The dash of my Chevy Silverado is cracked and continues to crack, on 9.27.2023 a couple of large pieces broke completely out of the dash which is right by the airbag on the right side of the dash. Now I have a gaping hole. As far as I see at this time there are no recalls for the dash.
Frame has rusted out beyond repair
I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED INNER AND OUTER ROCKER PANELS ON BOTH SIDES, REPLACE COMPLETE BED 6-14-2019 AND NOW MY WHOLE FRAME FROM THE COWL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE 405 FREEWAY MY DASH BOARD STARTED TO CRACK AND HAS BEEN CRACKING PIECES OF THE DASH HAVE FALLEN DOWN BY MY FEET BRAKE PEDAL AREA . THE DASH IS SLOWLY GETTING WORSE AND SCARES ME.

MY 2007 CHEVY SILVERADO NEW BODY STYLE THE BED NEEDED REPLACED WITH 116000 ON IT SO WHEN I TOOK THE BED OFF I NOTICED THE FRAME WAS SHOT IF YOU WANT MORE PHOTOS I KNOW I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM IN FEBRUARY BUT I DIDN'T KNOW I COULD DO A COMPLAINT TO YOU ALL ABOUT THE SAFETY I ALSO CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE CONCERN AND THEY DIDN'T REALLY CARE ABOUT IT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT PASS INSPECTION BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FRAME WAS PATCHED WITH ADHESIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO GET INSPECTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REMEDY WAS INSUFFICIENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,331.
ENGINE BURNS THROUGH OIL AND ALWAYS NEEDS ADDITIONAL OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THERE IS NO SIGNS OF AN OIL LEAK NOR IS THERE ANY SMOKE. ALSO THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK IS COMEPLETELY RUSTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKING. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT DUE TO THE CRACK. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V383000 (AIR BAGS). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
MY DASHBOARD IS CRACKING AROUND AIRBAG, A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM VEHICLES. I WAITING FOR THE DAY WHEN MY AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND I GET IMPALED WITH A PIECE OF PLASTIC. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE.
MULTIPLE CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD IN AND AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND DRIVERS SIDE. PIECES BECOME A HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION AS THEY COULD BECOME PROJECTILES. DASH CRACKS LEAD TO LOSS OF STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE DASH SYSTEM WHICH MAY ALSO IMPEDE THE ABILITY OF THE AIRBAG TO FUNCTION. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED AND REPORTED BY MULTITUDES OF CONSUMERS THROUGHOUT THE NATION. GM/CHEVROLET REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY SUPPORT WHEN CONTACTED VIA PHONE. THE LOSS OF STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY ALSO POSES A HAZARD AS THE PIECES VIBRATE AND CAUSE A DISTRACTION FOR THE DRIVER. MY DASH BOARD WAS REPLACED AT APPROX. 80000 MILES DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE IN NEARLY THE SAME LOCATION. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL AND/OR A STREAMLINED AVENUE TO REPAIR THE KNOWN DEFECT. THERE ALSO SHOULD BE SOME REQUIREMENT FOR ENGINEERING TO REVIEW THE DESIGN AND REMEDY THE SITUATION FULLY.
DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED MAKING IT A SAFETY CONCERN FROM THE AIR BAGS. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. NOW THE TOTAL DASHBOARD HAS COMPLETELY CRACKED.
DASH IS CRACKED IN THREE PLACES. IN CASE OF AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT THE DASH COULD BREAK INTO MANY PIECE ACTING LIKE SHRAPNEL. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AS GM KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
CRACKED DASH NEAR MY AIR BAG PROVIDE A BIG HAZARD. I HAVE OTHER CRACKS AROUND MY DASHBOARD ALSO, BUT THE THING THAT SCARES ME THE MOST IS THE CRACKS BY MY AIRBAG. I COULD LEAD TO PICES OF SHARP PLASTIC FLYING TO MY PASSENGER IF THE AIR BAG EVER GOES OFF. PLEASE WE NEED A RECALL.
DASH IS CRACKED IN 2 PLACES. ONE BY PASSENGER AIR BAG AND ONE IN MIDDLE.
THE FORWARD DASH HAS CONTYTO CRACK AND BREAK APARTVAT SEVERAL AREAS INCLUDING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LOCATION. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH GM AND THEY ONLY OFFER "GOODWILL" ASSISTANCE FOR CUSTOMERS JUST OUTSIDE THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. REPAIRS COST OVER 1000.00 FOR THIS ISSUE THAT CAN SOMETIMES HAVE TO BE DONE MULTIPLE TIMES. LOOKING TO FINALLY GETTING THIS ADDRESSED AND NOT SWEPT UNDER THE RUG.
THE TRUCK FRAME, BED AND CAB ARE COMPLETELY COVERED WITH RUST. UNCERTAIN HOW LONG THE FRAMED WILL BE SAFE IN ORDER TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SECTIONS OF THE DASH BOARD HAD EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE CRACKS THAT EXTENDED APPROXIMATELY 18 INCHES EACH. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DASH BOARD WAS MADE OF A HARD PLASTIC MATERIAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER GENT CHEVROLET LOCATED AT (2715 35TH AVE, GREELEY CO) WHO INDICATED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
