TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AFTER THREE SECONDS. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE OR ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE FOR 20-30 SECONDS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT ALL SPEEDS BETWEEN 1-100 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
I NOTICED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT THE CAR HESITATED ON ACCELERATION. I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT THAT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS NEW. I ALSO OWN A 1993 CAMRY, WHICH HAS NEVER GIVEN US A PROBLEM. BESIDES GAS AND OIL CHANGES THIS CAR STILL RUNS WELL. HAD I KNOWN THAT THIS NEWER MODEL WAS GOING TO BE SCARY TO DRIVE I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED IT. LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. IT CONTINUES TO HESITATE WHEN YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, IN REVERSE IT FLIES OUT OF THE GARAGE EVEN WHEN NOT PRESSING ON THE GAS...I REFUSE TO LET MY 16 YEAR OLD DRIVE IT AND FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM. PS I ALSO HAD TO HAVE MY TIRES CHANGED AFTER ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES, THEY WERE COMPLETELY WORN. *TR
I HAVE NOTICED HEAVY DECELERATION WHEN I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE MY 4 CYLINDER TOYOTA CAMRY LE. THIS IS TYPICALLY THE CASE WHEN THE COMPRESSOR IS ON. THE HESITATION IS SO BAD THAT I WANT TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR IN AN ATTEMPT TO PICK UP SPEED TO MERGE. SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I WILL BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE HESITATION. AFTER A DELAY OF ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS, THE CAR RESPONDS, BUT THAT'S ALMOST A LIFETIME WHEN TRYING TO PICK UP SPEED. *TR
THE "DESIGN" OF HOW THE VEHICLE IS TO OPERATE AND DRIVING PERFORMANCE ISSUES. POOR ACCELERATION, HESITATION, AUTOMATIC SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION WHEN DRIVING. GAS MILEAGE IS NOT AS MANUFACTURER STATED. FRONT TIRES WORE OUT AT 15K MILES. PER THE DEALERSHIP NO FRONT END PROBLEMS FOUND AND DO NOT KNOW WHY THE TIRES WORE OUT SO QUICK WHILE THE BACK TIRES ARE STILL GOOD. CONSTANT PULLING OF THE VEHICLE. IF I HIT A BUMP THE CAR AND STEERING WHEEL JERKS TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. ACCELERATION AND HESITATION IS A SAFETY ISSUE. SPEED OVERSHOOT AFTER HESITATION. TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO STOP WORKING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THIS IS HOW THE VEHICLE IS DESIGNED TO RUN. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE BULLETIN ISSUED IN SEPT 2006 REGARDING A DOWNLOAD OF NEW COMPUTER SOFTWARE OR OF THE FACT TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF ALL THE ISSUES MENTIONED. TO MY UNDERSTANDING IT DID NOT HELP ANY OF THE ISSUES. OVERALL THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO DRIVE FOR FEAR OF WRECKING. I AM CHECKING INTO LEMON LAW. THE DEALERSHIPS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THESE MANUFACTURING PROBLEMS. I HAVE HAD THESE PROBLEMS SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE AND STILL ARE ON GOING.
