WHILE PASSING A VEHICLE, ACCELERATOR IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE TO OVER 115 MPH QUICKLY, AND THE SPEED CONTINUED TO CLIMB. COULD NOT DEACCELERATE. BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE, NO LUCK, SHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR, NO LUCK, PUSHED MANY BUTTONS ON STEERING WHEEL, NO LUCK, ACCEPTED THE FACT THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A HIGH SPEED DELIBERATE ROLLOVER. FINALLY AT THE LAST POSSIBLE MOMENT, THROTTLE DISENGAGED.
2006 BUICK LUCERNE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ACCELERATION ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT 90 MPH, AS SHE WAS PULLING OUT OF A DRIVE-THRU. IN ORDER TO AVOID GOING INTO TRAFFIC, SHE TURNED INTO A VACANT LOT, WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND TOTALED THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR FIVE DAYS. *JB

THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES. WE ASKED THE BUICK DEALER IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY COMPLAINTS AND THEY SAID NO. IT HAS HAPPENED THE LAST 4 YEARS AND AGAIN TODAY AND IT IS KIND OF SCARY AS IT COULD BE DANGEROUS IF WE DIDN'T PUT OUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE FIRMLY WHEN IT HAPPENS. WHAT HAPPENS IS IF WE ARE PULLING INTO A PARKING PLACE OR OUR GARAGE SLOWING TO A STOP THE ACCELERATOR GOES DOWN ON ITS OWN AND IF WE DID NOT PUT OUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT WOULD TAKE OFF ON ITS OWN. IT LAST ONLY A FEW SECONDS MAYBE 5 OR SO AND THEN IT STOPS. WE HAVE CHECKED THE FLOOR MAT AND THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. ON ONE OCCASION, WHEN THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO COULD PROVIDE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES BUT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,591.
I PULLED UP TO THE BACK OF THE BUILDING WHERE I WORK TO PARK. AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO BRAKE, THE CAR SHOT FORWARD OUT OF CONTROL. PUTTING BRAKES TO THE FLOOR DID NOT STOP IT. THE BUILDING STOPPED IT. WHEN I BACKED AWAY, THE CAR SHOT BACKWARD OUT OF CONTROL AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A STORAGE UNIT. THE LOCAL BUICK DEALER CONDUCTED A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THE 2006 BUICK LUCERNE AND COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SPEEDOMETER, WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 10-50 MPH DURING THE DAYTIME. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REMOTE SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2006 BUICK LUCERNE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND TRYING TO GO FORWARD. THE VEHICLE DIDN'T STALL, BUT WHEN PUTTING THE FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON ,AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE ONLY HAD A CURRENT ODOMETER READING OF 9,500 MILES, AND FELT THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. DURING HIS SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY INSTALLED A VEHICLE EVENT DATA RECORDER, AND HE HAS BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO DEALER ON FOUR OTHER OCCASIONS, AND HAS CAUGHT FOUR SNAP SHOTS WITH THE DATA RECORDING SYSTEM. THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE, AND THE VEHICLE RAN WELL FOR A MONTH, BUT THE SAME PROBLEMS RECURRED, THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,500.*AK
I PURCHASED A NEW 2006 BUICK LUCERNE CXL IN 2006. I HAVE NUMEROUS TIMES EXPERIENCED ACCELERATION IN MY VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A BUICK DEALER AND THEY DROVE IT AND SAY THEY DIDN'T NOTICE IT. I HAVE ALSO TALKED TO A GMC DEALER IN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS AND ASKED IT ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD A VEHICLE THAT JUST SPEEDS UP ON IT'S OWN. I AM FROM A VERY SMALL TOWN IN MISSOURI AND 3 OTHER PEOPLE HAVE PURCHASED THE SAME BUICK LUCERNE AS MINE AND ONE OF THEM SAYS HE THINKS HIS VEHICLE MAY HAVE SPED UP BEFORE, BUT HE THINKS HE MAY HAVE LET THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. THE FIRST TIME THIS VEHICLE DID THIS TO ME WAS ON MY WAY TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS. I COME FROM A SMALL TOWN THERE IS REALLY NO WHERE THAT I CAN USE THE CRUISE CONTROL EXCEPT ON LARGER TRIPS. WE HAVE A LOT OF HILLS AND CURVES. GOING TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS THE SPEED LIMIT IS 70. I USED THE CRUISE CONTROL. I GOT BEHIND A TRAILER THAT WAS GOING VERY SLOW AND TRAFFIC WAS A LITTLE BUSY, SO I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND WHEN TRAFFIC WAS CLEAR I PASSED THE TRAILER. I WAS GOING TO RESUME THE CRUISE CONTROL, BUT BEFORE I EVEN TOUCHED THE BUTTON, MY CAR TOOK OFF AND I WAS AT 93 MILES AN HOUR AND I HIT THE BRAKE AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. I THEN TAPPED THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES QUICKLY AND IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. WHEN I GOT THE SPEED DOWN TO 55, I THEN APPLIED MY FOOT BACK TO THE GAS PEDAL AND WHEN I DID, THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT DOWN OR STUCK, BUT I COULD FEEL A LITTLE SOMETHING IN IT. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU DO NOT FEEL IN IT ALL THE TIME. I TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED AND TOLD MY HUSBAND ABOUT IT AND HE SAID YOU MUST HAS HIT SOMETHING WRONG. I SAID NO I'M TELLING YOU IT DID IT ON IT'S OWN. I GO TO WORK AT 4:00 AM IN THE MORNING. WHERE I LIVE THERE IS A LOT OF DEER, SO I DO NOT DRIVE FAST FOR ABOUT 3 MILES TO WORK. ONE MORNING I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH AND WHEN I CAME TO ABOUT THE TOP OF A LITTLE HILL MY CAR AGAIN DID THE SAME THING. IT JUST TAKES OFF AND IT CATCHES YOU OFF GUARD. *TR
