Driving down the road and the trunk popped open on its own. It has happened multiple times while driving. The trunk will just open up on its own without pushing the button or anything.
Driver side rear door handle broke off!
When I went to unload groceries from my 2014 Ford Fusion SE, the Driver side Rear door did not latch closed. Despite not latching, the warning that the door was open did not come on. I read that there was a recall back in 2020 for a similar issue in states that were subjected to warmer temperatures. I have not yet gotten the issue inspected but will be taking the car to a mechanic. NHTSA is welcome to inspect my car if given enough notice.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and being inspected, the mechanic observed that the sway bar was not properly bolted. The vehicle was diagnosed by a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,129.
The driver's side door stopped latching today. Obviously, driving a car with a door that does not latch is a serious issue!
Trunk opens while vehicle is in motion. Warning light will alert me the trunk is open but it has happened twice over the last week. My knee cannot reach the trunk open button and the key is a fob with a flip out key, so there is no way to have accidently hit the button on the fob while in motion. Nothing in the trunk is high enough to accidently pull the emergency latch.
I RECEIVED A WRITTEN NOTICE FROM FORD CORPORATE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL CONCERNING DOOR LATCH SPRINGS. IT DIRECTED ME TO RECORD THE MODEL NUMBER OF EACH OF THE FOUR DOOR LATCHES. THIS I DID AND WAS FURTHER DIRECTED TO GO ONLINE TO WEB SITE TO RECORD THE NUMBERS. THE WEB SITE DOESN'T EXIST AND WHEN YOU GO THERE YOU GET A FAULT 404. WHEN I THEN CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER,FORD COUNTRY IN HENDERSON, NV THEY MADE ME AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEM TO CHECK THE LATCHES. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE APPOINTED TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT I MUST LEAVE THE VEHICLE OVER NIGHT AS THERE WERE 18 OTHER VEHICLES AHEAD OF ME. WHY WOULD A DEALERSHIP SCHEDULE 19 VEHICLES AT THE SAME TIME FOR A VISUAL INSPECTION WHICH TOOK ME LESS THAN 15 MINUTES TO PERFORM?
I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED UNDER RECALL 20V331 AND THE DEALER SAID THAT "THE RECALL IS FOR DOOR LATCHES THAT ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET". I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS NO TIMELINE FOR WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. THE RECALL SAYS THAT THIS IS TO VERIFY THAT WORK DONE ON 15S16 OR 16S30 WAS DONE CORRECTLY. WHAT IS THE POINT OF A RECALL IF THE COMPANY WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM?

Trunk continues to unlatch and open on its own. It pops open when driving or parked and if vehicle is in motion causing things to fly out of trunk and hit other cars. I have had professionals look at it and it still doesn’t work. The trunk open indicator on the dash always clicks, lights up, and says trunk ajar.

HOWEVER, IN MAY,2020 THE SAME FAILURE HAPPENED IN BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I FIXED IT BUT I WANT A REFUND OF THE EXPENSES I HAD INCURRED. *TR

AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PULL OFF OF THE ROADWAY, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKE TO AN UNKNOWN FORD DEALER, LOCATED IN BRADENTON, FLORIDA, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000.
MY BACK DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH CAME OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. THE DOOR WOULDN'T STAY CLOSED AND HAD TO REPLACE MY DOOR LATCH ACTUATOR.
IN A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR CERTAIN FOR FUSIONS MANUFACTURED FOR 2013 MODEL YEAR TO 31-OCT-2013. WE FIND THAT THE EXACT ISSUE/PROBLEM FOR WHICH THE FUSION WAS RECALLED IS EFFECTING OUR 2014 IN THE SAME EXACT WAY. *DT*JB IN ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE DOOR LATCHES HAVE A PAWL SPRING TAB THAT MAY BREAK. THIS CONDITION WILL TYPICALLY PREVENT THE DOOR FROM LATCHING. IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS WHERE THE DOOR IS ABLE TO BE CLOSED, THE DOOR MAY UNLATCH WHILE DRIVING, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY. WHEN WE CALLED OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WE WERE DIRECTED TO CALL FORDS CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS DEPARTMENT. WE WERE INFORMED OUR VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THAT RECALL AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE IN LUE OF FIXING OUR ISSUE BY REPLACING THE DOORS LATCH. OUR PARTICULAR DOOR EFFECTED IS THE RIGHT, PASSENGER REAR. WE DID HAVE THE ISSUE REPAIRED BY A LICENSED AUTO SHOP. BUT THE FACT THAT THE SAME ISSUE, WHICH HAD A RECALL BY FORD, WAS TURNED DOWN AND NOT EVEN SUGGESTED TO HAVE A DEALERSHIP LOOK AT THE ISSUE AND REPORT BACK TO FORD CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS A COMPLETE INFORMED REPORT TO UNDERSTAND THE ISSUE AT HAND WOULD BE THE LEAST THEY COULD DO WITH REGARDS TO THE CUSTOMERS SAFETY. THE CURRENT RECALL CLEARLY EFFECTS MORE VEHICLES THAN FORD HAS EXPECTED. THIS IS WHY WE ARE REPORTING THIS ISSUE.
THE PASSENGER DOOR WONT LATCH ON. I OPENED IT TO GET OUT AND AS I CLOSED THE DOOR IT STAYED OPEN, I TRIED AGAIN AND IT DID NOT WANT TO WORK, I FIGURED THE LATCH MIGHT OF GONE BAD AND I CHECKED AND SEVERAL FUSION HAD RECALLS FOR THIS BUT MINE DID NOT.
THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS LATCH WILL NOT WORK THE KEEP DOOR CLOSED. I JUST GOT HOME FROM TOWN AND UN BUCKELED MY 4 YR OLD DAUGHTER AND WHEN I WENT TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT WOULDNT STAY SHUT. THE HAPPEND AROUND AROUND 3:50 PM ON 11/07/2019 I WILL BE TAKING IT TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TOMORROW MORNING

10/3/19 MY 17 YEARS OLD DAUGHTER DROVE HER 2014 FORD FUSION HOME TO CHANGE FOR WORK. UPON LEAVING TO DRIVE TO WORK HER DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH TO STAY CLOSED. CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE TOLD THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL. HAD THE DOOR FIXED WITH A RELIABLE MECHANIC, $386.59. PICKED THE CAR UP ON 10/6/19. MY DAUGHTER DROVE TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE, PICKING UP TWO FRIEND'S, ONE RIDING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND THE OTHER IN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE. WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING IN THE RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, STARTLING HER FRIEND. THANKFULLY, THEY HAD NOT GOTTEN TO THE HIGHWAY YET! ANOTHER RETURN TRIP TO THE MECHANIC, $594.66. I AM AWARE OF ISSUES WITH FORD FUSION AND LINCOLN MKZ FROM 2013 TO 2014 AND FORD FIESTA FROM 2011 TO 2014 REGARDING DEFECTIVE LATCHES ALLOWING DOORS TO OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY. IF THIS IS A CONCERN WITH THE NHTSA TO TAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, WHY IS OUR VIN NOT PART OF A RECALL? CLEARLY IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD AND WE SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY THEM. ATTACHED ARE PHOTOS OF THE DEFECTIVE PART MISSING THE PLASTIC PIECE TO HOLD THE BOLT IN PLACE TO SECURE THE DOOR TO BE CLOSED.
