THE TROOPER THEN INFORMED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. ALL OCCUPANTS IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THE STATE TROOPER WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED AT THE SCENE AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME WHERE IT REMAINED IN HIS POSSESSION. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE DEEMED DESTROYED. THE CONTACT THEN CALLED MCINERNEY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF THUNDER BAY(832 W CHISHOLM ST, ALPENA, MI 49707) WHERE THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 03V471000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

GAS GAUGE NEEDLE DROPS TO EMPTY WHEN IT GETS TO THE HALF TANK MARK. I HAVE HAD THE CAR STALL AS IF OUT OF FUEL WHEN IT STILL HAS HALF A TANK OF GAS. I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO ADD FUEL TO THE TANK AND IT IS SLOW GOING, BECAUSE THE NOZZLE CONSTANTLY SHUTS OFF FROM FUEL BUBBLING OUT. IF THE CAR IS PARKED ON A SIDEWAYS SLOPE, THE FUEL NEEDLE WILL GO BACK UP TO THE ACCURATE AMOUNT, BUT ONCE ON FLAT LAND GOES BACK TO EMPTY. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FROM FULL TANK TO LOW FUEL LIGHT WITHOUT REFUELING. SPECS MAY SHOW 14 GAL. TANK, BUT IN TRUTH, ONLY 7 OR SO GAL. IS ALL THAT IT OPERATES ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED IN 2014. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,046.
A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED ON MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AS STATED BELOW. "ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) SOFTWARE MAY ALLOW THE ENGINE TO STALL UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS." THE MANUFACTURE IS STATING THAT BECAUSE OF MY VEHICLE'S VIN# IT WASN'T PART OF THIS RECALL# F44. IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT THE SAME CONDITIONS THAT HAVE HAPPEN TO THE VEHICLES PART OF RECALL# F44 SHOULD PERTAIN TO ANY VEHICLE BUILT PRIOR TO THE DATES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL CHRYSLER IS RECOGNIZING FOR REPAIRS. ALL PACIFICAS SHOULD BE UNDER THE #F44 RECALL NOTICE, NOT JUST A CERTAIN PORTION. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE EXACT SAME ITEMS LISTED AS A NECESSARY REPAIR TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AS LIKE RECALL# F44, I TO HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP MODULES, FOR THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. HOWEVER, THE DIFFERENCE IS IT WAS OUT OF MY OWN POCKET FOR THESE REPAIRS. ALL THIS HAPPENED TO ME TOO..... AND I AGREE WITH THIS PERSON..... SO I AM RE-POSTING IT... THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED TO MESS UP TELLING ME IT WAS EMPTY AND IT WAS NOT. IT WOULD GO ALL OVER THE PLACE FORM 3/4 TO EMPTY.THIS WENT ON FOR TWO DAYS THEN I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT 65MPH AND IT SPUTTERED AND I PULLED OVER AND IT WAS NOT RUNNING AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
HAD CAR REPAIRED CAUSE OF RPM RAISING WITHOUT FOOT BEING ON PETAL. KEEP OIL CHANGE REGULARLY, TUNE UP AND WHEN TOOK CAR TO SHOP THEY REPLACE IDLE SENSOR,MAP SENSOR, SPARKS PLUGS CHANGED AND EVEN 3 BOOT CAUSE OF MISFIRE ... AND STILL SAME PROBLEM. WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE REACHED 1/3 FULL IT DROPPED TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. WE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED TO FILL UP BUT THE TANK ONLY TOOK 11 GALLONS LEAVING US TO BELIEVE THE 23 GALLON TANK WAS ABOUT HALF FULL WHEN THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. I PURCHASED A PRE OWNED 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ON NOVEMBER 23, 2013. ON DECEMBER 5, 2013 I STARTED UP MY CAR AND BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF MY GAS HANDLE STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN REALLY FAST, THE GAS PUMP SYMBOL WAS BLINKING ON AND OFF AND IT WAS CHIMING AS WELL. I HAD A HALF A TANK OF GAS. I SAT THERE AND COUNTED A TOTAL OF 3-4 TIMES OF THIS HANDLE GOING UP AND DOWN. IT ALSO DID IT ON DECEMBER 4, 2013 WHEN I STARTED UP CAR, I HAD WELL OVER A HALF A TANK OF GAS. I HAVE A ONE YEAR WARRANTY SO I GOOGLED THIS AND READ STORIES OF ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND SAW A LINK TO THIS SITE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000. UPDATED 04/30/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL GAUGE WAS ALMOST AT A HALF TANK. SHE THEN HEARD THE GAS LOW WARNING CHIME AND WHEN SHE LOOKED DOWN, THE GAUGE WAS READY EMPTY. THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO STEER THE VEHICLE OFF TO THE SHOULDER WITH GREAT FORCE AND DIFFICULTY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PRIMARY PUMP WAS REPLACED IN DECEMBER AND THE SECONDARY FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED APRIL 6, 2013. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED WHEN SHE PUMP GAS, IT HAD TO BE DONE REALLY SLOW, OTHERWISE, IT WOULD FILL THE PIPE AND SHUT THE PUMP DOWN. IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 5- 10 MINUTES JUST TO PUT 7 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE. UPADTED 05/08/13

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH HAVING BAD MODULES AND NEEDED A NEW FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THE DIAGNOSIS AND ALSO OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V471000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
