MY 2007 CAMRY LE (4-CYL) HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING, SOMETIMES 2-3 SECONDS, TO THE POINT THAT IT SEEMS UNSAFE. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT IT IS DESIGNED TO HAVE AN "ADAPTIVE MEMORY" MEANING THAT IF I DRIVE CONSERVATIVELY, WITH NORMALLY NO QUICK ACCELERATION, THAT IT "REMEMBERS" THAT AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE QUICKLY WHEN I WANT IT TO. *NM
CAR HESITATES WHEN SHIFTING INTO A HIGHER GEAR, IT DOES IT AROUND 35 MILES PER HOUR. SOMETIMES IT SHIFTS VERY HARD LUNGING YOU FORWARD. SOMETIMES WHEN YOU PUT IT IN REVERSE IT GOES INTO REVERSE VERY HARD. THE BRAKES CONTINUE TO SQUEAL, HARDWARE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING HESITATION HAS OCCURRED OVER 250 TIMES. I AM STARTING TO GET NERVOUS DRIVING IT I AM AFRAID SOMEONE THAT MIGHT BE TAILGATING MIGHT HIT ME IN THE REAR. *JB
I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 05/16/07, AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE ECM( ENGINE CONTROL MODULE). THE CAR SEEMED TO BE MUCH BETTER IN TERMS OF ERRATIC SHIFTING AND ACCELERATION. I WOULD SUGGEST TO ANYONE WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO HAVE THIS PROCEDURE DONE.*AK
THE ACCELERATOR IS VERY SLOW TO RESPOND TO PEDAL ACTION. AT VARIOUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2006, THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE FOR 4 TO 5 SECONDS AFTER THE PEDAL IS PUSHED ALMOST CAUSING NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE VALVE BODY AND REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS. DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE DONE ALL THAT TOYOTA HAS ALLOWED THEM TO DO. *TR
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE SYSTEM OF MY TOYOTA CAMRY IS DEFECTIVE AND IS HESITANT AT LOW SPEEDS. IT CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE, SUCH THAT THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE WHEN REQUIRED. I HAVE REFERRED TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THERE WERE MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS, BUT THERE IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AND EVENTUALLY REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED DURING EXTREME COLD OR HUMIDITY WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE A 2007 CAMRY LE AND EXPERIENCE A DELAY IN ACCELERATION FROM A STOP TO 25 MPH. IT DOES NOT OCCUR ALL THE TIME BUT I'VE EXPERIENCE IT 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 5 MONTHS. THE CAR HESITATE FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS BEFORE STARTING TO MOVE. ONE TIME AN SUV HAD TO STEER TO AVOID ME AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN. THIS SEEMS TO BE COMMON BASE ON THE COMPLAINS I'VE SEEN ON THIS WEBSITE. *NM
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE WITH 4 CYLINDER, 5 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION. CAR HESITATES BADLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP ON A COLD ENGINE, AND DE-ACCELERATING WITHOUT USE OF THE BRAKE IS JERKY. THERE ARE TIMES THAT I MUST TURN FROM A SIDE STREET INTO A HEAVILY-USED ROAD AND ACCELERATE RAPIDLY. THIS IS FRIGHTENING. I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES SLOWLY, THEN AFTER 2 OR 3 SECONDS, IT ACCELERATES RAPIDLY.