THE 2007 CAMRY LE HAS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED AT SLOW SPEEDS, NOTHING HAPPENS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN CHANGING LANES OR PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC. *JB

THE 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE 4CYL AUTOMATIC SEDAN EXPERIENCED HESITATION, UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND COMPLETE LACK OF RESPONSE TO THE DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL; TWO TIMES CREATIING SITUATIONS THAT EASILY COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGH-SPEED LANE OF A HIGHWAY. I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE CAR DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, THEN ROARED TO LIFE, BUT TOO LATE. I HAD TO BRAKE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE IT. THEN, ABOUT A YEAR LATER THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND THE ENGINE REVVED TO 6000 RPMS, AND WOULD NOT COME DOWN. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER AND SHUT IT DOWN. BOTH OF THESE TIMES I BROUGHT IT TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THE MOST RECENT TIME, AFTER THE STUCK ACCELERATOR PEDAL INCIDENT, THEY HAD IT ALL DAY AND SENT IT HOME WITH A SERVICE MAN WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SITUATION. I SERIOUSLY FEAR BODILY INJURY OR DEATH IN THE FUTURE IF THIS ISN'T FIXED AND FIXED RIGHT. *AK
I BOUGHT A 2007 CAMRY SE V6 AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. TRANSMISSION SLIPS, CREAKING DASH AND WINDSHIELD, A PILLAR AIRBAG COVER REPLACED 3 TIMES, CENTER CONSOLE STACK DOES NOT LINE UP, DASH IS NOT FLUSH NEXT TO A & B PILLARS (HAVEN'T SEEN ONE YET THAT WAS), KNOCKING NOISE IN REAR STRUT TOWER (FIXED AFTER TWO DEALER VISITS, THEY ADDED SOUND INSULATION), DRIVER SIDE ARMREST FABRIC PEELING OFF (SEEN AT FIRST DELIVERY OF VEHICLE ), RADIO HEAD UNIT FREEZES UP RANDOMLY (DEALER CANNOT FIX BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE), STEERING IS VERY LOOSE AND VEHICLE DRIFTS ON ROAD (SAFETY CONCERN, DEALER STATED CHARACTERISTIC OF TIRE), FRONT GRILL LOOSE ON RIGHT SIDE (DEALER FIXED) AND SEAT PLASTIC RAIL COVERS BROKEN UPON DELIVERY (DEALER FIXED). VEHICLE ALSO IDLES ROUGH IN COLD WEATHER (DEALER STATED BAD GAS).TWO TO THREE SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION (DEALER STATED THIS IS NORMAL). EACH DEALER VISIT REQUIRED ME TO LEAVE THE CAR ONCE FOR ORDERING THE PART AND A SECOND TIME FOR INSTALLATION. I HAVE WASTED WAY TOO MUCH TIME AT DEALERSHIPS HAVING MY CAR REPAIRED TO EVER CONSIDER BUYING ANOTHER TOYOTA AGAIN. OVER ALL I SHOULD HAVE TESTED OTHER CARS BEFORE BUYING TOYOTA BASED ON ITS RELIABILITY ALONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE QUARTS OF OIL HAD TO BE REPLACED EVERY 5,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE ENGINE WAS PULLED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WHEN USING THE CRUISE CONTROL THEN SPEED FLUCTUATES ON SLIGHT GRADES AND THE CAR SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTS TO 4TH AND SOMETIMES TO 3RD THIS IS ALARMING AND SHOULD NOT DO THIS > TOYOTA SAYS THIS IS NORMAL MY OTHER 4 CYL 2002 CAMRY DID NOT DO THIS. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INTO AN INTERSECTION; HOWEVER, AFTER REPEATED BRAKE APPLICATION, SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND SHE WAS ADVISED TO REMOVE THE FLOOR-MATS. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE MATS WERE REMOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 497 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
VEHICLE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATION AT ABOUT 20-40 MPH. THEN THE CAR JERKS FORWARD. THIS IS DANGEROUS IF YOU NEED TO MOVE RIGHT AWAY.
