Stepped on brake to disengage cruise control. The car accelerated instead of slowing, I turned off cruise and kept stepping on the brake the car kept accelerating. I had to shift to neutral stop the car and shut engine off. When I restarted it was disengaged. This has happened twice now.
UPON SLOWLY PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP WHEN THE RPMs SUDDENLY WENT UP AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD STRIKING THE STONE WALL IN FRONT OF ME. THE IMPACT CAUSED BOTH MY KNEES TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE STEERING COLUMN. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE ONSTAR DID NOT ACTIVATE ALTHOUGH THE IMPACT WAS SUBSTANTIAL. I EXPLAINED THIS BOTH TO THE DEALER AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY. I WAS TOLD A GM ENGINEER WOULD NEED TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS ONLINE.
Since I acquired the vehicle at around 100k miles, there is a transmission shift wobble at 30mph, 40mph, 45mph, 60mph and 65mph. I drove a manual transmission for over 10yrs prior to this vehicle and when this transmission wobble happens, I just reved a bit and let the gas go so it shifts better into the next gear. I just got used to it, my worry began when the wobble would happen while on cruise control. No check engine light comes on, there’s no computer codes registering, it just shakes and wobbles like the tranny is gna give out around those speeds.
THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES THE LATEST INCIDENT HAPPENED TODAY. WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR WILL START REVVING UP SUDDENLY AND WILL LURCH FORWARD. IT TAKES ALL OF MY WEIGHT ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING. I HAVE ALMOST HIT A COUPLE OF CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND TODAY IT ALMOST TOOK ME OFF THE SIDE OF A ROAD WITH A STEEP EMBANKMENT. IT IS INCREASING IN FREQUENCY. IF IT KEEPS HAPPENING, AT THE VERY LEAST I AM GOING TO HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE AND AT THE WORST I, MY FAMILY, OR AN OTHER INDIVIDUAL WILL GET HURT. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH. WHILE DRIVING ALL OF A SUDDEN MY DASH STARTS FLASHING TRACTION CONTROL OFF & THEN FLASHES SERVICE STABILITYTRAC & MY ENGINE LOSES POWER AND STARTS JERKING KIND OF LIKE YOUR ARE RUNNING OUT OF GAS. THIS LASTS UNTIL YOU STOP AND TURN OFF THE CAR FOR ABOUT 5 MIN THEN RESTART IT. BUT IT KEEPS HAPPENING WHEN I GET BACK ON THE INTERSTATE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR INTO MY GARAGE IT JUST STARTED TO SPEED UP, I APPLIED THE BRAKES. BUT IT DID NOT STOP AND HIT THE WALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. AFTER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT JAMMED WHILE BEING OPERATED AT 20 MPH. THE CONTACT ALTERNATED BETWEEN DEPRESSING THE FLOORMAT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. PRIDE CHEVROLET (715 LYNNWAY, LYNN, MA) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 83744340968. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000.
