SUNROOF LEAKS DURING/AFTER HEAVY RAIN, PUTTING CAR THROUGH CARWASH. WATER PUDDLES ON FLOOR WELL OF DRIVERS SEAT AND FLOOR WELL OF PASSENGER BEHIND DRIVERS SEAT. ISSUE STARTED IN 2009. LEAKS HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION OR STANDING STILL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND SAW A PIECE OF THE REAR CROSS MEMBER FRAME THAT WAS FRACTURED AND DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CROSS MEMBER FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED CUMBERLAND CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM AT 931-263-0321 (LOCATED AT 1550 INTERSTATE DR, COOKEVILLE, TN 38501) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL, AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
THE JEEP'S ENGINE CRADLE/SUBFRAME IS RUSTED OUT AND HAS HOLES IN IT SO IT CANNOT HOLD MOTOR AND HAS A CRACK THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF FRAME.
MY FRONT AND REAR CROSS MEMBERS ARE CORRODED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO CALL CHRYSLER, WHICH TOOK FOREVER AND A DAY TO GET BACK TO ME (ABOUT 10 DAYS). FOR THEM TO TELL ME IT WAS NOT SOMETHING THEY FEEL IS NECESSARY TO FIX. IF I WANT I COULD HAVE THE DEALER DO IT, AND PAY OUT OF MY POCKET. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE PATRIOTS, AND SOME JEEPS IN GENERAL. THIS IS NOT A FIX I CAN AFFORD, NOT CAN I GET A NEW CAR AT THIS TIME. MECHANICS AT THE DEALER WERE SHOCKED CHRYSLER DID NOT APPROVE THIS, SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

DEALERSHIP SOLD ME AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, IVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 19 DAYS AND MY MECHANIC NOTICED A MAJOR ISSUE. MY CROSS MEMBER IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT.
DISCOVERED THE REAR PORTION OF THE ENGINE CRADLE DISSOLVED BY RUST
MY DAUGHTER'S JEEP HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO THE RUST AND HOLES IN THE JEEP'S CROSSMEMBERS. THE GAVE ME AS REFERENCE X58. SHE NEEDS THEM REPLACED AS THERE ARE LARGE HOLES IN THEM, BUT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HER IF THEY COULDN'T GET IT OFF THEY WOULD HAVE TO CUT OTHER PARTS AND SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE PARTS AND LABOR (APPROXIMATELY $400) WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SAID IS TYPICAL. I'VE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AT JEEP AND THEY SAID SHE WOULD FIRST HAVE TO HAVE THE WORK DONE AND THEN IF THERE WAS A CHARGE THEY WOULD "CONSIDER" HELPING. SO SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR FIRST. THIS HARDLY SEEMS RIGHT. IS THERE ANY RECOURSE?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONTAL UNDER CARRIAGE AND CROSS MEMBER HAD CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH IN SNOWY WEATHER CONDITIONS AND MAKING A TURN, A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE EMITTED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WITH A CONSTANT VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE CROSS-MEMBER FRACTURED DUE TO RUST CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2007 JEEP PATRIOT LIMITED - STREAM OF WATER LEAKING FROM DOME LIGHTS AND MAP LIGHTS, AND ALSO ALONG THE SIDES OF THE HEADLINER IN CAR. WAS ADVISED POSSIBLE KINKED OR CLOGGED DRAINAGE TUBES. CHECKED NO KINK, AND WHEN WATER WAS POURED DOWN DIRECTLY INTO TUBES, IT DRAINED WITH NO CLOGS. WATER RUNNING INTO RADIO/CD PLAYER. ELECTRICAL HAZARD. NO SOLUTION BEING OFFERED BY JEEP! MANY PEOPLE HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL OF ANY SORT. *TR
THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE HAS SOME SERIOUS ISSUES. I'VE HAD SEVERE LEAKS WHEN IT RAINS FROM THE DOME LIGHT. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE THAT IS CAUSED BY BAD DRAIN TUBES AND POOR DESIGN. YET THEY'VE ONLY ISSUED TSB'S AND NOT A FULL RECALL. WATER GETS ALL OVER THE DASHBOARD AND COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE DUE TO SHORTING. *TR
