Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Volkswagen CC, 2010-2014 Golf, 2010-2014 Eos, 2007-2010 Passat Sedan and Wagon, and 2012-2014 Passat vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
Remedy Status
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 16, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69Q9. Note: This recall partially supersedes recall 16V-078.
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Volkswagen CC, and Passat, 2010-2013 Eos, 2011-2014 Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Tiguan, and 2012-2014 Jetta Sportwagen vehicles. In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
Remedy Status
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-822-8987.
Drove the car to the bank when trying to leave the car would not start. We towed the car to the volkswagen dealership `and they said it the engine and some other faults totaling over $21000.00 Now the car is back home and not repaired.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen EOS. The contact stated while coming to a complete stop, the vehicle stalled. The message "Transmission Overheating. See Owner’s Manual" was displayed. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. However, the failure reoccurred increasingly while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V333000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer advised the contact to follow up with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE 2017 EOS..LIKE RELIGION ..I HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVIED REGULARLY OIL CHANGES AND BASIC MAINTENANCE AS PRESCRIBED BY MY MECHANIC 97,517 AND THE MOTOR GOES OUT ...IN A BUSY INTERSECTION NO POWER LIGHTS "ALL COME ON'' LOOKS LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE ON MY DASH... TOW TO MY MECHANIC ..CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE..HE TELLS ME... HOW CAN THIS BE...HIS RESPONCE IS...ENGINES JUST SOMETIMES FAIL NEVER A VW AGAIN...I OWN SEVERAL VEHICLIES ....VWs WILL NOT BE ON THE LIST EVER AGAIN..
ABS CONTROL MODULE IS DISPLAYING FAULT CODE 01130; THIS IS A RECALL ON CERTAIN VW AND AUDI'S MANUFACTURED IN 2009 THRU 2014. CAR IS SKIDDING ON WET ROAD AS THIS AFFECTS TRACTION CONTROL, TOO. HAS VW CONSIDERED A BROADER RECALL OF THE ABS MODULE.
ESP/ABS ERROR. LIGHTS ON. I ALMOST CRASHED INTO SOMEONE'S CAR DUE TO MY ABS BRAKES FAILING ON ME. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MILES PER HOUR. CAME UP ON A TRAFFIC JAM AT A STAND STILL. SCARIEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE. THOUGH I WAS GOING TO DIE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.
WHEN THE ABS, BRAKE AND OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON, THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. IT WAS AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES WHERE I SKID AND THE LIGHTS CAME ON. I LIVE IN AN AREA WITH SNOW AND MY ABS HAS NOT WORKED SINCE THE LIGHT CAME ON, MAKING DRIVING VERY UNSAFE. I'M AWARE PREVIOUS MODELS OF MY CAR HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH DEFECTIVE OR FAILED ABS SYSTEMS/ANTI-SKID/BRAKING SYSTEMS WHICH RAISES CONCERN FOR MY MODEL YEAR.
THE CAR GEAR PRNDS FLASHES. THE CAR DOESNT DO INTO GEAR. WHEN PUT IN REVERSE, THE CAR STAYS IN NEUTRAL. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS CAN ARISE IN THE HIGHWAY SOMETIMES THE CAR FAILS. NEEDS TO BE RESTARTED.
SEPT 20515 - SAFETY RECALL 69L2 - STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING, REPLACED 2016 - WENT OUT AGAIN 9-20, 5 YEARS LATER. VW DENIED REPLACEMENT AS IT IS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT DOESN'T STAY ON. THE HORN, DOESN'T WORK, OR OTHER CONTROL ON STEERING COLUMN. STEERING WHEEL STARTED SQUEAKING IN AUG. 2020. IT STARED AS I WAS DRIVING, HAD TO USE HORN TO STOP SOMEONE FROM BACKING INTO ME AND IT DIDN'T WORK, THOUGHT I PERHAPS DIDN'T PRESS HORN HARD ENOUGH, NOT THE CASE, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ALSO, CRUISE CONTROL, RADIO, ETC. ANYTHING CONTROLLED BY STEERING WHEEL DO NOT WORK. I NEED TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. ALSO THE "AMBIENT TEMP SENSOR" STOPPED WORKING, REPLACED I HAD TO PAY.

