TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE WHEN BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SHAKING WAS COMING FROM THE BRAKE PADS SCRATCHING THE ROTOR. THE BRAKE PADS WERE NOT WORN HOWEVER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED TWICE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,470 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
PURCHASED 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY 4 CYL. HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE CAR ACCELERATING SPEED. HAS HAPPENED OVER A DOZEN TIMES. IN OCTOBER WAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET - CAR ACCELERATED AND I SWERVED TO MISS BOY ON BIKE (DAMAGE TO BUMPER) HIT CURB. ALSO, WHEN TRYING TO MERGE FROM STOP WILL HIT PEDAL - HESITATION CAR DOES NOT MOVE - HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT 3 TIMES. HAVE HAD CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP - THEY PRETEND THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR THEY HAD A MEETING FOR ALL NEW CAR OWNERS. FIVE COUPLES REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I CALLED IN DECEMBER FOR A CHECK INTO THIS PROBLEM (HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH TOYTA - WHO ALSO DENY KNOWING OF ANY PROBLEMS - CONTACTED THEM BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT CAR - AFRAID TO DRIVE) - THE MANAGER SAID HE HAD HEARD OF NO SUCH COMPLAINTS. REMINDED HIM THAT MYSELF AND FIVE OTHER NEW CAR OWNERS HAD COMPLAINED TO HIM AT THE MEETING. TOYOTA IS GOING TO HAVE BIG PROBLEMS - MUST HAVE TOLD MANAGERS TO DENY ANY PROBLEMS!!!!! AS THEY THEMSELVES ARE DOING. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TOLD MY FAMILY THAT IF I AM IN A FATAL CAR ACCIDENT - I WANT THEM TO SUE TOYOTA. AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR. HAD CAR TO DEALERSHIP - SINCE THE TWO PROBLEMS I STATED ONLY HAPPEN SPORADICALLY - THEY SAID THEY TEST DROVE CAR AND SAW NO PROBLEMS. DON'T KNOW HOW FAR THEY TEST DROVE - MILEAGE AT PICKUP WAS THE EXACT SAME AS DROP OFF READING. CAR HAD SAME PROBLEMS ON THE WAY HOME - CAN YOU HELP ME AND ANY OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS. CAR HESITATED BADLY ON ACCELERATION. AT FIRST THE DEALER SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE ACCELERATOR WAS CONNECTED THROUGH A WIRE TO THE COMPUTER, BUT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE ,AND NEEDED TO BE INVESTIGATED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IF NECESSARY. I WILL STATE MY DEALER WAS NOW TRYING TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT HAS ALSO EFFECTED THE GAS MILEAGE, AND A SEE IT AS A SAFETY HAZARD. IF NECESSARY I WILL CONTACT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF MY HOME STATE BECAUSE I SEE THIS AS A NON PERFECTED PIECE OF EQUIPMENT PUT UPON THE PUBLIC . *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING GREATER THAN 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND MADE THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. THE DEALER IS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,600 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7.
CAR HESITATES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THIS HAPPENS CONSTANTLY, SCARY WHEN TRYING TO PASS OR GET ON THRUWAY. MANY NEAR MISS REAR END COLLISIONS. MAKING A TURN AND ACCELERATING YOU THINK CAR IS GOING TO DIE, THEN SUDDENLY PICKS UP AND SPEEDS OFF. *TR
MY 2007 CAMRY SE V6 HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH HESITATION. IT HAS A 2 SECOND DELAY WHEN COMING INTO TRAFFIC. WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVING AND THEN COASTS AT ONE SPEED, AND YOU TRY TO MOVE INTO ANOTHER LANE BY PRESSING THE GAS, THE CAR WAITS AND THEN JOLTS FORWARD. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT CAN LEAD TO BEING REAR ENDED BY OTHER TRAFFIC. YOU KNOW THERE IS PLENTY OF TIME TO GET IN, BUT THE CAR REDUCED MUCH OF THAT TIME, BY NOT GOING ANYWHERE. *TR
