL INFORMATION MAILED TO MY HOME. THE COMPANY DID SEND ME THE INFORMATION I CALLED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP HER AND THEY TOLD ME I COULD BRING MY VEHICLE IN. IT STATES ON THE PAPERS THAT TOYOTA WILL REPLACE THE PEDAL WITH A NEW ONE IF I WANTED TO WAIT FOR IT IN AND THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE OLDER ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS AND CLEAN THE CARPET. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN FOR ME I NOW HAVE THE SAME DIRTY FLOOR THAT I HAD BEFORE I TOOK IT TO THEM AND NOW I'M RIDING IN A RENTAL CAR BECAUSE SINCE THEY PUT THE REINFORCEMENT BAR ON MY CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND I'M AFRAID EVEN MORE TO DRIVE THE CAR I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD CORPORATE THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THEM TO CHECK OUT THE CAR AND MY MANUAL SAYS THAT IF THIS LIGHT COMES ON THAT IT IS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT COULD BE UP TO 200 DIFFERENT THINGS AND THAT UNLESS I PAY FOR THIS THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO ASSIST ME I CAN WRITE A LETTER TO THE CLAIMS DEPARTMENT BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL REIMBURSE ME FOR MY RENTAL OR FOR FIXING THE VEHICLE, ALSO THAT MY FLOOR MATS ARE NOW AFTERMARKET MATS AND THE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO THEM EITHER NOR MY FLOOR PLEASE DO SOMETHING THEY ARE NOT FIXING THESE VEHICLES AND ARE NOT STANDING BY THERE WORD I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY ANYMORE MONEY TO GET THIS VEHICLE FIX AND DETAILED AND I HAVE NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY . THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT 60 MPH WHEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE ACCELERATOR PETAL HIT THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN . THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES WITH EXTREME PRESSURE BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER 5 MINUTES THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONCE AGAIN.THE PETAL HIT THE FLOOR TRAVELING 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS TRADED.THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. NO REPAIRS WERE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHEN HEAVY PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES. AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND BEGAN FUNCTIONING NORMALLY AFTER IT WAS RESTARTED. HE STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES WHEN FIRM PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES TO AVOID A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. HE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED; THEN THE ENGINE STALLED. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. AS A CONSEQUENCE HIS RISK FOR VEHICLE CRASH WAS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HOWEVER BECAUSE HE WOULD BE CHARGED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,193. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH MICHELIN ENERGY MXV4 TIRES, DOT#HN49, SIZE 215/60/R16. DURING INSPECTION AN AUTHORIZED TECHNICIAN STATED THAT ALL 4 TIRES HAD DRY ROT. A MECHANIC FROM THE MICHELIN TIRE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE PREVIOUS TECHNICIANS DIAGNOSES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 17000. UPDATED 01/05/10 *BF UPDATED 01/06/10.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 50 MPH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL GEAR AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. NO CRASH AND NO INJURIES. YOU ARE INVESTIGATING TOYOTA GAS PEDAL PROBLEMS. I OWN A 2007 CAMRY HY-BRID AND HAVE NOTICED THAT ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH AND HAD THE CAR IN 'CRUISE CONTROL' AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR REALLY ACCELERATED VERY FAST TO INCREASE BY 10 - 15 MPH. I DO NOT KNOW IF THAT HAS ANY BEARING ON YOUR INVESTIGATION BUT THOUGHT I SHOULD PASS IT ON TO YOU. *TR
2007 CAMRY XLE. PROBLEMS WITH HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING. THE DEALERSHIP JUST BLEW ME OFF WHEN I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. ACTED AS IF THIS WAS NEVER A PROBLEM WITH CAMRYS. ALSO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH STEERING COLUMN'S RADIO CONTROLS - WHEN PRESSING THE APPROPRIATE BUTTONS, NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN OR, WHEN SEEKING STATIONS THAT WERE PROGRAMMED IN, THE DOWN OR UP BUTTONS WOULD JUMP TO OTHER STATIONS NOT PROGRAMMED. SINCE THIS PROBLEM IS ERRATIC, NOTHING WAS DONE BY DEALER. PROBLEMS WITH THE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE GAUGE - AT TIMES, IT WOULD TAKE 15-20 MINUTES BEFORE THE TEMPERATURE WOULD CHANGE TO THE CORRECT ONE. EXAMPLE: IT READ 77 DEGREES WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY IN THE MID-90S. DEALERSHIP DID REPAIR THIS LAST SUMMER BUT NOW, IT IS READING SEVEN+ DEGREES OFF THE ACTUAL OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE. THE FINAL PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR IS THAT THE PAINT IS CHIPPING OFF OF THE FRAME AREA BELOW THE DOORS OF THE CAR. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED WITH ANY PREVIOUS CAR I HAVE OWNED. DEALER ATTRIBUTED IT TO THE FACT THAT THIS CAR IS THE SPORT VERSION SO IT RIDES LOWER. FIRST TOYOTA I HAVE OWNED AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT MAY BE MY LAST. *TR
