POWER STEERING LINES TOUCH THE DRIVE TRAIN. I LOST STEERING CONTROL WHILE DRIVING 70 MILES AN HOUR. THE HIGH SIDE PRESSURE LINE BLEW OUT.
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE RIGHT STEERING KNUCKLE ON MY TYPE OF VEHICLE, INCLUDING SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. I DID NOT EVER GET A RECALL NOTICE, BUT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHERE THE RIGHT STEERING KNUCKLE BROKE AND CAUSED SIGNIFICANT OTHER DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, SO I WAS FORCED TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE TO HAVE IT FIXED. I HAD TO PAY A LARGE DEDUCTIBLE AND WAS FAULTED FOR THE ACCIDENT. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THIS SINCE THERE IS A RECALL ON THAT PART OF THE VEHICLE?
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHEELS RANDOMLY LOCKED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR RANDOMLY FLASHED. AS A RESULT, THE POWER STEERING WAS EXTREMELY AFFECTED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AS THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP. IN ADDITION, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE INDICATOR RANDOMLY FLASHED AND THE GEARS INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V352000 (AIR BAGS). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V386000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
THE CLOCK SPRING IS BROKEN. CHRYSLER DOESN'T HAVE THE PART AND CLAIM IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I THINK ANYTHING INVOLVING THE INFLATION OF THE AIRBAG IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

I HAD TO HAVE THE RIGHT TIE ROD REPLACED. CAR VIBRATED AT SPEEDS OF 65 TO 70 MPH. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE PART LOOKED TO BE DEFECTIVE. *TR
ROUNDING CORNER WHEN STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKED UP; NOT ALLOWING ME TO TURN VEHICLE TO MAKE CURVE. RAN THROUGH FIELD INTO ELECTRICAL BOX. ALMOST RAN IN TO HOUSE. FORTUNATELY, MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER IS AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER AND WAS ABLE TO REACT QUICKLY TO ENSURE HIS SAFETY. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT FOR MY 15 YEAR OLD SON TO DRIVE WHEN HE GETS HIS LICENSE. LUCKILY, HE WAS NOT DRIVING THE CAR AS HE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE EXPERIENCE TO HANDLE THIS ACCIDENT WITHOUT FATALLY INJURING HIMSELF AND/OR OTHERS. I FOUND A RECALL NOTICE ON THESE VEHICLES AFTER THE ACCIDENT; WHEN I CALLED I WAS TOLD THAT OUR VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL (ACTUALLY, NO RECALL AT ALL - WHAT?). THE ENGINE SOUNDS LOUD AND WHINY (FAN SOUNDING) AND THE RUNNING BOARD WAS PARTIALLY BROKEN OFF, AS WELL AS A SMALL DENT IN THE PASSENGER DOOR (DRIVER'S SIDE). CHRYSLER IS NOT HELPING AT ALL - REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. WHERE DO I TURN? *TR
POWER STEERING HOSE BLEW OUT! IT IS ROUTED TO CLOSE TO A PULLY. I REPLACED IT WITH A MARINE GRADE HOSE FROM HOME DEPOT JUST TO GET HOME SAFELY. I THEN BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD, "THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THESE CARS ON THE ROAD WITH NO PROBLEM LIKE THIS. BAD LUCK FOR YOU I GUESS" . *TR

AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE BRIEFLY THE STEERING FUNCTION RESET INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE CONTACT, WHO WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER REPAIRED NOR TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN AUGUST 2010. IT IS A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN. I HAD IT JUST A FEW MONTHS AND I WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE STEERING. I AM GOOD DRIVER AND DROVE TO WORK EACH DAY WITHOUT ISSUE. I WENT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED THE TIE ROD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR YEARS AND NOTED HOW ODD IT IS THAT A NEWER VEHICLE WOULD NEED A TIE ROD REPLACEMENT. HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. IT COST OVER $500 TO GET IT REPLACED. HE SAID HAD I DRIVEN IT JUST A FEW MORE DAYS THE WHOLE FRONT WOULD HAVE BROKEN CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I ALSO HAD AN ISSUE IN 2012 WITH A EMISSION SENSOR AND MY GAS TANK.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND NOTICE THAT THE TIE ROD ON THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE HAD CRACKED IN HALF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY HAD THE TIRE ROD IN STOCK AND THE CONTACT PURCHASED IT AND REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60100.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN IN PARSIPANNY, NJ. SHE WAS MERGING FROM 287S ONTO 80W AND TRAVELING ABOUT 35MPH. AS SHE WAS MERGING ONTO 80W THE DRIVER'S SIDE BALL JOINT ON THE STEERING LINKAGE COMPLETELY FAILED RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL. SHE MANAGED TO LIMP CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD AND CALLED MYSELF AND AAA TO HAVE CAR BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR SERVICE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 64K MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED. SHE IS 7 MONTHS PREGNANT AND WE HAVE A 3.5 YEAR OLD SON. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES, TRAFFIC CONDITIONS, AND/OR SPEED WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR DEALERS/MANUFACTURERS RESPONSE AND SOLUTION.. *TR
VEHICLE HAS A VIBRATION IN STEERING MAINLY WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED BY 5 DIFFERENT MECHANICS INCLUDING CHRYSLER. NO ONE CAN FIND IT. I HAVE CHANGES TIRES AND SHOKES THREE TIMES.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT W/ MY 2007 CHYRSLER ASPEN MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND THE CAR PROCEEDED STRAIGHT AND STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLES SIDE. I EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF STEERING DURING A RIGHT HAND TURN. THERE WAS A TRAIL OF POWER STEERING FLUID FROM THE POINT OF STEERING LOSS TO THE POINT OF IMPACT OF OTHER VEHICLE. AFTERWARDS BOTH WHEELS WERE POINTED INWARD AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THERE IS A RECALL ON CERTAIN ASPENS W/ THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT MINE.
