the cross trafic light warning comes out as not working while i am driving on highway or any other street and the system is actually working
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that back over prevention camera failed to operate as needed with a black image displayed on the screen. The contact called the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The contact was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.
The rear view camera on my Ford Fusion has been not working. A couple months ago it was off and on when it did not work. When it was too hot the camera would not work and have an error that says to go to a dealership. I dealt with it because it was every once in a while, but now it never works. I went to my local mechanic and he did not know what was causing the problem. I saw that multiple Ford cars, including Fusions, are under recall for what appears to be the same issue I am dealing with. I think the recall should be extended to more model years since it seems to me there are more cars with the problem.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the rearview camera image was black or distorted. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V695000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the dealer informed the contact that the repair could not be covered because the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that the rearview camera displayed a distorted image while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the rearview camera displayed a blank screen, or no lines, no color, and glitched while operating. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer was contacted; however, the contact was informed that there was no recall on the VIN for the rearview camera. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.
Rear view (backup) camera only works intermittently. When not functioning, the message "camera not available" appears.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while reversing, the rearview camera activated; however, the rearview camera chime and red line alerting that the vehicle was too close to another vehicle, pedestrian or curb failed to engage. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was unknown.
Since around 2020 / 2021 the vehicle rear-view camera has been malfunctioning. The screen can go blank or show an error message intermittently while in use, often moments after the vehicle starts to move, making continued immediate movement dangerous for the driver or pedistrians. The video feed sometimes works, sometimes shows an error message to contact the dealer. Sometimes the feed flashes back and forth intermittently working and showing a black sreen, every few seconds. Sometimes the video feed is flipped horizontally, showing the usually left side of the video on the right and vice-a-versa. This particular failure caused vertigo and was extremely hard to ignore, making it difficult to continue parking the car. I contacted the dealership and was told an approximate $1300 was required to fix the intermittent camera functioning, when it had worked for 8 years and was still intermittently working - it would seem a software problem introduced by an firmware update, if I was to assess the situation. no police report was filed, confirming. I called my local dealership more recently and asked about fixing it under relation to one of the many Ford truck related backup camera recalls and somehow my camera / car are not part of the recall, so I was instructed to contact the nhtsa to have my complaint added. I suspect because it is a lower volume car, the exact model is liikey not to show many vehciles with this problem. The corporate Ford customer service rep was very nice, but unable to grant permission for my car to be fixed by a dealer at reduced cost. Please add this to the Ford recalls of late or open a new relating recall. Thank you for your time.
THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED W/ FORD'S DRIVER ASSIST PACKAGE WHICH INCLUDES BLIS (BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM). BLIS ONLY WORKS AS DESCRIBED 50% AT BEST AND EVEN THEN IS WHOLLY INADEQUATE AND NO BETTER THAN NOT HAVING. WHEN BLIS DOES WORK, BY THE TIME THE INDICATOR TRIGGERS THE VEHICLE TRIGGERING IT WAS ALREADY IN THE BLIND SPOT. BLIS TYPICALLY DOES NOT INDICATE WHEN A VEHICLE IS IN THE BLIND SPOT AND TENDS TO BE TRIGGERED EVEN WHEN NO VEHICLE IS PRESENT. IF THE VEHICLE IN/APPROACHING THE BLIND SPOT IS MOVING FAST ENOUGH (35+ MPH), BY THE TIME THE INDICATOR COMES ON THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY COME AND GONE; THAT'S IF THE INDICATOR WAS TRIGGERED AT ALL. THE INDICATOR IS ALSO ON THE FAR END OF THE MIRROR AND ONLY A SMALL LITTLE LIGHT WHICH DISTRACTS THE DRIVER DUE TO HAVING TO TURN EYES/HEAD FAR ENOUGH TO THE SIDE TO SEE THE INDICATOR. THE MAIN REASON FOR THE COMPLAINT IS THAT NON-DRIVER ASSIST PACKAGE FORD FUSION MODELS COME STANDARD WITH BLIND SPOT MIRRORS WHICH ALLOWS THE DRIVER TO SEE THE BLIND SPOTS WITHOUT HAVING TO TURN THE HEAD (TURNING THE HEAD WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF AN ACCIDENT) BUT THE DRIVER ASSIST PACKAGE MODELS ONLY HAVE BLIS AND BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THE INDICATOR THE DRIVER CANNOT ADD A THIRD PARTY BLIND SPOT MIRROR TO AUGMENT THE INEFFECTIVE BLIS. BLIS SHOULD BE IN ADDITION TO THE BLIND SPOT MIRRORS, NOT REPLACE THEM WHEN THEY DO NOT MEET THE SAME FUNCTIONS AND DOES NOT WORK AS DESCRIBED (EVEN WHEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE TIMES WHEN FORD SAYS BLIS DOES NOT WORK). THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO FORD'S ATTENTION TO NO AVAIL. THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING THAT I'VE PERSONALLY ALMOST HIT SOMEONE BECAUSE THE INDICATOR WAS NOT TRIGGERED OR WHEN HAVING TO TURN MY HEAD TO DOUBLE CHECK WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, BOTH OF WHICH WERE NOT AN ISSUE WITH MY PREVIOUS NON-DRIVER ASSIST PACKAGE MODEL. *TR