IN ADDITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BEEPING NOISE DETECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED TO CONTACT THE LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO VOLKSWAGEN OF NAPLES (601 AIRPORT ROAD SOUTH, NAPLES, FL 34104 (239) 302-3287) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,466. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN EOS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE EMITTED A LOUD SOUND AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND THE RPM INCREASED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT SHIFTED FROM LOW GEAR BACK TO DRIVE SEVERAL TIMES AND THE VEHICLE RESPONDED AND OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT DROVE SAFELY BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER NOR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V333000 (POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,209.
MY CAR DOESN'T ALWAYS GO IN REVERSE. THE REM PANEL SIGNAL GOES FROM 0-5 IN MINUTES BUT FEELS LIKE IT'S STALLED. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. I READ THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL BECAUSE OF A GEAR MALFUNCTION. AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CARS UP TO 10YEARS OLD OR 100,000 MILES. I FIT INTO THIS CATEGORY. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I START THE CAR AND STOP AT A STOP SIGN. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO VW DEALERSHIPS AND PRIVATE DEALERS AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE IT OUT.
VEHICLE STALLS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TAKE OFF VEHICLE NEARLY DIES WHEN COMING TO A STOP. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THE EARLY VERSION OF THIS TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN HIGHLY PROBLEMATIC. I HAVE CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN AMERICA AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO KIND OF RECALL FOR THIS CAR RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HOWEVER READ OF MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ VOLKSWAGEN HAS GIVEN A GOODWILL EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS, HOWEVER THEY SAY OURS IS NOT PART OF THIS EVEN THOUGH OUR CAR WAS BUILT IN EARLY NOVEMBER 2009. OUR CAR IS A 2010 AND HAS MOST ALL THE SYMPTOMS THE 2008 AND 2009 HAVE/HAD THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT. IN MY PERSONAL OPINION AND BEING A MECHANIC WORKING FOR A NATIONALLY KNOWN TRACTOR DEALER MYSELF I FEEL MORE SHOULD BE DONE BY VOLKSWAGEN, EVEN IF THEY ARE PRESSURED TO DO SO. I FEEL OUR CAR SPECIFICALLY IS A BIT DANGEROUS AND I FEAR IT WILL ONLY BECOME WORSE WITH TIME.

SUNCOAST PORSCHE (5005 S TAMIAMI TRAIL, SARASOTA, FL 34231, (941) 923-1700) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE ABS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REITERATED WHAT THE DEALER STATED. THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE MANUFACTURER ALLOW THE DEALER TO MAKE THE SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS (FIRMWARE UPDATE), WHICH WOULD MAKE IT EASIER TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,100.
AT 33882 MILES, THE REAR MAIN SEAL IS LEAKING AND THE PCV VALVE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. REPAIR WAS IDENTIFIED DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALER.
MY 2010 VW EOS IS VERY FLAWED. IT WILL SOMETIMES RUN PERFECTLY AND OTHER TIMES EVEN RIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND WON'T RE ENGAGE. SOMETIMES RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OR JUST TRYING TO PULL OUT SOMEWHERE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!!!

The contact stated that white smoke started coming from the vehicle. The contact steered the vehicle to the side of the road. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where the water pump was replaced. She also stated that the ABS warning light had illuminated on the instrument panel which resulted in the engine not starting. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired for the ABS failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. The VIN was not available.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MULTIPLE EXTERIOR LIGHTS STARTED GOING OUT INCLUDING HEADLIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS, FOG LIGHTS. LIGHTS CONTINUED TO GO IN AND OUT. TOOK CAR TO VW DEALERSHIP. IT WAS FOUND THE FUSE AND FUSEBOX WERE MELTED. OTHER VW MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THE VW EOS IS NOT RECALLED DUE TO THE MELTING FUSE BOX. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS RARE TO HAPPEN. VW CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL NOT COVER ANY OF THE COSTS DUE TO THE FUSE AND FUSE BOX MELTING. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN.
AFTER DRIVING MY CAR OF AND ON FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS, I WAS LEAVING FROM A FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY AND REALIZED MY CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. THIS WAY VERY HUMITATING. AFTER SPEAKING TO A VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP, THEY ADVISED ME THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR SOMETIME. WELL I'M SORRY VOLKSWAGEN I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO WASTE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY KNOW THAT THIS HAS BEEN A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I HAVE CHILDREN THAT I HAVE TO TRANSPORT BACK AND FORTH AND AT THIS POINT I DONT FEEL THAT MY VOLKSWAGEN IS A RELIABLE CAR. PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS A RECALL IN PLACE FOR THIS PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. HANOVER VOLKSWAGEN (1850 CARLISLE STREET, HANOVER, PENNSYLVANIA 17331, (717) 797-4721) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BASED ON DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE: P27-11. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO PART AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT REFERENCED TSB NUMBER: 30-14-03 FROM AUGUST OF 2014 AS A POTENTIAL CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