2007 JEEP PATRIOT INTERIOR WATER LEAK FROM MAP LIGHTS AND A POSTS AFTER RAIN OR WASHING. EVIDENTLY A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH JEEP PATRIOT AND OTHER JEEP MODELS. SO FAR, NO RECALL, BUT DEALERS CAN NOT FIX IT. ONCE THERE IS ENOUGH WATER INSIDE ON THE FLOOR BOARDS AND IN HEAD LINER THE MOLD PROBLEMS BEGIN. WHEN MOVING THE WATER COMES THROUGH THE MAP LIGHTS AND A POST LIKE A WATERFALL, SPLASHING ON DASH AND SEATS, ETC. *TR
THE SUNROOF ON THIS VEHICLE IS LEAKING INTO THE INTERIOR THIS CAN CREATE AND ELECTRICAL FIRE DUE TO WATER DRIPPING IN THE MIDDLE CONSOLE AND THE VEHICLE CAN STALL OR CATCH FIRE DUE TO SHORTING. THERE IS A KNOWN TSB POINTING OUT TO A HOLE ON THE VEHICLE BODY YET IT IS ONLY A TSB THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT IS SOMETHING SIMPLE TO FIX. *TR
RAIN WATER LEAKS INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE AND FINDS ITS WAY DOWN TO THE SPARE TIRE WELL WHICH FILLS WITH SEVERAL INCHES OF WATER. MOLD AND MILDEW FORM IN THAT AREA. *TR
WHEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, AT A SLIGHT INCLINE, IN THE RAIN, THE CAR LEAKS RAIN. THE WATER FILLS THE REAR CEILING LAMP AND THEN SPILLS OUT INTO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL OCCURS, THE WELL FOR THE SPARE TIRE HAS FILLED WITH SEVERAL INCHES OF WATER. THIS HAS CREATED A SITUATION FOR MOLD TO GROW, A MILDEWY SMELL, AND I HAVE CONCERN ABOUT THE WATER IN THE LAMP. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP AFTER FIRST OCCURANCE AND WAS "FIXED", BUT DURING THE NEXT STORM, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT'S CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AWAITING REPAIR FOR THE SECOND TIME. I BOUGHT MY 2007 JEEP PATRIOT THE END OF MAY OF 2007 AND IT STARTED LEAKING FROM THE DOME LIGHT THE FIRST RAIN WE HAD...A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT IT. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AT FIRST TO GET IT FIXED SINCE THE LEAKING KEPT RECURRING AND IT WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE TUBING END WAS CRUSHED AND TWISTED WAS THE FIRST DIAGNOSIS. I LOST FAITH IN HAVING THE PROBLEM FIXED. I DEALT WITH THE LEAKING DOME LIGHT BUT NOW OTHER ISSUES HAVE ADDED TO THE DISAPPOINTMENT. WATER NOT ONLY POURS OUT OF THE DOME LIGHT BUT LEAKS INTO SPARE TIRE, CARPET IN BACK SEAT AREA, ON MY SHOULDER FROM PLASTIC BORDER AROUND SUNROOF, AND LITTLE SQUARES OF PLASTIC ON BARS ON BOTH SIDES OF WINDSHIELD. I HAD TO BUY A STEAM CLEANER TO BOTH EXTRACT WATER FROM CARPET/SPARE TIRE SPACE AND ALSO CLEAN THE CARPET. THERE IS SO MUCH LEAKING WATER THAT I HEAR WATER WAVES IN THE BACK AS I DRIVE. I JUST BROUGHT MY JEEP IN THIS WEEK (7/15/13) TO ADDRESS ALL THE LEAKING ISSUES. THEY REPLACED A SEAL AROUND MY 3RD BRAKE LIGHT AND CLEANED MY CARPET. JUST DROVE MY CAR (7/20/13) AFTER A BUNCH OF RAIN LAST NIGHT AND WATER POURED FROM THE DOME LIGHT, DRIPPED ON MY SHOULDER, AND SOME IS IN THE SPARE TIRE AREA. THE CARPET WAS DRY THIS TIME. I WILL HAVE TO BRING MY CAR IN AGAIN NEXT WEEK. I IMAGINE THEY WILL TELL ME I NEED A NEW SUNROOF WHICH I AM NOT CONFIDENT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. THE SUNROOF WAS NEW WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND IT LEAKED SO WHY SHOULD I REPLACE IT ONLY TO PROBABLY HAVE MORE LEAKING AND DEBT. I DON'T HAVE A COVERED AREA TO STORE MY CAR NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO DO SO. I HAVE REPLIED TO JEEP'S REQUEST FOR INPUT ON MY JEEP PATRIOT AND SERVICE VIA SURVEY BUT FEEL LIKE IT IS A WASTE OF MY TIME. I THINK EVERYONE AT THE DEALER IS TRAINED TO RESPOND TO MY DISAPPOINTMENT OF WATER LEAKS WITH A COMMENT SUCH AS, "YEAH, SUNROOFS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR WATER LEAK ISSUES." DRYING UP WATER IS VERY DISTRACTING TO DO WHEN DRIVING. *TR
