WHILE LEAVING A ON RAMP TO US ROUTE 15 S. I ACCELERATED TO WOT(WIDE OPEN THROTTLE) IN ORDER TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. ONCE I REACHED 60 MPH I PUSHED THE SET BUTTON ON THE CRUISE CONTROL AS I LEFT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE INSTEAD OF HOLDING THE 60 MPH SPEED. I SLOWED DOWN BY PUSHING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT ONCE I LEFT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I TRIED THE CANCEL BUTTON FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL AND ALSO THE ON/OFF BUTTON, BUT NOTHING WORKED. MY WIFE REACHED OVER AND PULLED THE FLOOR MAT BACK TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT THE MAT AND IT CONTINUED. I PLACED THE SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL AND THE RPM'S WERE AT 3500. I TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF AND I COASTED. I THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE RPMS IMMEDIATELY WENT TO 3500 AND THEN DROPPED TO 750. I AM AN ASE CERTIFIED MASTER TECHNICIAN AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS IN A VEHICLE. I AM GLAD I WAS DRIVING AND NOT MY WIFE. ONCE I REACHED MY DESTINATION I DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AT THE THROTTLE BODY. SINCE THIS VEHICLE IS A CABLE OPERATED THROTTLE BODY MY ONLY CONCLUSION IS THAT EITHER THE THROTTLE PLATE STUCK, WHICH IT IS CURRENTLY MOVING SMOOTH, OR THE CRUISE CONTROL IS HAVING ISSUES. I AM PLANNING ON TAKING IT TO WORK IN THE MORNING AND TRYING TO DIAGNOSE IT. I HAVE BEEN REPAIRING CARS PROFESSIONALLY SINCE 1992. I PURCHASED MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN OCTOBER OF 2013. I WAS HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH MY CAR MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE WITH ACCELERATION AND I TOOK IT UP TO THE CAR SHOP. (MAY OF 2014) I WAS TOLD THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE RUSTED OUT AND THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED ALMOST THROUGH. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2004 PACIFICAS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD MY CAR IS OUT OF THE RANGE FOR THE RECALL BY 6 MONTHS. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS RECALL OR WOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF IT WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT IT. THE COST TO REPAIR IS ABOUT 3,000.00 AND THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER PACIFICA OWNERS AND WOULD LIKE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS. I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR WHEN IT HAS BEEN KNOW BY CHRYSLER THAT THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE DEFECT IN THEIR PRODUCT. *TR

MY PROBLEM IS THAT MY CAR GAS PEDAL WILL GET STUCK BUT IT'S NOT AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE IT HAPPENS MAYBE ONE TIME A DAY SOMETIMES TWO WITH A WEEK OR LEAST IN BETWEEN THEN SO NO MECHANIC CAN HELP ME AND WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER AND TOLD MY PROBLEM THEY WON'T HELP ME EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE OTHER CARS WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE BUT BECAUSE MY CAR ISN'T THE SAME MODEL OR YEAR THEY WON'T HELP. IM SO FRUSTRATED. WHEN MY CAR IS IN THE PARK MODE AND YOU PUT TO DRIVE OR REVERSE IT GETS STUCK LIKE THERE IS NO ACCELERATION COMING TO IT FOR ABOUT AFTER 5 SECONDS UNTIL YOU KEEP PUSHING ON IT AND THEN WHEN IT FINALLY RELEASES YOUR FOOT IS PUSHING ON THE GAS AND SO OF COURSE YOUR CAR SUDDENLY FLOORS I'M LUCKY I HAVEN'T HIT ANYTHING OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER! THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HAVING THE DEALER DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,336.
AUTO ACCIDENT. 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. A CAR ATTEMPTING TO CUT IN FRONT OF NON-MOVING CHRYSLER PACIFICA FROM RIGHT SIDE, SEVERELY IMPACTED PACIFICA ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF PACIFICA. IT IMMEDIATELY SURGED FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND, DESPITE HAVING BOTH FEET PRESSING ON THE BRAKE, PACIFICA COULD NOT BE STOPPED UNTIL, IN DESPERATION, DRIVER THROUGH THE PACIFICA INTO PARK.