ON OCCASION, MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY STALLS UPON ACCELERATION. THIS CAUSES EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP. I RETURNED CAMRY TO TOYOTA ONLY A FEW DAYS AFTER PURCHASE- THEY REPLACED A SENSOR, BUT CAR STILL STALLS. I HAVE RETURNED CAMRY TO TOYOTA MANY TIMES FOR SAME STALL ISSUE. IN FACT, TOYOTA IS IN THE SHOP NOW WITH SAME COMPLAINT. THE ISSUE HAS NEVER BEEN REPAIRED. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE ON LATE APRIL OF 2006. SINCE THEN, I HAVE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES THE PRESENCE OF ACCELERATION PROBLEM. VEHICLE HESITATES WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN PRESSING THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY, THE CAR "SITS" ON THE ROAD AT THE CURRENT SPEED, AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS, IT KICKS FORWARD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, WHICH FOR ME IS EVERYDAY LIVING IN THE DC METROPOLITAN AREA. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES THAT I HAVE TO MOVE OUT OF THE TRAFFIC BECAUSE BY THE TIME MY CAR STARTED ACCELERATING, THE CAR IN FRONT IS BRAKING. OTHER CARS HAVE HAD TO MOVE AROUND ME BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AS WELL. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM READING THE POSTINGS IN THIS WEBSITE AND OTHERS. 8JB
WHEN CAR IS ACCELERATED FROM DEAD STOP, AS CAR PASSES 20 MPH, THE CAR SURGES, HUNTS FOR GEAR, UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS WILDLY AND SPORADICALLY, LURCHING AND OVER-REVVING TO 5,000 RPM OR HIGHER. CAR CANNOT BE SAFELY DRIVEN. HAD TO BE TOWED FOR SERVICE. *NM

I PURCHASED MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IN 2006 WHEN THE NEW MODEL FIRST CAME OUT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER BUYING THE CAR I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT A HESITATION AND ACCELERATION PROBLEM. I WANTED TO RETURN THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME NO IT WAS NOW A USED CAR. I CONTACTED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AS WELL AND IN 2007 I WAS TOLD IT IS PROBABLY AND ELECTRONICS PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN THE RECALL, I TOOK IT IN FOR THE SERVICE AND THE CAR IS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. TOYOTA HAS DISMISSED MY COMPLAINTS. I HAVE FELT FROM DAY ONE THAT THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND CONTINUES TO BE UNSAFE. TOYOTA REFUSES TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK, I HAVE LOST RESALE VALUE AND CANNOT EVEN SELL THE CAR NOW. I BOUGHT THE 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE AT THE END OF MARCH 06. MY COMPLAINT WITH THE ACCELERATION IS THE SAME COMPLAINT THAT OTHER CAMRY OWNERS HAVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY 8 TIMES IN REFERENCE TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE EIGHT TIMES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE TO CORRECT THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION; (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V388000: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE HAVING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MODIFIED TO A SMALLER LENGTH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THERE WERE NO RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
THROTTLE RESPONSE DELAY IN 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY (4 CYL. AUTO) CAMRY - BOUGHT NEW 4/06 FROM TOYOTA OF NASHUA (NH). DEFECT IS A DELAY OF 1 1/2 SECONDS IN THROTTLE RESPONSE. DELAY WAS MOST NOTICEABLE AT NORMAL URBAN TRAFFIC SPEEDS OF 35 TO 45 MPH. A LIGHT INCREASE IN THROTTLE AT CONSTANT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN THE 35 TO 45 MPH RANGE RESULTED IN THE ENGINE 1) USUALLY NOT REMAINING IN HIGH GEAR 2) HAVING NO RESPONSE FOR 1 1/2 SECONDS, AND 3) THEN ROUGHLY DOWN-SHIFTING, AS IF THE DRIVER HAD CALLED FOR STRONG ACCELERATION. THE CAR'S SPEED "SAGGED", AND THEN THE CAR'S ENGINE OVERSPED. THE DRIVER THEN HAD TO DECREASE THROTTLE TO PREVENT OVERSPEED IN TRAFFIC. PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC BECOMES UNPREDICTABLE AND DANGEROUS. DELAY AND/OR OVER-RESPONSE IN THE THROTTLE CONTROL'S ACTION MAY CREATE SKIDS ON WET AND ICY ROADS. LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVERS MAY BECOME UN-NERVED BY THIS KIND OF THROTTLE RESPONSE. DURING SERVICE APPOINTMENTS, THE DEALERSHIP SUPPLIED THREE 4 CYLINDER, AUTOMATIC 2007 CAMRYS AS "LOANERS". NONE OF THESE CARS DEMONSTRATED THE SAME DRIVE-TRAIN BEHAVIOR. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. SHE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN SHE STOPPED AND PROCEEDED TO MOVE FORWARD, SHE WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND FAILED TO STOP UNTIL SHE APPLIED EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE PEDAL. SHE SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES TO HER HIP, CHEST AND WAS PUT ON LIFE SUPPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THERE WERE NO DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE FIRST FAILURE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED PREVIOUSLY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED THAT HER VIN WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL FOR THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3666. UPDATED 4/26/10 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE INTO AN INTERSECTION. SHE WAS HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN TWO ACCIDENTS WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND SUBSEQUENTLY SHE WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPDATED 06/18/10.*JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE ENGINE HESITATED WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE HESITATION OF THE ENGINE LASTED BETWEEN 30 TO 60 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER, WHO DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE THERE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT OFFERED NO SOLUTION. UPDATED 02/12/07. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY REPROGRAMMED ENGINE COMPUTER. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. AS OF OCTOBER 9, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. CRUISE DOES NOT MAINTAIN SPEED WHILE GOING DOWN GRADE. ACCELERATING FROM LOWER SPEEDS OR A STANDING START IS PRECEDED BY A DISTINCT HESITATION THAT IS A POTENTIAL DRIVING HAZARD. *NM
MY 2007 CAMRY SMELLS HORRIBLY LIKE MOLD AND MILDEW. THE MOLD IS IN THE A/C BUT I CAN'T GET SUNNYSIDE TOYOTA TO REPLACE THE A/C AND CLEAN THE VENTS. WHAT DO I DO? I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN MARCH 2006. I FINALLY FOUND A DOCTOR WHO COULD DIAGNOSE WHAT WAS WRONG. THE MOLD IN THE A/C OF MY TOYOTA HAS CAUSED MY LEG MUSCLES TO BE WEAKEN SO I HAVE ALOT OF PAIN WALKING AND A LARGE BUMP ON MY LEG. I LIVE IN CANADA BUT I THOUGHT THIS WAS RELATIVE AS I NOTICE A RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR CAR FOR THIS PRECISE PROBLEM. I HAD A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID WAS HIT ON FEB 12,2008, BUT A MINIVAN THAT HAD LOST CONTROL AND COME INTO OUR LANE. MY TOYOTA CAMRY WAS HIT FRONT OFFSET, POSSIBLY TWO IMPACTS FROM MINIVAN AS THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS CRUSHED. THE CAR WAS WRITTEN OFF AND THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG ON THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DEPLOYED AND THE KNEE AIR BAG WAS DEPLOYED. ,BUT EVENTHOUGH MY FRONT DRIVER DOOR WAS CRUSHED IN AND I COULD NOT OPEN IT MYSELF AND SOMEONE OPENED MY VEHICLE FROM THE OUTSIDE, THE SIDE AIR BAG WAS NOT DEPLOYED NOR WAS THE CURTAIN SHIELD AIR BAG DEPLOYED. I SUFFERED A MILD CONCUSSION FROM THE ACCIDENT AND AM STILL RECEIVING TREATMENT TO DATE. THANK YOU *TR
ALMOST EVERY TIME WE EXIT OUR VEHICLE WE GET A VERY STRONG ELECTRICAL SHOCK. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY DAY BUT APPROXIMATELY 3 OR 4 DAYS A WEEK. WE ARE PRETTY TIRED OF GETTING SHOCKED AS IT IS NOT A LITTLE SHOCK BUT ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU JUMP. WE TRY TO TAP THE FRAME OF THE DOOR BEFORE WE CLOSE IT TO RELEASE THE ELECTRICAL CURRENT. THERE IS A MAJOR DELAY AT TIMES WHEN THE CAR IS ASKED TO ACCELERATE- IF GOING APPROX 20 MPH AND WANT TO ACCELERATE INTO FAST LANE YOU NEVER KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE THE CAR TO RESPOND TO THE DEPRESSED GAS PEDDLE. THE CAR ALSO APPEARS TO DROP A GEAR OCC WHEN SLOWING DOWN. TOYOTA STATES THIS IS BECAUSE THE CAR HAS LEARNED THE WAY YOU LIKE TO DRIVE AND RESPONDS THAT WAY. WON'T ALLOW ANYONE ELSE TO DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THIS DANGER AND UNPREDICTABILITY HAS ALWAYS ACTED THIS WAY. *TR
I PURCHASED MY TOYOTA CAMRY LE IN JUNE 2007, SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE HAD SEVERAL FRONT END ALIGNMENTS ON MY VEHICLE BY DIFFERENT BUSINESSES. AFTER THE ALIGNMENTS, THE CAR STILL PULLS TO EITHER SIDE AND DOESN'T RIDE STRAIGHT. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THE CAR ALIGNMENT IS FINE. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR CAMRY'S ALSO. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN THE "UP" POSITION. VISOR HAS BEEN OPENED LESS THAN 100 TIMES IN THE LIFE OF THE CAR. AFTER BEING OPENED, THE VISOR WILL NO LONGER OPERATE. IT HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN IMPAIRING THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY OF THE ROAD. A SUN VISOR IS ONE OF THE LAST ITEMS THAT SHOULD EVER BREAK IN A CAR. THE VISOR IS SUBSTANDARD AND CREATES A DANGEROUS VISIBILITY PROBLEM.
