HEADIGHTS TURN OFF FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WHILE DRIVING THEN COME ON AGAIN EVENTUALLY. BOTH HEADLAMPS GO OFF TOGETHER. HEADLIGHT SWITCH IN MANUAL ON POSITION, NOT THE AUTO ON/OFF POSITION WHICH I DO NOT USE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HYUNDAI GENESIS COUPE. AFTER BEING PARKED FOR THREE MONTHS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND RODENT EXCREMENT, FOOD PARTICLES, AND NOTICED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS CHEWED THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BOB BAKER HYUNDAI (LOCATED AT 5285 CAR COUNTRY DR, CARLSBAD, CA 92008, (760) 929-4900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MECHANIC FAILED TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIR COST $1,300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE'S WIRING HARNESS WAS SOY-BASED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, IT FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,773.
ENGINE CRANKS NORMALLY ATTEMPTING TO START. WHEN FAILED TO START, THE 'START' BUTTON IS PUSHED TO STOP THE ATTEMPT. TRIED AGAIN. TOOK 3 ATTEMPTS TO FINALLY START. ONCE STARTED THE ENGINE REVS AT HIGH RPM'S. WHEN PUT IN 'D' THE CAR LURCHES AND ACCELERATES WITHOUT PUSHING GAS PEDAL. IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AFTER STARTING AND RESTARTED, FAST ACCELERATION IS ELIMINATED. CAR HAS ULTIMATELY STARTED, BUT THE FEAR IS IT WILL GET WORSE AND ULTIMATELY FAIL TO START STRANDING THE DRIVER. CAR RUNS PERFECTLY IN NORMAL DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS OCCURRED ALMOST DAILY FOR 90 DAYS. HYUNDAI SERVICE: TAKEN TO HYUNDAI ON TWO OCCASIONS. THEY SAY THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM AND NO COMPUTER ERROR CODES GENERATED. STUMPED! CAN DO NOTHING IF PROBLEM CAN'T BE DUPLICATED BY SERVICE TECH! KEEPING QUIET? NEW CONDITION 4/26/18! CAR HAS SHUT DOWN TWICE AT A STOP LIGHT, 4/26 AND 4/29. FEAR OF SHUTTING DOWN WHILE IN TRAFFIC AS REPORTED IN USER FORUMS. HYUNDAI USER FORUMS: DOZENS OF OWNERS DISCLOSE THAT THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD ACROSS YEARS AND MODELS. REPORT THAT HYUNDAI DENIES THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH PROBLEMATIC STARTING AND STALLING AT LOW SPEEDS AND HIGH SPEEDS! OWNERS REPORT FEAR OF SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF THE CAR STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY, ENTERING TRAFFIC OR MAKING TURNS ACROSS TRAFFIC.

HELLO NHTSA ADMINISTRATOR, I BOUGHT A NEW HYUNDAI GENESIS IN MARCH 2010. AROUND AUGUST 2010, I HAD A SMALL FENDER BENDER IN THE PARKING LOT. TO KEEP WARRANTY INTACT ON THE CAR, HYUNDAI INSISTED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS ON THE CAR BE REPLACED, WHICH I DID FOR APPROXIMATELY $5000. SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC ITEMS GO BAD IN THE CAR. I REPLACED SOME OF THESE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. BUT THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE WITH SOME EXPENSIVE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS GOING BAD OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS. IN NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, THESE COMPONENTS SHOULD NOT GO BAD OVER THE LIFE OF THE CAR, AND CERTAINLY NOT AT A FREQUENCY THAT THEY HAVE FAILED IN MY CAR. I BEGAN HAVING THIS ISSUE 10 DAYS AGO WITH MY 2010 GENESIS COUPE. THE CONCERN I HAD WAS NOT ONLY WAS THE INTERIOR FLICKERING BUT IT RESULTED IN MY RUNNING NIGHT BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER I'M AT 62K MILES JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC AND THOUGHT IT WAS A LOSE BRACING FOR THE WIRES. I PICKED IT UP AND THE ISSUE BEGAN AGAIN. I TOOK IT IN 4 DAYS AGO THEY THEN SAID IT WAS A FUSE SWITCH ISSUE AND REPLACED IT BUT THE ISSUE CONTINUED. THEY THEN SAID IT MAY BE A FUSE BOX ISSUE COUPLE OF HUNDRED $$ OR WORST CASE A MAIN ISSUE WITH TOTAL WIRING FROM INTERNAL FUSE BOX AND FUSE BOX IN THE ENGINE AREA WHICH COULD RUN $2K! BUT NO DEFINITE ANSWER TO WHAT WAS CAUSING THIS. THE HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE SAID THEY EVEN HAPPEN TO HAVE A SENIOR ELECTRIC ENGINEER ON LOCATION THAT DAY AND HE COULDN'T PINPOINT EXACTLY THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE 2010 HYUNDAI GENESIS (AND POSSIBLY OTHER YEARS/MODELS HYUNDAI VEHICLES) HAVE VARIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILING TO WORK. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS NOT ONLY TO THE HYUNDAI GENESIS DRIVER, BUT ALSO FOR ANY DRIVER FOLLOWING BEHIND THE CAR. VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE THE STOP LAMPS BLINKING ON AND OFF EVEN WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED." WHY IS THERE NO FACTORY RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM? IT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS WHICH COULD LEAD TO FATALITIES. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY, THE KEY FOB, THE SMART KEY MODULE AND THE IGNITION LOCK MODULE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE REMEDY FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,700.

