This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

Vehicle was purchased and air bag light was on. Dealership did not disclose any safety issues. When brought to my mechanic found broken wiring in airbag harness and driver's side airbag was not functioning and risk of deployment at any time. Also open recall on driver's side airbag
Brakes - sitting at the used car dealership since 8.8.2025. The truck will not stop when the brakes are applied. If the vehicle does not stop when brakes are applied. Lives are at risk if they are hit or ran over. Inspected by a Nissan dealership, invoices are available. The Brake Booster is no longer manufactured by Nissan. No repair is available. Unknown. No accidents have occurred due to this, we are in fear of our safety to drive it. The Sales manager at the dealership disconnected the ABS. We purchased this vehicle on 6.23.2025. The Brakes were not working within driving this vehicle for less than 3 weeks. We have made a formal complaint to the dealership. Taken it to a certified Nissan Dealer. The dealership we purchased this truck from has ignored every request we have made. We hired an attorney here in St. George, UT. The dealership has not replied to our Attorney. This Vehicle is NOT SAFE to be driven on the roads. We would like to know what the safety measures are in place for a USED vehicle dealership to sell an AS-IS-VEHICLE. Please see that I have attached all of our documentation we have provided to the State of Utah, our Attorney and to the Motor Vehicle Division of the State of Utah. A persons safety in their vehicle is a must.

I was driving down a main road by my office, accelerating when the car suddenly stalled. As the truck was independently decelerating, the steering wheel became hard to steer due to the truck being "off". I managed to force it to turn to a shoulder so as to not get rear ended by vehicles behind me. I could've been on the highway with traffic speeds up to 70mph and it would've been a different scenario. I later found out that the 1/4 fuel on the gauge was faulty and I was out of gas. I went to the NHTSA website to find out 2005 model Titans were included in the recall but not my 2004.
When I drive my truck under rain or wet road I have several incidents if my truck tires slip the truck goes out of control if I keep pressing the pedal. Is scary feeling specially because losing control under rain is to unsafe. I know it that on my dashboard the airbags warning is blinking is that has something to do with my incidents ? Can you guys fix this problem thank you. Is raining season and I don't want to suffer injuries or death
Purchased a used 2004 Nissan titan truck with lower miles. Rear axel exploded and burst into flames when driving down the freeway. (Bowling Green, Kentucky) We managed to pull off to the side of the freeway without hitting anyone. Fire dept was able to put the flames out. Didn't find any recalls about the Truck when we bought it. Now I have seen reports on line that this has happened to other consumers. Something needs to be done to warn consumers. We could have died. We could of hit others and killed them as well. Dealership has completed repairs and seen the defect. We have the damaged part. There were no prior warnings. Vehicle was inspected before the road trip to insure it was safe.
My Titan is a 4 door not 2, also I am not sure if these recalls I saw are related to the problems I am having but my light indicator (as in the pictures I provided) has come on twice I immediately turn it off and I wait for the engine to cool it gets really hot but it doesn't indicate any over heating on the dash indicators (it might just be me but it seems hot enough to be overheating) and once cooled i check the fluids and refill the oil as needed (coolant level been fine) but this has happened to me now 2 times in a 3 day period so I believe there is a leak. Also about my shifter I'm not sure if this applies but I have the shifter you can switch to manual (I've never switch to manual bc I don't know how to drive manual) but I have an issue with it just in automatic sometimes when I shift from park to drive it doesn't seem to switch from park to drive and the vehicle stays in the parked position while the shift is in drive and I have to shift back to park wait a second and then shift back into drive a second time before I get the truck into driving mode. I added some pictures of recalls that are for my year make and model truck that seem like the same issues I'm dealing with and wasn't sure if they applied to my vehicle and just got missed with the amount of owners it's had
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly stall with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact performed a diagnostic test and determined that the engine control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V517000 (Engine). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 255,000.
WHILE DRIVING FOR 20 MINUTES AND I'D SAY 25 MILES PER HOUR, MY TRUCK JUST STALLS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WORKING, BUT NO ENGINE POWER! THE TRUCK JUST STOP RUNNING. IN MY ATTEMPT TO RESTART THE ENGINE THE STARTER WILL TURN BUT NO START. I AM NOW STRANDED IN TRAFFIC AND IF IT WAS NOT FOR GOOD SAMARITANS WHO HELP ME PUSH THE TRUCK TO THE CURB. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. I'VE REPLACED MY BATTERY AND IT DIED FOR SECOND TIME! THANKFULLY I WAS ON THE CITY STREET BOTH TIMES. BOTH TIMES I WAITED AWHILE TRIED TO START UP WITH NO SUCCESS, BUT IT STARTED ONLY AFTERWARDS GETTING A JUMP START!? THE BATTERY IS BRAND NEW AND THE HOPE OF FINDING THE ANSWER IS WEBSITES AT LEASE IN THE HOPES OF SOME ANSWER AND DIRECTIONS. EVE SINCE REPLACED THE BATTERY I'
THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY AIRBAG/SEATBELT AND IT SINCE HAS GONE OUT AFTER BEING FIXED, BUT THEY SAID THAT IT WAS PAST THE WARRANTY. I HAD THOUGHT THAT AIRBAGS ARE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE PARTS.
THE VEHICLE BRAKES FREQUENTLY GO OUT AND START TO SHAKE AND MAKE A SPRINGY NOISE WHEN YOU PUSH DOWN ON THEM AND THE BRAKES LOSE POWER AND CANNOT BE APPLIED SAFELY. THIS MAY LEAD TO A CRASH AND NISSAN CANNOT DIAGNOSE THIS WITH CERTAINTY SO INTERVENTION FROM NHTSA IS NEEDED. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THERE IS A POSSIBLE FAULTY DELTA COMPUTER SENSOR AND/OR BRAKE BOOSTER THAT NISSAN CANNOT PROBLEM SOLVE VERY WELL. THIS PROBLEM COULD OR HAS LED TO CRASHES WHEN YOU CANNOT APPLY THE BRAKES AT SPEED. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. PLEASE PUT OUT A RECALL FOR THIS SO THAT WAY THERE ARE NO CRASHES THAT CAN INJURY MY FAMILY OR OTHERS.
SAME TIMES LOSING BRAKES BRAKE PEDAL VERY SPONGE SOFT AND HARDLY NO BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR AND THE SAME TIME MAKES FUN NOISE AND BRAKE LIGHT GO ON .WHEN THIS HAPPENS SUN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP I TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND I START IGNITION AGAIN AND IT GET BACK TO NORMAL I BEN HAVE THIS PROBLEM FOR A LIST 12 YEARS I THINK THIS HAPPENS A LIST ONCE A MONTH.