I BOUGHT 2007 CAMRY LE AT POWAY TOYOTA LAST 7-25-06. ABOUT 2ND WEEK OF AUGUST I PULLED THE LATCH HOOD OPENER INSIDE MY CAR TO CHECK MY ENGINE AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW THE HANDLE THAT WAS HOLDING THE WIRE BROKE. NOW, EVERYTIME I HAVE TO OPEN MY HOOD I HAVE TO PULL THE WIRE BECAUSE THE PLASTIC THAT WAS HOLDING THE WIRE BROKE OFF. I OWNED A HONDA CIVIC FOR 11 YRS AND MY HOOD OPENER NEVER BREAKS. I HAVE NOT YET REPORT THIS INCIDENT AT POWAY TOYOTA BECAUSE THERE WAS AN INCIDENT AT THAT TIME WHEN I SERVICED MY CAR FOR TEFLON AND SCOTCH GUARD AND WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK THEY SCRAPE THE BOTTOM FRONT PANEL OF MY CAR AND FOR MY INCONVENIENCE I HAVE TO BRING IT THERE TO HAVE THEM FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE. I WAS NOT HAPPY AT ALL AT THEIR SERVICE AFTER WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO MY BRAND NEW CAR WHICH I JUST BOUGHT LAST 7-25 AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE I WOULD FIND A DEFECT TO MY CAR. *NM
MY 2007 CAMRY HAS DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS THAT RESULTS IN THE INABILITY TO SAFELY CARRY MORE THAN TWO (2) PEOPLE. MY WIFE AND I TRAVELED OUT OF TOWN ON VACATION AND WE ATTEMPTED TO TAKE TWO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WITH US BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO DO THIS. THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED VERY LOW WHEN THE FOUR OF US LOADED UP AND STARTED TO DEPART ON OUR TRIP. THE CAR WAS VERY HARD TO DRIVE AND ANY BUMPS ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSED THE CAR TO ACTUALLY BOTTOM OUT ON THE SUSPENSION STOPS. ONCOMING VEHICLES AT NIGHT WERE FLASHING THEIR HIGH BEAM LIGHTS BECAUSE MY CAR'S LIGHTS WERE AIMED TOO HIGH AS A RESULT OF THE SUSPENSION SAGGING IN THE REAR. ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATING AT THE HIGH SPEED SETTING DURING HEAVY RAIN. THE CAR ACTUALLY ROCKS LATERALLY SIDE TO SIDE AS THE WIPER ARMS SWEEP ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THIS MOTION IS VERY SEVERE AND IS VERY TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE CAR HAS A VERY LOUD WIND NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES, ALSO DRIVING IN A HEAVY RAIN, THE WATER DISPLACED BY THE FRONT TIRES SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING INTO THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CAUSING A VERY LOUD NOISE. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL TOYOTA CAMRY VEHICLES, THE LAST ONE PRIOR TO THIS 2007 XLE WAS A 2005 XLE CAMRY. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY OF THE PROBLEMS LISTED IN THIS COMPLAINT. THE 2007 XLE HAS EXCELLENT POWER AND VERY GOOD HIGHWAY MILEAGE. I SINCERELY WISH TOYOTA MOTOR CORP. WOULD FIND A WAY TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS. THE DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION HAS FORCED ME TO NOT ALLOW ANY MORE THAN TWO (2) PEOPLE AT A TIME. AND FOR INFORMATION THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE LOAD IS 900 LBS. THE LOAD WEIGHT INCLUDING BAGGAGE WAS APPROX 720 LBS WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE TRIP. *JB
NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY 4CYL , 5 SPD A/T , EXCESSIVE LAG TIME WITH THE ACCELERATOR. VERY UNRESPONSIVE . I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS WHILE CHANGING LANES AND MAKING LEFT TURNS BECAUSE YOU HIT THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS FOR SECONDS. YOU HAVE TO GUN THE PEDAL IN THE HOPES IT MOVES QUICKLY TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED OR RPM. DEALER SAYS ,IT'S DESIGNED THAT WAY. UNNACCEPTABLE. *NM

