Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)THE JEEP PATRIOT HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ABS ECU PROGRAMING. WHEN THE ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAULTS THE ECU DETECTS IT AS A WHEEL SPEED CHANGE. ACTIVATING THE ABS BRAKES. UNLIKE EVERY OTHER CAR WHEN THE SENSOR IS FAULTING IT SHOULD JUST SIMPLY TURN OFF THE ABS SYSTEM AND DISPLAY A FAULT CODE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND ALMOST CAUSED ME AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE BRAKES STARTED ACTIVATING ON THEIR OWN. *TR
LIGHT INDICATOR FOR ANTILOCK BRAKES COMES ON AND AUTOMATICALLY FEELS DIFFERENT WHEN DRIVING. WATER GETS INSIDE THE CAR TRUE THE SUN ROOF WHEN CLOSED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT FWD. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, IT LUNGED FORWARD INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE WHILE THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 11,500.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