2007 CAMRY, SUNVISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. *TR
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID... BOTH SUN VISORS FAIL AT THE PIVOT POINT AND FALL DOWN, BLOCKING THE DRIVERS VIEW, WHILE DRIVING. BOTH TOYOTA AND THEIR RESPECTIVE DEALERS REFUSE TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. THEY CALL THE VISORS 'TRIM PIECES' MAKING THEM INELIGIBLE FOR WARRANTY. I MAINTAIN THAT HAVING A SLAB OF MATERIAL FALL DOWN AND BLOCK THE DRIVERS VIEW DUE TO A DEFECT AT 36,000 MILES CONSTITUTES AN UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY. IN SEVERAL EMAIL AND TELEPHONE EXCHANGES, TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES DISMISS MY CLAIM WITH CANNED, SCRIPTED REPLIES. THEY WON'T EVEN LISTEN TO REASON. THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN AND WIDESPREAD DEFECT ON THIS LINE OF CARS. IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED ALREADY, SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET INJURED OR KILLED IN A COLLISION CAUSED BY A SUDDEN BLOCKED VIEW OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS TO BE REPAIRED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY BUT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 62,000.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 HAD A UNINTENDED ACCELERATION THAT CAUSES MY CAR CRASHED TO THE CAR INFRONT ME. TOYOTA DEALER DID SOMETHING IN THE CARPET AND ACCELERATION PEDAL YESTERDAY. I AM STILL AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR FOR I STRONGLY BELIEVED THAT THE SENSOR OR THE ELECTRONICALLY THROTTLE ACTIVATE THE SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF MY CAR. I ALSO BELIEVED THAT TOYOTA ARE NOT BEING HONEST IN FINDING A SOLUTION TO THESE PROBLEMS. I DON'T WANT TO EXPERIENCE AGAIN THE DEATH ACCELERATION THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR. EVERYTHING TOYOTA DID TO MY CAR IS JUST BANDAID SOLUTION AND NOT SOLVING THE MAIN CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WHICHIS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE AS IN HAPPENED TO ALL OTHER HIGH SPEED THAT CANNOT BE STOPPED BY THE DRIVER, AND CAUSED DEATHS TO ALL PASSENGER. I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. MY PROBLEM EXIST WITH A STUCK PEDAL. WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A LIGHT, AND PROCEED TO STEP ON MY ACCELERATOR MOMENTARILY STICKS IN A NEUTRAL POSITION ,UNTIL IT RELEASES, WHILE I AM STILL MOVING FORWARD WITH THE SAME PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. I CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL AND THIS IS WHAT IT STATES: IF THE ENGINE SPEED DOES NOT INCREASE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM SOMEWHERE IN THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. MY CONCERN IS THIS PROBLEM IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL, AND MY CAR IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I DO NOT FEEL CONFIDENT IN TOYOTA'S EXPLANATION WITH ALL TOYOTA CARS. I DO NOT KNOW IF MY CAR WAS INVOLVED IN THE 1ST RECALL WITH THE FLOOR MATS, THROTTLE CONTROL, OR THE GAS PEDAL. I WANT TO KNOW WHO MADE MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND IF MY CAR WILL BE REPAIRED BY TOYOTA. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE, THAT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE PEDAL WILL MAKE MY CAR GO OUT OF CONTROL. IF IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART, HAS IT BEEN DETERMINED THAT WHEN MY PEDAL STICKS IT WILL ACCELERATE OUT OF CONTROL. WITH SO MANY OTHER TOYOTA'S BEING ADDED TO THE LIST EACH DAY. I WANT TO REPORT THAT THE CAMRY SOLARA SHOULD BE ADDED TO THIS LIST. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. I AM NOT CURRENTLY DRIVING THE CAR. I EXPECT ALL ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION BE CLOSELY LOOKED AT BY TOYOTA, AND THE RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR AT THE COST OF TOYOTA BE TAKEN CARE OF REGARDLESS OF A RECALL LETTER BEING SENT OUT TO ONLY THE LISTED CARS TO DATE. IN 2007, I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY FROM TEJAS TOYOTA IN HUMBLE, TX. ON OR ABOUT AUGUST 18, I GOT MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THEY PERFORMED A MULTI-POINT INSPECTION, OIL CHANGE, TIRE ROTATION, AND CHECKED FLUIDS. VEHICLE WAS RENDERED IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER, WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON, I