AUTOMATIC - THIS CAR HAS A SERIOUS LAG IN RESPONSE TIME WHEN YOU ARE ACCELERATING - WHETHER IT BE WHEN GOING UP A HILL,PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC, OR CHANGING LANES TO PASS A SLOWER CAR. YOU ARE IN DANGER OF GETTING REAR-ENDED!DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS THE WAY IT IS DESIGNED. VERY DANGEROUS! *NM
ON 08/05/2006 I WAS DRIVING MY NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY ON THE FREEWAY AT 3:00 AM THEN MY CAR DROPPED TO THE GROUND I COULD SEE THE TIRE WAS PASSING US. SLOWLY I MOVED THE CAR TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. AFTER CHECKING I SAW THE REAR LEFT TIRE HAD BROKEN FROM THE AXLE. TOYOTA DOES NOT COVER. THEY ARE PLAYING WITH ME SAYING SOME BODY WILL COME AFTER TWO WEEKS TO INSPECT MY CAR, THEN THEY CHANGE WITHIN ONE MONTH. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I AM SURE THAT IS MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THEY HAVE TO BE VERY SERIOUS. I AND MY FAMILY WERE LUCKY THAT HAPPENED AT NIGHT WHEN NO CAR WAS BEHIND US, OTHERWISE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE CAR'S CRUISE CONTROL BEHAVIOR ON LEVEL GROUND IS FINE, BUT ON ROLLING HILLS IT'S TOTALLY EGREGIOUS, AND INDICATES TO ME THAT THIS FEEDBACK CONTROL SYSTEM MAY BE CLOSE TO INSTABILITY AND THEREFORE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. I THINK THAT THE CONTROL ALGORITHM USED IS DREADFULLY SUB-OPTIMAL, AND HAS SUCH LONG INTERNAL CONTROL-LOOP PROCESSING DELAYS THAT ITS REACTIONS TO CHANGING ROAD CONDITIONS ARE ALARMING. WHAT I FIND IS THE FOLLOWING BEHAVIOR. THE CAR SUBSTANTIALLY OVERSHOOTS (BY 10 MPH OR MORE) THE SET SPEED ON THE DOWNHILL PORTION OF EACH HILL, BUT THEN WAITS SO LONG BEFORE REACTING TO THE BEGINNING OF THE NEXT UPHILL PORTION, THAT IT THEN UNDERSHOOTS THE SET SPEED BY SUCH A LARGE AMOUNT (5 MPH OR MORE) THAT IT HAS TO "FLOOR" THE ACCELERATOR IN ORDER TO CATCH UP. STILL ON THE UPHILL PORTION, IT THEN PROCEEDS TO OVERSHOOT THE SET SPEED AGAIN, BEFORE FINALLY SETTLING DOWN TO THE DESIRED SPEED. THIS CYCLE OF EVENTS REPEATS OVER AND OVER AGAIN AS ONE NEGOTIATES ROLLING HILLS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL "ON." WHY IS THE INTERNAL LOOP DELAY SO LONG? WHY IS THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM NOT PROPERLY DESIGNED? (I HAPPEN TO HAVE EXPERTISE IN CONTROL SYSTEMS.) THIS CONTROL SYSTEM REALLY NEEDS TO BE RE-DESIGNED AS A MATTER OF PRIORITY! THE CRUISE CONTROL'S BEHAVIOR COULD THEN BE FIXED BY A SIMPLE FIRMWARE UPDATE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE APPROACHING A FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE HESITATED FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE TO FOUR SECONDS. HE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM ENTERING THE FREEWAY IN FRONT OF AN EIGHTEEN WHEELER. TOYOTA ADVISED HIM "TO ADJUST HIS DRIVING HABITS AND GET USED TO IT". THE CONTACT IS TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 400 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED THE REPAIR INVOICES. UPDATED 09/07/07 *TR
I HAVE HAD MY COMPUTER "SOFTWARE" RE-INSTALLED 2X TO ATTEMPT TO FIX A LACK OF ACCELERATION. SEVERAL TIMES (MAKING A LEFT TURN) WHILE STARTING FROM A STOP, THE CAR WILL HESITATE FOR 2-4 SECONDS, GIVING APPROACHING CARS ENOUGH TIME TO COME CLOSE TO HITTING MY CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AND AM NOT IN A FINANCIAL POSITION TO TRADE IT IN YET OR SELL IT OUTRIGHT. I OWE TOO MUCH ON THE LOAN YET TO DO SO, MAKING IT A DIFFICULT DECISION WITH MY FAMILY/CHILDREN. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE SLOW ACCELERATION IS MORE SO IN WARM WEATHER. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO FLARE-UP OVER WINTERTIME. COINCIDENCE? I ALSO WANTED TO MENTION THAT THE LAST TIME MY SOFTWARE WAS RE-SET, ON THE WAY HOME, THE ENGINE BEGAN RO RACE AND IT FELT LIKE A BRICK WAS ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE ENGINE RACED FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND THEN FELT LIKE IT "SHIFTED" BACK TO NORMAL RPM'S. I WAS GOING DOWN A HILL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH "SCATTER LIGHT" TO SHOW SIGNS OR PEDESTRIANS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BULB WITH A BRIGHTER BULB, BUT THE LIGHT WAS STILL NOT SUFFICIENT. THE CONTACT INSTALLED ANOTHER SET OF BRIGHTER BULBS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. UPDATED 07/06/07. *JB