THIS VEHICLE HAS A FEATURE WHERE THE DOOR MIRRORS ANGLE DOWN WHEN THE CAR GOES INTO REVERSE, AND THEN COMES BACK TO NORMAL VIEWING POSITION WHEN YOU CHANGE TO ANY OTHER GEAR (E.G. PARK, DRIVE). INTERMITTENTLY, ONE MIRROR (DRIVER OR PASSENGER) DOES NOT COME BACK UP. THE DRIVER WILL NOT LIKELY NOTICE THE MIRROR NOT RETURNING TO IT NORMAL VIEWING POSITION UNTIL HE USES THE MIRROR AGAIN, LIKE WHEN HE CHANGES LANES. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPENED ALMOST A DOZEN TIMES TO ME. I HAVE ALMOST SIDE SWIPED OTHER DRIVERS ON THREE OCCASIONS. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP NINE TIMES SO FAR, BUT THEY HAVE NOT FIXED IT. SINCE PURCHASED USED FROM A HYUNDAI DEALER IN 2011 WITH JUST 11,123 MILES & FULL WARRANTY, THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD "INTERMITTENT OPERATION OF THE PUSH-BUTTON START FEATURE, INTERMITTENT ABILITY TO REMOVE THE VEHICLES SHIFTER FROM THE PARK POSITION, ILLUMINATION OF THE ESC'(ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) INDICATOR LAMP IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, INTERMITTENT INTERFERENCE WITH OPERATION OF THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE, OR INTERMITTENT OPERATION OF THE STOP LAMPS" AS CITED IN CAMPAIGN 110 RELEASED BY HYUNDAI ON MARCH 29,2013. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 11 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, FOR THE ABOVE LISTED ISSUE -TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS- AND WHILE BOTH UTILIZED THE HYUNDAI WARRANTY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT, TO REPLACE EVERYTHING FROM MY RADIO, TO TRANSMISSION MODULES, TO WHEEL CYLINDERS, NONE OF THESE ISSUES FIXED THE PROBLEM.WHEN I SPOKE TO HYUNDAI LAST WEEK REGARDING RECALL CAMPAIGN 110, I WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER, BUT I RECEIVED A CALL THE NEXT DAY THAT MY CASE WAS BEING REJECTED BY THE REGIONAL OFFICE.WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL REPAIR THIS WEEKEND, THEY INSISTED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME FOR THE VISIT, DESPITE MY COMPLAINT BEING THE ONE LISTED IN THE RECALL.I FEEL THAT HYUNDAI SHOULD HONOR THEIR RECALL AND ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IN MY CAR AT THEIR EXPENSE UNTIL THEY RECTIFY THE ISSUE CITED IN THE RECALL, DESPITE THE FAULTY PART HAVING BEEN REPLACED THROUGH MY FACTORY WARRANTY MULTIPLE TIMES, AND PRIOR MY RECEIVING NOTICE OF THE RECALL. EVERY TIME A DOOR IS OPENED, OR THE REMOTE IS USED TO LOCK THE DOOR, THE BLUETOOTH GETS CONNECTED; 2. ONCE INSIDE THE CAR, THE BLUETOOTH KEEPS CONNECTED WITHOUT STARTING ENGINE OR TURNING ACCESSORY POWER ON: 3. STEP OUT OF THE CAR, CLOSE THE DOOR, AND WAIT A MINUTE OR SO, THE BLUE TOOTH DISCONNECTS. CELL PHONE BECOMES USELESS IN THESE SITUATION UNLESS I: 1. TURN PHONE'S BLUETOOTH OFF; OR 2. START ENGINE OR TURN ACCESSORY POWER ON TO USE CAR'S SPEAKER AND MIC; OR 3. MOVE AWAY FROM THE CAR, 20' OR SO; OR 4. STEP OUTSIDE, CLOSE DOOR AND WAIT FOR A MINUTE BEFORE USING THE PHONE -- ALL APPEAR SAFETY HAZARD IN AN EMERGENCY. *TR