TOYOTA CAMRY, 2007, HESITATES BEFORE REACTING TO DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. THIS HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND VARIOUS DRIVING MANUEVERS. THIS MODEL CAMRY IS UNSAFE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED THEN THE VEHICLE SURGED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A GLITCH IN THE COMPUTER AND NOT TO BE CONCERNED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED RECALL 09V388000, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED IN 2009. HE ALSO REFERENCED RECALL 10V017000, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND STATED THAT RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED ON FEBRUARY 16, 2010. THE ACCELERATION FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN IT STARTED ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE LEVELED OUT ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,013. UPDATED 1/19/2011 THE CONSUMER AND HIS WIFE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION ON FOUR OCCASSIONS. UPDATED 03/28/11
SLUGGISH TRANSMISSION. WHEN MERGING TO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC I FOUND EXTREMELY SLUGGISH RESPONSE TO TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED IN MORE THEN ONE OCCASION. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY 2007 CAMRYS. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING OVER 12 YEARS AND NEVER HAD ANY SUCH PROBLEM. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 40-55 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEGAN TO STICK. THERE WAS AN APPLICATION OF EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH BOTH FEET. THE VEHICLE SKIDDED AND LOSS CONTROL AND SUDDENLY, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL AND RESUME TO NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY AT LEAST THREE TIMES A WEEK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON NINE SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURES. THERE WERE REPLACEMENTS OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) AND TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURES CONTINUED WHICH THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AT LOW SPEEDS, WHEN NORMALLY PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THE AUTOMOBILE HESITATES FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD AND THEN "JERKS" FORWARD AFTER THIS DELAY. THERE APPEARS TO BE A "DEAD SPOT" IN THE ACCELERATION PEDAL POSITION WHERE THE CAR ACCELERATION HESITATES. WHEN PULLING INTO A TRAFFIC LANE, THIS UNEXPECTED HESITATION LEAVES THE CAR OCCUPANTS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION OF BEING HIT BY OTHER AUTOMOBILES. THE CONDITION IS AT ITS WORST WHEN THE AUTOMOBILE ENGINE HAS NOT FULLY WARMED. I FEEL THE UNEXPECTED HESITATION AT LOW SPEEDS OF MY AUTOMOBILE IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN AND MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH OF AUTOMOBILE OCCUPANTS IF NOT CORRECTED. *AK
I SLOWED DOWN THE CAR AT THE END OF AN INTERSTATE EXIT RAMP TO CHECK FOR TRAFFIC AND THINKING I HAD ENOUGH TIME TO CROSS THE INTERSECTION I GAVE IT GAS AND GOT VERY LITTLE ACCELERATION. WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS TO THE FLOOR I STILL GOT NO MORE ACCELERATION. I WROTE THE TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING IT IN AND RECEIVED THE RESPONSE THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT AT THIS TIME THERE WAS NO SOLUTION SO DO NOT BRING THE CAR IN. IF THERE HAD BEEN MORE TRAFFIC IN THAT SITUATION IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A WRECK. ACCELERATION IS ALSO VERY ERRATIC WHEN USING CRUISE CONTROL, GOING UP A SLIGHT HILL WILL CAUSE THE MOTOR TO RACE. ALSO, IT REQUIRES QUITE A LOT OF FORCE TO STOP THE CAR. *TR
I DO NOT OWN THE 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY OR THE LEXUS ES350 , BUT IN THE COURSE OF TEST DRIVING BOTH OF THE VEHICLES, I WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT THE START/STOP BUTTON DEFEATS THE OLDER IGNITION KEY IINTERLOCK SYSTEM. IN THE OLDER KEYED IGNITION SYSTEM THE CAR MUST BE IN PARK TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. IN THE 2007 MODELS OF LEXUS AND CAMRY THE ENGINE CAN BE TURNED OFF WITH THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE SIMPLY BY TOUCHING THE BRAKE. HERE IS NO IGNITION KEY TO PLACE IN THE STEERING COLUMN.. