There are 19 owner-reported fuel system complaints for the 2017 Chrysler Pacificain NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
The fuel cap snapped off. While trying to avoid a $1000 plus garage bill I was researching on how we could possibly fix this at home. While doing the research I’ve found hundreds if not thousands of people on Chrysler forums stating they’ve had the same issue and almost all breaks are identical. I/we that have these issues and them being so common including identical breakage find that it should be Chryslers problem to fix as they clearly used faulty products that now cause major emissions issues and fueling issues. Gas spills out everywhere as the pumps register the tank as full so it either stops the pump or it spews gas out not allowing the gas to go into the tank. I’d like this to be looked into as a bigger recall since it’s very obviously a huge issue in many Pacificas across the nation.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, there was an abnormal odor coming from the engine compartment. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a leak in the fuel rail and the fuel rail needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,200.
Due to faulty plastic fuel neck hose . When pumping gas the gas tank piece broke off .which now I have hard time putting gas in , I can never get it filled up with gas because it keeps stopping as if it’s full , which in this case it’s not . And I have to hold the piece to get fuel in . This can be dangerous it could cause over fill gas to flow over or even on one’s skin or instance catch on fire . This part needs to be stronger as in metal not plastic fuel neck. Also without warning no lamp lights showed up .
While driving my vehicle, it suddenly stalled and told me to put it in park. I was driving approximately 25 miles per hour. I had to pull over and put it in park. It then allowed me to restart. There were no warning lamps and happened spontaneously. I have not had the issue reproduced but this wad part of a recall for this vehicle in 2018 that seems to have returned.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred on two occasions. The contact stated that on the third occasion, a message to park and to restart the vehicle was displayed; however, the vehicle failed to restart at first attempt. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to the fuel pump. The vehicle was not repaired. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to CarMax where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the oil needed to be changed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was determined that either the fuel filler, filler neck, or filler tube failed and could not be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,054.
Top portion of fuel filler neck broke off vehicle during normal refueling process. Top of capless system fractured from filler neck and came off with gas pump nozzle as it was removed from vehicle. Capless fuel system no longer has a seal mechanism to contain fuel vapors. Fuel vapors will potentially leak from vehicle during normal driving as well as parked conditions. This leakage will worsen as weather begins to warm up. Potential to trigger OBDII malfunction when vehicle runs diagnostics for leakage.
we smelled gas on the passenger side and noticed there wasn't a ton of power being given to the engine. Once we got to our destination the gas smell was stronger. We arrived back at our house and the gas smell was really bad at this point and noticed there was gas coming over the headlights. We popped the hood and there was gas everywhere. We got very lucky and the van did not catch on fire. The fuel supply tube (68210442AA) was shooting gas out from a hole in it and it would land a good 20-ft outside the vehicle. This could have killed myself and my family. We went to find the part and come to find out chrysler "redesigned" the part but there is no recall on this part yet.
FUEL PUMP NOZZLES DON'T WORK WITH PACIFICA AND AUTO SHUT OFF EVERY SECOND. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH DESIGN WHERE NOZZLE SENSES FUEL AND SHUTS OFF. THIS IS NOT ONLY SUPER ANNOYING BUT A SAFETY HAZARD. SINCE THE FUEL PUMP AUTO SHUTS OFF EVERY TWO SECONDS, I HAVE TO KEEP PRESSING IT AND DON'T KNOW WHEN IT IS FALSE AND WHEN IT IS REALLY A FULL TANK. THIS RESULTS IN OVERFLOW (TOP OFF EFFECT) WHICH IS HAZARDOUS!!! THIS IS NOT ISOLATED.... 4 OUT OF 5 PUMPS DO THIS! PLEASE HELP AS I KNOW OTHERS HAVE SAME ISSUE FROM THE ONLINE FORUMS. I CAN PROVIDE VIDEO OF THIS.
FUEL LEAK.. WITH GASOLINE ODOR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH CANNER CODE P0456, WHEN I START UP THE CAR.
The vehicle had a recall a few years ago to install updates on the PCM computer for a stalling issue but it was never corrected. The vehicle still stalls on turns and on the highway and inside the Chrysler Dealership but the dealer was not able to identify the issue. It seems that the computer tries to correct the issue but it does not work. This is very dangerous when the vehicle stalls on the highway and the car does not start. Eventually it does start after the vehicle stops but my family and I are risking our lives when we drive the vehicle. In addition when going up a steep roadway, the vehicle is not able to drive up the hill easily and I have to pull over, the vehicle computer seems to make adjustments which take 30-60 seconds and then the vehicle is able to drive up the hill. Please contact me to look at the vehicle and identify the issue with it stalling. Thank you.
FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDS REPLACING. CAR HAS 36,648 MILES
THE VEHICLE'S STOP/START SYSTEM SHUT DOWN THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE THE CAR WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A LEFT TURN AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT WAS FIXED, THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER IT WAS UNDER A SEPARATE RECALL. RECENTLY THE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN AND AGAIN DOES NOT WORK.
LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED, 60-70 MPH. THIS PROBLEM WAS SAID TO BE ADDRESSED IN A JANUARY 2018. ON NOVEMBER 9,2018 WHILE ON I75 NORTH BOUND LANE IN TOLEDO, OHIO, BY EXIT 200, IN THE LEFT HAND LANE AT ABOUT 1:00 PM, THE PACIFICA LOST ALL .POWER. WHEN I WENT TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF A WARNING CAME ON SAYING "CAR MUST BE IN PARK TO STOP. I THEN PUT THE SHIFT NOB TO DRIVE, THE CAR THEN TRIED TO BACKUP. I THEN PUT THE INDICATOR BACK TO PARK AND THIS TIME THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. WITH ROAD RANGERS ASSISTANCE, I THEN WENT TO THE NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALER. THEY THEN CHECKED EVERYTHING OUT WITH THEIR COMPUTER. IT SHOWED PREVIOUS GLITCHES, BUT EVERYTHING WAS WORKING AS NORMAL. I THEN PROCEEDED ON MY JOURNEY. I CALLED CHRYSLER CAR AND DOCUMENTED THE PROBLEM.
DRIVING AT 70 MPH, MY PACIFICA JUST SHUT OFF. HAD NO CONTROL, HAD NOTHING. MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN CALLED INTO THE BEAVER COUNTY CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD, "WE JUST SELL THEM, WE DON'T MAKE THEM." HIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN ONE ISSUE AFTER ANOTHER. THE SLIDING DOORS NOT CLOSING, THE DVD PLAYER NOT WORKING, THE RADIO NOT WORKING, THE SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE STILL NOT WORKING AND THEY HAD TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE GAS TANK BECAUSE I COULDN'T EVEN PUT GAS IN THE TANK IT WOULD SHUT OFF AND WOULDN'T LET GAS GET INTO THE TANK. NOW THIS. WE WERE SCARED FOR OUR LIVES AND THEN TOLD, "WE JUST SELL THEM WE DON'T BUILD THEM." THIS IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE. ...*BF *TR *TT CONSUMER STATED PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. UPDATED 12/19/18*JB
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND WHEN A SERVICE TECH CHECKS IT, IT IS SAYING THAT THE PRESSURE IS OFF IN REGARDS TO THE GAS TANK CAP. THEY RESET IT AND IT COMES BACK ON 2 WEEKS LATER. THEY TOLD ME NEVER TO TURN THE CAR ON WHILE FUELING, WHICH I HAVE NEVER DONE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART OR SOFTWARE AND THEY NEED A FIX FOR IT.
UNABLE TO GAS UP THE VEHICLE PUMP KEEPS CUTTING OFF. VEHICLE WILL NOT TAKE THE FUEL EVERY TIME I TRY TO GAS UP
SINCE 11/2017, HAVE HAD ONGOING ISSUE WITH SENSATION OF A VERY HARD SHIFT OCCURRING WHEN ACCELERATING ESPECIALLY IF I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC FOR SOME TIME. THIS HAS BEEN ON BOTH HIGHWAYS AND ON LOCAL STREETS. SENSATION IS SO HARD, IT FEELS LIKE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REAR ENDED. THIS HAS OCCURRED BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER RECALL WORK WAS DONE. HAVE REQUESTED EVALUATION TWICE AT DEALER AND EACH TIME NOTHING ABLE TO BE FOUND AS CAUSE. THE EVENT DOES NOT OCCUR ALL OF THE TIME SO SERVICE TECHS MOST LIKELY DID NOT EXPERIENCE IT. STARTING THE WEEK OF 4/30, VAN HAS STARTED TO BE SLOW IN ACCELERATION WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM RED LIGHTS, INTERSECTIONS AND MERGING ONTO HIGHWAYS. FEEL VAN IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ALSO HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND FOUND TO BE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. WHEN FIRST REPLACED AT DEALER, FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR WORKED FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN VAN WOULD NOT START AND APPROX. 1/4 TANK OF GAS LOST ON PARKING LOT SURFACE. REQUIRED TOWING AND WHEN CHECKED O-RING HAD CRIMPED AND BURST ON NEW SENSOR. *TT *TR
WHEN TRYING TO FILL MY GAS TANK THE PUMP KEEPS SHUTTING OFF. IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO FILL MY TANK OR TO KNOW WHEN IT IS TRULY FULL. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VENTING AND THAT I NEED TO TURN THE FUEL NOZZEL 90 DEGREES WHEN PUMPING FUEL. THIS WORKS SOMETIMES BUT I DONXT FIND IT ACCEPTABLE. I SHOULDN'T HAVE PROBLEMS FILLING MY GAS TANK.
