2017 Chevrolet Corvette

Driving this vehicle yesterday, the power steering assist failed. Fortunately, I was traveling at a low speed at the time. A message appeared on the dash telling me there was a power steering issue and to drive cautiously. I can make this vehicle available for inspection upon request. I have not yet taken the vehicle to the dealer; nor had it inspected by any other party. The message in the dash did not appear until the component had failed.

Description: On June 23, 2025, I was involved in a traffic collision in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to the police report, another driver failed to yield while exiting a private driveway and struck the front of my vehicle while I was stopped in the center turn lane preparing to turn left. As the vehicle entered my lane, I pressed the horn continuously in an attempt to alert the driver. My right hand was positioned on the horn pad in the center of the steering wheel. At the moment of impact, the driver airbag deployed while my hand remained on the horn pad. I immediately experienced severe pain in my right wrist. Medical evaluation confirmed fractures of the distal radius and ulna requiring surgical fixation with plates and screws. My purpose in submitting this report is to document a potential safety concern involving the interaction between horn activation and airbag deployment. Activating the horn during an imminent collision may be a foreseeable defensive maneuver, which could place the driver’s hand directly over the airbag module at the moment of deployment. I respectfully submit this information for safety review in case similar incidents have been reported.

Noticed one wheel kept leaking down slowly. After a couple of weeks of filling the air in the tires, it was down near the warning pressure again on one rear wheel. Decided to remove the wheel to inspect the cause of the leak. Upon removal of the wheel, there were two noticeable cracks on the inner bead diameter of the wheel. I know this has been a big issue for all the C7 GS corvettes, because this is my 4th C7 GS with the same issue. All my previous C7 GS have had all the factory rear wheels to crack. I don't understand why there has not been a recall since every C7 GS I've owned had this same issue on all the rear wheels. I typically do my own repairs unless they are covered under warrant. I have worked on automobiles for over 35 years in my personal garage and it has become an expectation that any C7 GS or Z06 with a rear tire leaking is caused by a cracked wheel. Have contacted Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet in Charlotte NC about the cracked wheel before deciding repair method that will be taken.

Rear tire leaking air, took it to shop and they stated i have a one inch crack in my wheel

Cracks found on 3 of 4 wheels when the wheels were off for cleaning. Cracks are on 2 front wheels and 1 rear. Cracks are located on the inner edge of the barrel, and extend up the edge, then about 0.5 to 1.0in toward the centerline of the wheel. Further cracking could cause loss of air pressure.

It has been well documented that the oem wheels on this model and the Z06 of similar years are of poor quality and crack under normal road use, posing a serious safety hazard. What I learned today, that I was not previously aware of, is that they crack on the inside lip, often extending into the barrel of the wheel. A crack in this location is virtually impossible to detect, especially on black wheels like mine and even though I have my own 2 post lift and routinely inspect the vehicle, I was not aware of 3 cracks in my 2 rear wheel that were discovered at Ciocca, Chevrolet in AC today during a routine alignment with road force balancing at my request. I have attached an invoice to replace both rear wheels that was provided by the dealer. The problem is that GM never addressed this issue with a forged wheel upgrade. The extra wheel width on the Grand Sport and Z06 clearly require a forged wheel to prevent routine cracking under normal use. Oem wheels are cast. As a long time GM buyer with 2 current GM vehicles (corvette and suburban), and 2 past GM vehicles (corvette and tahoe), I expected at least a conversation regarding a sensible next step in making my care usable and capable on road. Instead I was told that there were no open recalls and that there was nothing to be done. GM has built a 200mph capable vehicle, advertised as a track ready, that can't even drive down normal roads, without cracking it's wheels. This poses an extreme safety risk to everyone on the road. The fact that GM is not offering to replace all wheels on affected vehicles is gross negligence.

2017 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Leak at the Primary Fuel Pump Module Flange. Problem causes fuel odor and loss of fuel on garage floor. Vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by Chevrolet dealership.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the EPS warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway, turned off, and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V086000 (STEERING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,000.

Cracked (chrome) wheels on 2017 Corvette Grand Sport at 30228 miles. The tire icon appeared on the driver information display. Passenger side rear tire. After inflating the tire I took it to my dealer, Jorns Chevrolet where I purchased it brand new. Jorns is a leading Corvette dealer in Wisconsin. The dealer actually had a set of after market replacement wheels on display in the showroom. The technician removed the wheel and pointed out a large crack causing the slow leak. Not wanting to pay an exorbitant amount for one wheel and gamble on the other three I decided to replace all four with forged aftermarket wheels. Now, the technician discovered a crack in the driver side rear wheel also. Jorns explained that they have replaced wheels, with similar problems, on forty other Corvettes! Appealing to GM was a futile waste of time. GM skillfully crafted a policy to claim any sort of compensation virtually impossible. Initial contact requires the owner to deal with some appointed law firm and comply with their front line screening. IF you succeed with that, mountains of documentation are required. Very disappointing considering, the frequency of failures and owners history with a known problem with a premium brand model.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the rims were inspected, and the contact became aware that the rims were cracked in five locations. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle was shaking and vibrating abnormally. The vehicle was diagnosed by a dealer; however, the vehicle was not repaired, and the rims were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

Gas tank / filler neck has a leak within 7000 miles. Leaves garage smelling like fuel. Explosion or fire risk

2017 Corvette power steering assist failed while driving as described exactly in NHTSA recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V086000. Dealer claims recall is not included for my vehicle identification number. Car only has 5100 miles on it and failed exactly as recall described and nearly caused a collision as the vehicle is extremely hard to steer when power assist fails. I believe my VIN should be included in the recall. The vehicle repairs have not been completed yet.

