TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH, APPLIED BRAKES FOR UPCOMING STOP SIGN AND BRAKES FAILED. INSPECTION REVEALED THAT BRAKE LINE BROKE AS THE RESULT OF CORROSION TO LINE AT REAR AXLE. MECHANIC STATES ALL BRAKE LINES DEMONSTRATING UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF RUSING, ALL BRAKE LINES REPLACED. MECHANIC STATES FRAME WILL BE RUSTED THROUGH SOON IF NOT BLASTED AND RUSTPROOFED; ALSO STATES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON NEARLY ALL GM TRUCKS HE SEES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH THERE WAS A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DROVE HOME AND NOTICED THAT THE SHOCK MOUNTS THAT WERE ATTACHED TO THE FRAME WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
WE PURCHASED THE 2002 YUKON FROM MCGUIRE DEALERSHIP IN NJ ITS BEEN CARED FOR TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FAITHFULLY DRIVEN BY MY 50 YEAR OLD FATHER, WHEN FIRST DRIVING HE NOTICED THE PEDAL VIBRATING RAPIDLY DURING NORMAL BRAKE APPLICATIONS. THE ABS CONTROL VALVE WAS THE CULPRIT ALONG WITH A RUSTY WHEEL SENSOR. IT WAS REPLACED AT THE DEALER AND AFTER 5 YEARS THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK IS RUSTING AND ROTTING ALONG WITH SUSPENSION PARTS AND MOST OF ALL THE BRAKES. WE CAME CLOSE TO CRASHING ONE DAY WHEN THE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR, WE TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL FIRESTONE AND THEY TELL US ALL THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED OUT ALONG WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER. WE REPLACED THE LINES AND MASTER CYLINDER WITH A HEFTY PRICE TAG. WE GET THE CAR BACK 3 DAYS LATER PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AGAIN, BACK AT THE MECHANIC BOTH REAR CALIPERS ARE RUSTED AND LEAKING. WE REPLACED ALL 4 CALIPERS AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED BUT NOW THE FRAME IS RUSTING AND THE ABS IS STILL VIBRATING BADLY. LONG STORY SHORT GM NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR SELLING SUCH CHEAP CRAPPY TRUCKS, WE CAME CLOSE A FEW TIMES TO CRASHING, AND I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES DUE TO THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE EMPLOYEES OF GM. *TR
2002 GMC YUKON FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TS AFTER THE RECALL FOR THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS COMPLETE THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE LEFT HUB ASSEMBLY DUE TO CORROSION. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE HUB WAS NOT GOING TO BE COVER UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT HAD EXPIRED. *NM
CONSUMER COMPLAINT REGARDING 2002 GMC NOT BEING INCLUDED IN RECALL. THE VEHICLE WOULD SKID AND GRIND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED. *TS THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE SERVICED FOR RECALL 05V379000. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THEREFORE THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT. THE SAME DAY THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THEY REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT UNITIZED BEARING AND FRONT WHEEL DRIVE HUB ASSEMBLY. *NM
ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF THE LOAD LEVELING DEVICE. FUSES CONSISTANTLY FAIL WHEN COMPRESSER ACTIVATES WHEN LOAD IS IN OR ON VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS WITH OR WITHOUT A TRAILER HOOKED UP. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLE SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE IN MID 2002. ATTEMPTED TO BE FIXED THREE TIMES IN THE LASE 30 DAYS. DEALER UNABLE TO ISOLATE THE PROBLEM. INDEPENDANT MECHANIC SAYS DUE TO ELECTRICAL PROBLEM HIGH PROBABLY OF FIRE OR BURN OUT OF WIRING.*AK
KNOCKING NOICE IS HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND IS FELT AS A "CLUNK" THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME IN 6 MONTHS THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 30000 MILES ON IT AND IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND FIXED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 45000 MILES ON IT AND THE PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN.*AK