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE, 4 CYLINDER PASSENGER CAR. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THERE ARE TIMES THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE AND I EXPERIENCE A SERIOUS HESITATION OF ACCELERATION. THE RPMS DON'T EVEN APPEAR TO BE REVVING UP, ITS LIKE THERE IS NOTHING THERE. I HAD ONE EXPERIENCE WHERE I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN, AND THE CAR DID NOTHING, ALMOST GOT HIT BY AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE NUMEROUS TIMES. DEALERSHIP TOOK VEHICLE IN, SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THIS PROBLEM IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, BUT IT DOES EXIST. *JB
WHEN CAR IS ACCELERATED FROM ONE GEAR TO THE NEXT, THE CAR HESITATES TO ACCELERATE AND SUDDENLY JERKS. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS WHILE MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY OR TRY TO PICK UP SPEED AT A STOP SIGN. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED EXPERIENCING THIS FROM A BRAND NEW CAMRY. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHEN THE CONTACT APPLIED NORMAL PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND LURCHED FORWARD. HE HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THEY REPAIRED THE TCM. HOWEVER, ALL REMEDIES TO DATE HAVE BEEN INSUFFICIENT IN CORRECTING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,941 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,878.
HESITATION ON ACCELERATION- AFTER EXITING THE INTERSTATE AND TURNING CORNER, I CONTINUED TO ROLL BUT THE 07 CAMRY LE 4 CYL DID NOT RESPOND. APPROXIMATELY, 50 YARDS LATER, THE CAR ACCELERATED. *NM
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY *GR ***CONSUMER HAS ATTACHED A COMPLAINT FROM ANOTHER CONSUMER *GR THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD TWO CORRECTIONS DONE TO THE THROTTLE SYSTEM AND THE ACCELERATION WHICH IS STILL NOT NORMAL, BUT ACCEPTABLE COMPARED TO WHAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS STILL FAULTY, BUT THE CONSUMER DEVISED A WAY TO WORK AROUND THE PROBLEM, NOT CONVENIENT BUT IT WORKED. THE CONSUMER ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT A DELAYED ACCELERATION PROBLEM. THE ACCELERATION DELAY MOVED FROM 0 RPM TO ABOUT 2000 RPM WHERE IT WOULD GO FLAT FOR ABOUT TWO SECONDS AND THEN RACED TO ABOUT 4,000 RPM BEFORE SETTLING DOWN. *JB

THE MANUFACTURER AND SERVICE DEALER WERE CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BY A SERVICE TECHNICIAN AND THE MALFUNCTION WAS WITNESSED. NO DETERMINATION WAS MADE. I'VE HAD MY ENGIN AIR FILTER & CABIN AIR FILTER EATEN BY RODENTS; ONE CAUSED MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY TO STALL SEVERAL TIMES. ADDITIONALLY I HAD A RODENT DIE IN THE AREA BEHIND THE CABIN AIR FILTER & DECAYED. THIS OCCURRED AROUND JULY 2006. I'VE REP[LACED THE ENGIN AIR FILTER & THE CABIN FILTER MULTIBLE TIMES DUE TO THIS ISSUE & WILL NEED TO REPLACED AGAIN DURING MY NEXT STATE INSPECTION ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. DEALER REPLACED CABIN AIR FILTER ON JULY 14, 2006 - REPLACED ENGIN AIR FILTER ON MAY 23, 2007 - REPLACED ENGIN AIR FILTER ON JANUARY 11, 2008 - REPLACED ENGIN AIR FILTER & CABIN AIR FILTER ON JUNE 23, 2008 - REPLACED CABIN FILTER ON JUNE 26, 2009 - REPLACED ENGIN AIR FILTER ON MARCH 10, 2010.