Wheel rims on the C7 Corvette are subject to either cracking or bending resulting in a sudden loss of air pressure and could cause a loss of steering control or blowout

The left rear wheel of this vehicle has two major cracks in it. The tire has had a slow leak for the past couple of months as indicated by the low-tire warning light on the dashboard. I took it to a Discount Tire Outlet in an effort to find and repair the leak, and upon inspection the technician found the two cracks and pointed them out to me. Obviously, if the tire were to blow out at any speed it would endanger the lives of me and any of my passengers, as well as the people in other vehicles around me. The vehicle manufacturer, General Motors, is very well aware of this problem as it has received a number of lawsuits over this specific issue. To date, General Motors has refused to replace these defective wheels, or to provide any other type of relief to Corvette owners.

My right rear tire developed a slow leak, losing approximately 2 pounds per day. I added air to the tire until I had the opportunity to go to my local Chevrolet dealer, Rick Hendrick Chevy. They inspected the wheels and tires. They found cracks in both rear and the right front wheels. I have read about this situation for several years and had hoped I wasn't going to have this problem. This situation is widespread throughout all seventh generation (C7) Z06 and Grand Sport Corvettes. I know that Chevy dealers are instructed to say they have no knowledge of this issue there are hundreds of cases reported in The Corvette Forum. Several owners sought arbitration through the Better Business Bureau and won. Chevrolet is still blaming drivers for the wheel problems and they refuse to pay for the repairs. The estimate I received on Saturday, February, 3rd, 2024 is $6,226. It's no coincidence that Chevy decided to install forged wheels instead of the cast wheels that are involved in this. If you have the opportunity, have GM provide you with sales numbers for the wheels for the C7 Z06 and Grand Sport. I'm sure you will see a significant difference between those part numbers and those for the Stingray models. Although many owners are buying forged wheels from aftermarket sources in order to avoid the cracking problem again. As far as GM claiming this is a rare occurrence, I ask you read an article in the 2024 edition of "Corvette Magazine 2024 buyers guide on page 99 titled Real World Buy". The article states "As most are aware, GM let down many Grand Sport and Z06 owners. Both wheel designs crack too easily. Usually on the inner rim where there is no support for the 12 inch tunnel". I believe that this issue deserves some investigation by your department. Thank you for your time

Left rear tire was going flat regularly.I took it to the tire store and they said all parts of tire were ok but the Wheel was Cracked. The first warning I had was Dec 29,2020 and then Dec 20,2021-It had been examine by dealers and nothing was said. It began regularly Dec 9,2023 and will go down between 2 days and 2 weeks since. I took it into Folsom Chevrolet on March 5 and they said the tires were ok ,but nothing about the wheel. I took it to tire America on March 23 and they found the wheel crack.

On 11/29/2023 I brought my 2017 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport to my local Chevrolet Dealer (Maritime Chevrolet in Fairfield, Connecticut) because both rear tires were rapidly losing air (brand new tires had just been installed 4 days prior by this same dealership). Upon inspection, the dealership discovered multiple cracks in both rear wheels causing the tires to lose air. The service manager told me he looked into the issue and discovered multiple bulletins regarding this problem and said that General Motors is aware of the faulty wheels, however they are not willing pick up the cost on replacing the defective wheels or offer a safe alternative. The dealership wants to replace the 2 cracked wheels for $900 each (and even offered the pay for half the cost). The replacement wheels are the exact same as the defective ones and will likely crack again. This is an incredible safety hazard and I am now fearful to drive this car that only has 13,000 miles on it. I have owned the car since new and have never abused it and it is driven very little. If the tires lose enough pressure while driving it could possibly lead to an serious accident. After further research online, this is a well known defect and safety issue that has been documented by many different sources. Hundreds, if not thousands of owners have complained of this exact same safety issue, and I believe there is a class action lawsuit in regards to it, although I am not sure where that stands. The Infotainment System (Radio) on my 2017 Chevrolet Grand Sport Corvette suddenly and without warning malfunctioned/failed on or around in 2023, whereby the eight inch screen on the Infotainment System went completely black/blank, whereby my radio produced no audio sound nor allowed me the ability to view the screen (on the Infotainment System) while placing my vehicle in reverse-which is very useful when having to place the vehicle in reverse. I personally believe that during the period (2023 thru most of 2024) in which my Infotainment System was not working properly, that my safety and/or the safety of others was placed at risk due to being unable to use/view the rearview camera while placing my car in reverse. In August of 2024, I reached out to Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center (by writing a letter) re: this matter and requesting financial assistance to repair my Infotainment System. I submitted verification with my letter, that the matter I was writing about was "a well known issue/problem" as reported by Corvette Magazine (which I subscribe to) and with computer prints/verification(s) of discussions in Corvette Enthusiasts internet chat rooms, whereby several Corvette owners also reported having issues/problems with their Infotainment System malfunctioning. Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center replied to my letter and agreed to reimburse me for half of the $1700 required to repair the radio/Infotainment System. . Genesis Chevrolet in Eastpointe, MI. completed the repair of my Infotainment System.