SAW THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BEGIN TO COME TO A STOP. I SAW THE LIGHT TURN RED AND I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM TO STOP. I APPLIED THE BRAKE, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. MY TIRES DID NOT SQUEAL, MY CAR DID NOT DECELERATE AT ALL, BUT I DID NOT SPIN OR VEER OFF IN ANY DIRECTION. I ALMOST ATTEMPTED TO GO AROUND THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME, HOWEVER, THAT WOULD HAVE LEFT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN AN INTERSECTION. I KNEW THAT COULD RESULT IN A POSSIBLY WORSE SITUATION, SO I HELD DOWN THE BRAKES AND JUST PRAYED THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD STOP. AS A RESULT OF THIS VEHICLE FAILURE, I HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME DIRECTLY IN THE REAR END OF THEIR MERCEDES BENZ SUV. STRANGELY, MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS TOO GREATLY CONCERNS ME. 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY CE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS - HESITATION WITH 4 CYLINDER ENGINE. UPON ACCELERATING TO MERGE IN TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE, TRANSMISSION HESITATED ON THE ON RAMP WHICH ALMOST CAUSED ANOTHER VEHICLE TO REAREND MY VEHICLE. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 40 - 45 MPH PRIOR TO ACCELERATION WHEN MY VEHICLE HESITATED CAUSING MY SPEED TO DECREASE CONSIDERABLY. IN TURN, THE VEHICLE FOLLOWING ME AT ABOUT A CAR LENGTH AND A HALF BACK CAME CLOSE TO REARENDING MY VEHICLE. THIS HESITATION HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THERE HAS BEEN 2 OCCASIONS THAT MY CAR HAS ACCELERATED RAPIDLY WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. THE SPEED WAS SET AT 73MPH. MY FOOT WAS NOT TOUCHING THE FOOT PEDAL NOR WAS THE FLOOR MAT. IN BOTH INSTANCES I WAS MAKING A CURVE IN THE ROAD WHEN IT HAPPENED. ON ONE OF THE TWO OCCASIONS I RECEIVED A SPEEDING TICKET TOTALING AROUND 300.00. THE CAR HAD ACCELERATED TO 95 BEFORE I REGAINED CONTROL. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE NOTICED WITH THE VEHICLE IS WHEN TRAVELING AT SLOW RATES OF SPEED (IN 3RD GEAR AUTOMATIC), THE CAR WILL SPORADICALLY HAVE POWER SURGES AND JOLT FORWARD. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE JAN. 09 AND THE PROBLEMS DESCRIBED ABOVE HAVE ONLY HAPPENED 2-3 TIMES EACH. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED ANY REPAIR CENTERS REGARDING THE ISSUES. *TR

OIL SPEWED FROM UNDERNEATH VEHICLE FOR MILES. MY GIRLFRIEND CALLED ME AT WORK, ASKED ME TO CHECK MY CAR AS SHE SAW MY TRAIL OF OIL FOR 1/4 MILE.. TOOK CAR TO MY MECHANIC, FOUND A RUBBER HOSE, A CLAMP ON EACH END ABOUT 6 INCHES LONG, THE CLAMPS AND HOSE HAD TO BE REPLACED, BECAUSE OIL SPEWED OUT OF THIS PART. IF MY GIRLFRIEND HADN'T CALLED ME, MY ENGINE WOULD HAVE SEIZED. AS WHEN I CHECKED IT AT WORK A PUDDLE OF OIL WAS UNDER VEHICLE, AND THE DIP STICK SHOWED NO OIL IN VEHICLE. OWNED 2007 CAMRY SINCE NEW, NOTICED INITIALLY THAT CAR BURNED OIL AND THOUGHT IT WAS PART OF 'BREAK-IN' PERIOD. AS TIME WENT BY IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE; NOW AT 176,000 MILES IT'S BURNING ABOUT HALF QUART EVERY1200 MILES. THERE ARE NO LEAKS AND CAR IS NOT SMOKING. I'VE TAKEN IT TO DEALER DURING SERVICE APPOINTMENTS AND MENTIONED IT, WAS TOLD IT WAS 'NORMAL'. I ALSO OWN A '94 TOYOTA PICKUP WITH 249K ON IT; OTHER THAN THE STARTER WHICH FAILED 3 YEARS AGO IT'S PRETTY MUCH ORIGINAL. NO LEAKS OR BURNING OIL AND GETS BETTER GAS MILEAGE THAN THE CAMRY EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE BOTH 4 CYLINDERS. IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO QUALITY CONTROL, ONCE TOYOTA MADE IT TO THE TOP A FEW YEARS AGO THEY'VE GONE DOWNHILL SINCE. TAKING THIS CAR BACK TO DEALER FOR THIS ISSUE AND LET'S SEE WHAT THEY'LL SAY. DASHBOARD OF THIS CAR HAS BEEN MELTED, WHICH ALSO GIVES TROUBLE IN VISIBILTY. AND I BELIEVE POOR VISIBILITY WAS THE REASON BEHIND A CRASH AT 2 WAY STOP SIGN. AND IT MAY CAUSE PROBLEM IN FUTURE AS WELL. IT REALLY NEED A RECALL. OR REPLACEMENT WITH REASONABLE COST.

THE VVT-I OIL LINE FAILED DURING A LONG OUT OF STATE TRIP LEAVING FAMILY STRANDED AND HAVING TO RENT A VEHICLE TO GET HOME (VERMONT TO MARYLAND). GETTING A RENTAL WAS NOT FUN. THE WORST PART THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON THE 2007 CAMRY V6 ENGINES. THE CAR WAS IN FOR SERVICE THE DAY PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED ALL HOSES, ETC. THERE IS A TSB OUT ON THE PROBLEM, AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED SINCE IT HAS BEEN OUT BUT NEVER LOOKED AT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH SHE ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO AVOID CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE DID NOT DECELERATE, WHICH CAUSED HER TO CRASH INTO A WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER KNEE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
