I JUST BOUGHT A USED 2 DOOR GRAND PRIX GTP (2000) AND NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK AND THE HAZARD SWITCH IS JAMMED. I SEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND SAW THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. I THINK WAY MORE PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO REPORT IT TO. *TR
STOPPED BY POLICE FOR NO BRAKE LIGHTS. INVESTIGATION REVEALED A PROBLEM IN THE HAZARD PORTION OF THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH. WAS ABLE TO GET THE HAZARDS WORKING, BUT SWITCH WILL NEED REPLACEMENT SOON. THIS IS SAME AS NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE07001. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 GRAND PRIX GT WITH 63000 MILES. ABOUT A WEEK AGO I WAS TRAVELING TO WORK ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN I HAD A VEHICLE COME WITHIN INCHES OF MY BUMPER. I CONTINUED ON TO MY JOB AND THE DRIVER PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT NEXT TO ME. I WAS THEN NOTIFIED I HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS. SINCE THIS TIME MY HUSBAND HAS TRIED TO REPLACE BOTH BULBS, THE FUSE THE STOP LAMP SWITCH AND CHECKED WIRING FOR ANY ISSUES. NONE OF THESE HAVE SOLVED THE ISSUE. LOOKING THROUGH THE NET I HAVE SEEN 100'S OF COMPLAINTS FROM PONTIAC OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND I HAVE TO WONDER WHY PONTIAC HAS NOT LIVED UP TO THEIR END OF THE BARGAIN AND DONE A RECALL ON THIS. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET SHE DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION ABOUT THE MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED FOR THE 2000 - 2002 GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT'S BRAKE LIGHTS AND HAZARD LIGHTS WERENOT WORKING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126000. UPDATED 03/19/07. *JB
DUE TO THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH I DO NOT HAVE HAZARD OR BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2000 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX I DO KNOW THERE IS A INVESTIGATION ON IT NOW AND I KNOW MANY OTHERS IN MY AREA WHO I HAVE TALKED TO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS NOT CHEAP TO FIX AND I'M UNABLE TO GET IF FIXED AT THE MOMENT SO I USE SOMEONE ELSE'S CAR WHEN I GO. THIS MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH HAS MY BRAKES AS WELL AS MY HAZARD WARNING LIGHT NOT WORKING. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2000 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX AND MY TAILLIGHTS WERE BOTH NON OPERATIVE, WHICH RESULTED IN A NEAR MISS REAR END COLLISION. I LEARNED THAT THE CAUSE OF THIS MALFUNCTION WAS DUE TO A HAZARD SWITCH THAT WAS STUCK THAT TAKES OUT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN THIS SWITCH MALFUNCTIONS. I HAD NO IDEA MY LIGHTS WERE OUT AND TRAVEL EVERY WEEK END ON THE INTERSTATE. MY VEHICLE WAS LITERALLY AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I WAS ONE OF THE FORTUNATE ONES THAT FOUND OUT BEFORE DISASTER STRUCK. *JB
LOSS OF THE LOWER BRAKE LAMPS-VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 58000 MILES-HAZARD /TURN SIGNAL SWITCH HAS FAILED-WORK THE HAZARD SWITCH AND THE BRAKE LAMPS START WORKING-BUT SOON QUITS WORKING AGAIN
POOR LIGHT OUTPUT OF HEADLAMPS DUE TO FOGGING AND OR DETERIATION OF LENS ON LOW/HIGH BEAM ASSEMBLY. HEADLAMPS TURN OFF WHEN HVAC FAN SWITCH IS IN ANY POSITION EXCEPT THE 'OFF" POSITION.
THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO COME ON WHEN NEEDED AUTOMATICALLY, LIKE THEY WERE PROGRAMMED TO DO. *AK
NOTIFIED BY ANOTHER DRIVER THAT 2000 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. UPON INVESTIGATION, BULBS AND FUSES WERE OK. ALSO, NOTICED THAT THE HAZARD BUTTON DID NOT ENGAGE HAZARD LIGHTS. HAD NO BACK TAIL LIGHTS WHEN BRAKING. MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH FAILURE.*AK

GLUE ON HEADLIGHT LENS BECOMES WORN WHICH RESULTS IN LENS COVER FALLING OFF, EXPOSING BULBS. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