DRIVER BELT/TENSIONER FAILURE AT LESS THAN 46,000 MILES ON A NEW MODEL. NOISE UNDER THE HOOD WHEN AIR CONDITIONER IS TURNED ON. DRIVER BELT HAS LOST TENSION. VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD. *TR
TOYOTAS LATEST RECALL SHOULD NOT BE A FLOOR MAT OR STUCK ACCELERATOR PROBLEM. MY 2007 CAMRY HAS EXPERIENCED THIS SCENERIO AT LEAST SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR (EVEN THOUGH I KNOW IT EXISTS). THE PROBLEM IS THE DESIGN OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL (WHEN BRAKING) IS CLOSER TO THE FLOOR THAN THE HEIGHT OF THE UN-DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR PEDEL. IF THE DRIVER HAS BIG FEET OR IS NOT PRECISE WHEN PLACING THE FOOT, IT IS POSSIBLE TO DEPRESS BOTH PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. THE HARDER ONE TRIES TO STOP, THE FASTER THE ENGINE WANTS TO RUN. IN MY VEHICLES FROM THE PAST, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, WHEN NOT DEPRESSED, WAS CLOSER TO THE FLOOR THAN THE POSITION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL DURING A VERY HARD (EMERGENCY) BRAKING ACTION. TOYOTA'S FIRMWARE FIX OF NOT ALLOWING THE ACCELERATOR SIGNAL TO OVERRIDE THE BRAKING SIGNAL IS NOT A GOOD FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. SOMETIMES IT IS DESIRABLE TO INCREASE THE SPEED OF THE ENGINE BEFORE RELEASING THE BRAKE TO PROVENT ROLLING BACKWARDS WHEN STARTING ON A GRADE. PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ERGONOMICS OF HOW THE PEDALS AND THE HUMAN DRIVER INTERFACE AND PROPER ENGINEERING DESIGN IS THE SOLUTION. *TR

SOMETIMES WHEN THE CONSUMER PRESSED THE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SMOOTHLY, OTHER TIMES IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THERE WAS NO GAS GOING INTO THE ENGINE, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE WOULD TAKE OFF. 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPLACEMENT BATTERY. *TGW THE CONSUMER TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRS COMPLETED. AN HOUR LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL STATING HE NEEDED A NEW BATTERY DUE TO CORROSION, THE FUEL INDUCTION SVC WAS DIRTY, A BRAKE FLUID FLUSH, POWER STEERING FLUSH AND THE CABIN FILTER WAS DIRTY. THE CONSUMER ADVISED THE DEALER HE DIDN'T WANT ANY OF THE ABOVE REPAIRS DONE. ABOUT AN HALF HOUR LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM THE DEALER STATING THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE RECALL WORK UNLESS HE PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY. THE NEXT WEEK, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN APPROVED INDEPENDENT GARAGE AND WAS ADVISED THE ONLY ITEM THAT WAS NEEDED WAS THE CABIN FILTER. *JB