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING WHICH I SENT TO YOUR SITE THIS MORNING AND WAS ASKED TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT: 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AND LEXUS ES 350 DO NOT USE AN IGNITION KEY. THEY USE A "REMOTE" WHICH MUST BE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE VEHICLE WHEN THE "START/STOP" BUTTON IS PRESSED. OTHER MANUFACTURERS (BMW, VOLVO) USE BOTH A "KEY" IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE "START/STOP" BUTTON. WHILE THIS SECOND OPTION AT FIRST SEEMS REDUNDANT, IT IS A SAFETY FEATURE AND TOYOTA/LEXUS PRODUCTS MAY BE PRONE TO "ROLLING WHEN STOPPED" IN THE FOLLOWING SCENARIO: TOYOTA/LEXUS: DRIVER TOUCHES BRAKE AND HITS THE "START/STOP" BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE, BUT DRIVER FORGETS TO MOVE THE TRANSMISSION FROM "DRIVE" TO "PARK". UPON RELEASING THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE WILL MOVE, IF NOT ON LEVEL GROUND. BMW/VOLVO: AS ABOVE, BUT DRIVER IS UNABLE TO PULL "KEY" FROM STEERING COLUMN BECAUSE VEHICLE IS NOT IN "PARK". THEREFORE, DRIVER PLACES TRANSMISSION IN "PARK" BEFORE EXITING THE CAR, OTHERWISE HE WILL NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE "KEY" WITH HIM ON LEAVING THE CAR. THE INFINITI M35X AWD USES A "START/STOP" BUTTON, BUT "BEEPS" AN ALARM WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED IN DRIVE. IN SUMMARY: REDUNDANCY (KEY/START-STOP BUTTON) AND ALARMS SERVE A USEFUL SAFETY PURPOSE AND SHOULD BE INCORPORATED INTO THE TOYOTA/LEXUS PRODUCTS. ALTERNATIVELY, THE "START/STOP" BUTTON SHOULD BE ACTIVE ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. *AK
NOTICED DANGEROUS HESITATION/DOWNSHIFTING ON MY 2007 4CLY CAMRY DAY AFTER PURCHASE, CALLED SERVICE DEPT TOLD THEM OF PROBLEMS ON DAY 3, CLOSED SUNDAY CALLED MONDAY TOLD OF PROBLEMS, WAS TOLD TO DRIVE FOR ONE WEEK SO CAR CAN LEARN DRIVING HABITS. I DID ON LAST DAY I TRIED TO PULL OUT OF DRIVEWAY CAR HESITATED AND JUMPED FORWARD, ALMOST HIT A UPS TRUCK. CALLED DEALER AGAIN TOLD THEM OF PROBLEMS, THIS TIME WAS TOLD NO FIX AT THIS TIME BUT NOT TO WORRY BECAUSE LIKE THE V6 CAMRY THEY HAD TO PULL ALL OF LOT FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, WHEN AND IF TOYOTA COMES UP WITH FIX TOYOTA WILL LET ME KNOW. DIDN'T WAIT FOR FIX TRADED THAT DAY. THE 4CLY TOYOTA CAMRY IS DANGEROUS. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. PURCHASED A 07 CAMRY FROM DOWN EAST TOYOTA IN MAINE 6-2-07 NOTICED NEXT DAY A DANGEROUS HESITATION PROBLEM WITH CAR, CALLED DET SERVICE DEPT 2-4-07 WITH COMPLAINT I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE FOR A WEEK SO CAR COULD LEARN DRIVING HABITS, SO I DID. PULLED INTO TRAFFIC SEVERAL TIMES THAT WEEK AND FEW TIMES THE CAR WOULD HESITATE AND JUMP FORWARD, ON 6-11-07 CALLED DET SERVICE DEPT AGAIN BECAUSE THAT MORNING TRYING TO PULL OUT OF DRIVEWAY CAR HESITATED JUMPED FORWARD ALMOST HITTING A UPS TRUCK, VERY DANGEROUS!! WHILE TALKING TO SERVICE DEPT THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT DRIVING THE CAMRY FOR A WEEK WOULD NOT HELP THE HESITATION PROBLEM BUT NOT TO WORRY BECAUSE LIKE THE 07 V6 CAMRY THEY HAD TO PULL ALL OFF THE LOT FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHEN AND IF TOYOTA COMES UP WITH A FIX THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW. I TRADED THE CAMRY BACK IN BECAUSE OF THE DANGEROUS HESITATION PROBLEM AND LOST 7000.00 IN TEN DAYS?? WHEN I QUESTIONED KEVIN KELLY THE GENERAL MGR I WAS TOLD BY HIM THAT HE DID HOLD A GUN TO MY HEAD TO BUY THE CAMRY OR TO TRADE IT BACK IN, AND NOTHING I COULD DO ABOUT LOOSING 7000.00 BECAUSE HE CAN DO AS HE WANTS. THE SALESMAN DON SCOTT TOLD US THAT THE SATURDAY HE SOLD US OUR CAMRY HE SOLD THREE AND TWO HAVE COME BACK BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, TRACY SIMPSON AT PAPER SIGNING TOLD US THAT SHE ALSO HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. WITH BEING TOLD NO FIX FOR A DANGEOUS PROBLEM LIKE THIS, TRADING A CAR BACK IN 10 DAYS LOSING 7000.00 IS JUST WRONG!!! NOW TO THIS DATE THREE TSB'S OUT FOR THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT BECOMES NORMAL WHEN TSB FAIL TO FIX PROBLEM. MY AIRBAGS ON BOTH SIDES CONTINUE TO FALL DOWN OUT OF THE CASING. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO TOYOTA CORPORATE 5 TIMES AND IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED 5 TIMES. THE PROBLEM STILL EXITS. I CALLED TOYOTA AGAIN 2 WEEKS AGO AND THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED MY CALL. THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE DANGER TO MY FAMILY WITH THESE FALLING AIRBAGS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WHICH WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. WHILE TRAVELING 5 MPH AND UP AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE SLOWLY PICKED UP SPEED AND WOULD OFTEN HESITATE. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS. THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL ON THE VEHICLE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V017000, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL) AND THE RELATED REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT SINCE THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ANY FURTHER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. UPDATED 5/10/10 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE UPON ACCELERATION. THERE WAS A DELAY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. UPDATED 09/16/10
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY BOUGHT BRAND NEW FROM LOCAL DEALER. VEHICLE HESITATES ON ACCELERATION MAKING IT SCARY TO PULL OUT INTO MOVING TRAFFIC. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS NORMAL SINCE THE ACCELERATOR IS NOT A MECHANICAL LINKAGE BUT A "FLY BY WIRE" SET UP AND RAPID ACCELERATION CONFUSES THE COMPUTER. VEHICLE ALSO LOCKS ITS OWN DOORS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *TR

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A BRAND NEW TOYOTA SOLARA 2007 IN APRIL 2007. SINCE THEN I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR MORE THEN 5 TIMES IN 3 MONTHS FOR THE SAME DEFECT. BUT THEY CANNOT REPAIR IT. I REALIZED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATE ON ACCELERATION ON ALL OCCASION. WHENEVER I MAKE A TURN (LET OR RIGHT TURN) THE CAR WILL "PAUSE" AND LOST IN POWER, LOST OF TRANSMISSION FOR SECONDS. THE CAR SIMPLY "RETARDED" AND SIMPLY ROLL ON THE ROAD WITHOUT TRANSMISSION CONTROL...WHENEVER I NEED TO STEP ON GAS TO ESCAPE FROM A SITUATION ON THE FREEWAY, THE CAR AGAIN WILL "PAUSE" AND HESITATE, I REGARD THAT THE CAR IS "RETARDED". IT SIMPLY LOST IN TRANSMISSION DURING THAT SHORT PAUSE, I FELT SO DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD WITH SUCH DEFAULTED VEHICLE. I READ ON THE COMPLIANT FROM NHTSA AND SURPRISE TO FIND THAT THERE ARE SO MANY OF THE CAMRY OWNER ARE FACING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TOYOTA SOLARA IS ALSO A CAMRY BREED, HENCE I THINK THESE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS SHOUD WARRANT THE GOVERNMENT TO ACT AGAINST THE TOYOTA MANUFACTURER TO DO A RECALL AND REPAIR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH TOYOTA, I HOPE I WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH NHTSA TO START DOING SOMETHING GOOD FOR US THE CONSUMER WITH ALL THESE COMPLAINTS. SINCERELY. *TR

THERE IS A HESITATION UPON ACCELERATING WHEN PASSING, EXITING INTERSTATE OR STARTING UP HILL AFTER TURNING A CORNER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE DELAY OF ACCELERATION.

MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING TO ENTER A HIGHWAY OR TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE/PASS. THE POWER OUTPUT OF THE ENGINE SEEMS TO BE PULLED BACK BY THE ECM (LIKE TOYOTA'S TRACTION CONTROL) AS IT DOES NOT SEEM TO LUG LIKE A MANUAL IN TOO HIGH A GEAR. THERE IS NO INITIAL SHIFT DOWN OF THE TRANSMISSION. IN JUST OVER A SECOND, THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY SHIFTS DOWN TO THE NEXT GEAR BUT IT IS STILL NOT ENOUGH AS THE ENGINE OUT PUT IS LOW DUE TO THAT GEAR BEING TOO LOW IN THE POWERBAND. SUDDENLY, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS DOWN TO THE NEXT GEAR, BEING THE APPROPRIATE GEAR FOR THE ENGINE LOAD/SPEED, THE POWER ON THE ENGINE KICKS UP (265BHP) AND CAUSES THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD. IF THE WHEEL IS TURNED AS IF TO TAKE A LANE OR PASS, THIS BECOMES NEAR VIOLENT, STARTLING THE DRIVER AND POSSIBLE MEANS TO LOOSE CONTROL IN LESS TRACTABLE CONDITIONS.