I'D LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT RELATED TO TOYOTA'S REFUSAL TO RESPOND TO THEIR 2007 CAMRY LE, 4 CYLINDER HESITATION PROBLEMS. THE HESITATION IS VERY DANGEROUS; PULLING OUT OUT IN FRONT OF OTHER VEHICLES OR MERGING INTO TRAFIC COULD BE TREACHEROUS WHEN THE HESITATION OCCURS. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SITUATION ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND FORTUNATELY HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLED IN AN ACCIDENT YET BUT I SURE OTHERS HAVE! DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MADE FOR ANYONE OF SMALL STATURE. THE VEHICLE PRESENTED NO VISIBILITY BEYOND THE FRONT WINDOW WHEN THE SEAT WAS ADJUSTED TO ALLOW THE CONTACT TO REACH THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS. THIS ALSO CAUSED THE SEAT BELT TO CUT ACROSS THE NECK OF THE CONTACT, RUBBING IT RAW. MY CAR HAS BEEN BURNING UP OIL SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED IT IN 2006. I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AND HAVE BEEN RECENTLY RESEARCHING THIS EXCESSIVE OIL PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD NO LETTER FROM TOYOTA ABOUT IT, BUT I SEE THAT THE TOYOTA DEALERS HAVE GOTTEN A BULLETIN ABOUT THIS. WHEN I ACTUALLY NOTICED THE PROBLEM IT WAS BECAUSE MY CAR WAS MAKING STRANGE NOISES AND I DECIDED TO CHECK MY FLUID LEVELS. MY OIL LIGHT NEVER COMES ON TO MAKE ME AWARE THAT MY CAR IS LOW ON OIL. THEN I CHECK THE DIPSTICK TO SEE THAT IT IS DRY!!! MY CAR NOW HAS 154,000 MILES ON IT AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING EVEN WORSE. I HAVE HAD TO ADD A QUART OF OIL EVER 400 MILES. THIS IS NOT NEW TO ME SINCE I BUY OIL CONSTANTLY AND CHECK MY DIPSTICK EVERY OTHER DAY. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY 2007 CAMRY ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED OR "LOW SPEED" POSITION. I ALSO HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER REPLACED DUE TO A ROCK COMING THROUGH THE GRILL OF THE CAR AND "PUNCTURING THE CONDENSER. I TOOK THE CAR TO A TOYOTA DEALER IN SLIDELL, LA AS I WAS OUT OF TOWN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CONDENSER FOR $625.00 AT MY EXPENSE. I WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO "SCREENS" OR ANY TYPE OF MATERIALS THAT COULD KEEP THIS FROM OCCURRING AGAIN. THERE IS HOWEVER A TSB FOR THE SAME THING ON THE 2007 COROLLA. I FEEL THAT TOYOTA HAS A FLAW IN THE GRILL OF THE 2007 CAMRY AND IT SHOULD BE REMEDIED. THIS COMPLAINT IS RE: A NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE 4 CYLINDER WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR WILL HESITATE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE ACCELERATING FROM VIRTUALLY ANY SPEED (BEHAVIOR NOT SEEN WHEN ACCELERATING FROM DEAD STOP), REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD THE DRIVER PRESSES THE GAS PEDAL. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN MOVING AT VIRTUALLY ANY SPEED AND THEN QUICKLY PRESSING AND HOLDING THE GAS PEDAL DOWN SO AS TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY. THIS BEHAVIOR IS NOT LIKE ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN, INCLUDING A RENTAL 2005 4 CYLINDER CAMRY THAT I DROVE FOR A WEEK IN THE COLORADO MOUNTAINS LAST SUMMER (2005). SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT CAR IS UNPREDICTABLE IN SITUATIONS WHERE ONE MUST MOVE THE CAR TO AVOID TRAFFIC. EXAMPLE: ROLLING FORWARD INTO A LEFT TURN AT A GREEN LIGHT INTERSECTION, PRESS GAS TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC GETS TOO CLOSE, THE CAR DID NOT INCREASE ENGINE REVOLUTIONS AND TOOK OVER 1 SEC. TO DROP INTO LOWER GEAR AND BEGIN TO INCREASE ENGINE REVOLUTIONS/ACCELERATE. THE CAR'S FAILURE TO RESPOND TO GAS PEDAL INPUT WAS SO LONG THAT I WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT IF I HAD PERSISTED IN THE LEFT HAND TURN; I HAD TO TURN THE CAR PARALLEL TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO AVOID HITTING THE ONCOMING CAR. THIS BEHAVIOR IS REPEATABLE AND THE DELAY CAN BE UP TO 2 SEC. IN LENGTH BEFORE THE CAR EVEN BEGINS TO ACCELERATE. WE BOUGHT A 2007 CAMRY FROM GRESHAM TOYOTA IN JUNE 2006. WE IMMEDIATELY HAD THROTTLE PROBLEMS. PROBLEMS INCLUDED: 1. STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL AND HAVING THE ENGINE REV UP TO HIGH RPM'S BUT NOT GOING ANYWHERE. THIS CONDITION HAS HAPPENED ON 2-3 OCCASIONS PER WEEK. THIS CONDITION WOULD HAPPEN ACROSS A VAST ARRAY OF CONDITIONS. YOU WOULD START TO MERGE INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND IT SEEMED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DISENGAGE. NEARLY CAUSING MANY ACCIDENTS(NEAR MISSES).AT OTHER TIMES YOU WOULD PULL AWAY FROM STOP SIGN AND AS YOU ENTERED THE INTERSECTION THE ENGINE WOULD REV AT HIGH RPM'S AND THE CAR WOULD GO NO WHERE. LEAVING YOU SITTING IN THE INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC BEARING DOWN ON YOU.. UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING. NO RESPONSE FROM THE CAR! 2. OTHER TIMES YOU WOULD BE DRIVING ALONG AT 30-40-50 MPH AND THE CAR WOULD WILDLY ACCELERATE OUT OF CONTROL FOR NO REASON. AGAIN MANY HARROWING LIFE THREATENING EVENTS SINCE WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR. UPON REPORTING THESE SAFETY ISSUES TO OUR LOCAL GRESHAM TOYOTA THEY DENIED THEIR WAS A PROBLEM. AFTER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO THE ASSISTANT SERVICE DEPT MANAGER HE ADMITTED TOYOTA HAD A SOFTWARE PROBLEM WITH THEIR ELECTRONIC SYSTEM AND WERE WORKING ON FIXING IT. TO DATE TOYOTA HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX OUR CAR. IT IS SCARY TO EVEN DRIVE TO THE STORE. YOU ARE N EVER SURE WHEN THE NEXT LIFE THREATENING EVENT WILL RANDOMLY OCCUR. I PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IN MAY OF 2006. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A FEW WEEKS IT WAS INCREASINGLY HARDER AND HARDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. 2007 CAMRY XLE HAD PERFORMANCE ISSUES, SLUGGISH WHEN ACCELERATING. *TS SHORTLY AFTER THE CONSUMER TOOK DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED SLUGGISH ACCELERATION, TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND DECELERATION A TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT ON A SCANNER AND TEST DRIVEN. THE RESULTS WERE GIVEN TO TOYOTA ENGINEERS WHO INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING PROPERLY.
