While traveling westbound on I-64 at highway speed (~65 MPH), I experienced a complete tire failure of the driver's side front fire. It was first experienced as severe front-end vibration that made control of the vehicle difficult; there were no warnings or other indications of imminent failure. Fortunately, I was able to get the vehicle to the roadway's shoulder without injury or accident. Upon exiting the vehicle, I noticed that the left front tire was flat, and a portion of the tire's tread was protruding above the surface of the tire. Because of vehicle's location/proximity to the interstate, both vehicle occupants were at risk of serious injury if a crash were to occur; the vehicle was also a hazard to passing traffic. Minimizing some risks, we were assisted on scene by the Virginia State Police as well as a VDOT Motorist Assist vehicle until the vehicle was able to be towed away. During a routine tire rotation, the service technician advised me that the brake calipers appeared to be swelling when heating up and were cutting grooves into the wheels. He proceeded to show me the damage and indicated that this could result in a catastrophic event if not corrected. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealership and informed them of the issue. It was looked at and agreed that was the problem. I was advised to contact the manufacturer to start a claim. So far, that is of no benefit. They are basically telling me that until a catastrophic event occurs, there is nothing they will do. I am still trying to get them to cover it. These are all factory parts and I am the sole owner of the vehicle.
The Hydraulic Control Unit and the Anti-lock brake module on my 2017 Ram 2500 Diesel truck is going out. It has 84,000 miles on this truck. This is very costly to repair and Ram knows it is a problem! It is also very dangerous for the brakes to be an issue on any vehicle, but especially on one that has a heavy front end as diesel trucks do. The braking system must be reliable to stop the truck itself. This truck was built and designed to pull trailers and as a work truck. It is very dangerous to consider that these 2 components are not working when pulling a loaded trailer which depends on the braking system as well to stop the vehicle. I am also enclosing several websites to show you that Ram knows there is a problem but hasn't issued a recall on the problem. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM REQUIRES I HAVE 60 PSI IN THE FRONT TIRES AND 80 PSI IN THE REAR TIRES. UNLESS I HAVE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT LOADED IN THE PICKUP BOX, THE REAR TIRES ARE OVER-INFLATED AT 80 PSI. THIS OVER-INFLATED CONDITION CAUSES A RAPID WEARING OF THE REAR TIRES. MY REAL CONCERN THOUGH, IS THAT THE OVER-INFLATED CONDITION CAUSE THE TIRES TO LOSE TRACTION UNEXPECTEDLY DURING WET OR ICY CONDITIONS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE HAS BECOME 'SQUIRRELLY' WHILE I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. MY DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THE PRESSURE IS SET AT THE FACTORY AND CAN NOT BE CHANGED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT REMOVING THE PRESSURE SENSORS WOULD CAUSE MY DASH GAUGES TO INDICATE I HAD NO PRESSURE IN THE TIRES. THIS OVER-INFLATED TIRE PRESSURE SITUATION IS CAUSING A VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITION, NOT ONLY TO MYSELF BUT TO OTHERS AS WELL. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THIS IS A ONGOING SITUATION BUT IS ESPECIALLY HAZARDOUS DURING WINTER MONTHS.
CRACKING IN SIDEWALL OF 2 TIRES. ONE WAS NOTICED WITH 12000 MILES, CONTACTED MANUFACTURER AND WAS PRORATED TO 50% AND REPLACED. NOW TIRE NUMBER 2 HAS A CRACK WITH 16400 MILES
2017 RAM 2500 DIESEL WITH FIRESTONE TRANSFORCE AT TIRES. TIRES HAVE APPROXIMATELY 27000 MILES ON THEM AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. OVERALL I AM VERY PLEASED WITH TRUCK BUT VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT RAM PUTS TIRES ON A 54000 DOLLAR TRUCK THAT ONLY LASTS 27000 MILES. TIRES ARE BIG EXPENSE (1000 DOLLARS). I'M SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER WITH THIS ISSUE. PLEASE RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHNSON DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (481 US-46, BUDD LAKE, NJ 07828, (908) 850-8700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED NEW TIRES. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY DID NOT IDLE AND THE RPMS RACED UP AND DOWN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIBRATION WAS BECOMING WORSE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED NEW TIRES, BUT THE VIBRATION FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TIRE SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS WOBBLING AND ALL FOUR RIMS WERE BENT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SOME OF THE TIRES WERE REBALANCED, BUT NOT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE DUE TO THE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE TIRE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES COULD BLOW OUT AT ANY TIME. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SAN ANTONIO DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (11910 INTERSTATE 35 FRONTAGE RD, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78233, (210) 702-2220) AND THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY INSPECTED THE TIRES AND FOUND THAT THEY WERE OVER PRESSURIZED. THE DEALER ROTATED THE TIRES. AFTER A ROAD TRIP WHERE THE VEHICLE HAULED A 7,000 LB RV, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THE TIRES IN POOR CONDITION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO INSPECT THE TIRES UPON THE CONTACT'S RETURN. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE TIRES AND FOUND NO FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
Since I have purchased the truck over 8 wheel studs have broken off. Most broken off at different tire shops while removing the bolt. Others have fallen off while driving. This is supper unsafe and need to be a recall due to safety.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (ROCKY MOUNT CHRYSLER IN ROCKY MOUNT, NC) WHO INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THE TPMS WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800.

WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A SET OF RAILROAD TRACKS AND THE VEHICLE FISHTAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IT OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE DEFLATED TO 63 PSI, WHICH PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM FISHTAILING WHEN TRAVELING OVER ROUGH TERRAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DEFLATING THE TIRE PRODUCED A FAULT CODE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE MANUFACTURER REQUIRED THE OVER INFLATION OF THE TIRE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE DRIVER'S DOOR DECAL STATED THAT THE TIRE MAX TIRE PRESSURE WAS 60. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,700.
PURCHASED 2017 MODEL RAM 4WDTRUCK ON 20 JAN 17. ON 21 JAN 17 NOTICED GREASE STREAM MARKS ON RIGHT FRONT TIRE. DROVE ANOTHER 420 MILES ON HIGHWAY. NOTICED HEAVIER GREASE STREAM MARKS ON SAME TIRE, WITH SPRAY-ON TO THE FRONT RIGHT REAR INNER FENDER. DROVE ANOTHER 420 HIGHWAY MILES. UPON INSPECTION OF THE BACKSIDE OF SAID TIRE I NOTICED BLACK GREASE LEAKING FROM THE INNER HUB. ON 06 FEB 17 DEALER INSPECTED SAID HUB. FIRST TOLD ME " YOU PICKED UP SOME DIRT FROM THE ROAD"? THEN TO MY SURPRISE, DEALER'S CHIEF MECHANIC SAID THAT NOT ONLY THE FRONT RIGHT BEARING IS LEAKING, BUT ALSO THE FRONT LEFT BEARING IS LEAKING. SERVICE MANGER FIRST TOLD ME "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO" UPON THREATENING WITH LEGAL ACTION, DEALER EVENTUALLY ORDERED PARTS TO FIX PROBLEM.
