Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.
Remedy Status
SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

THE TPMS ON SOME VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY CALIBRATED AND AS A RESULT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LAMP MAY NOT ILLUMINATE SHOULD THE INFLATION PRESSURE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE VEHICLE'S TIRES FALL BELOW THE THRESHOLD FOR WHEN THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LAMP SHOULD ILLUMINATE.
Remedy Status
DEALERS WILL RECALIBRATE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REGULATION FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN DURING JULY 2011. TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008 THROUGH 2011 FJ CRUISER, LAND CRUISER, TACOMA, SEQUOIA AND TUNDRA VEHICLES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 138, "TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS)." WHEN FACTORY-INSTALLED WHEELS AND TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH TOYOTA AUTHORIZED ACCESSORY WHEELS AND LT TIRES PRIOR TO FIRST SALE, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS WERE NOT RE-CALIBRATED CORRECTLY AND THEREFORE DO NOT START ILLUMINATING THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING TELLTALE AT THE REQUIRED MINIMUM ACTIVATION PRESSURE.
Remedy Status
FOR THE LAND CRUISER, SEQUOIA, TACOMA AND TUNDRA VEHICLES, THE DEALER WILL RE-CALIBRATE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM ON AFFECTED VEHICLES AND INSTALL AN UPDATED TIRE AND LOADING INFORMATION LABEL AT NO CHARGE. FOR THE FJ CRUISER VEHICLES, THE TPMS CANNOT BE RESET SO THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) FOR THE TPMS WILL BE REPLACED. TOYOTA IS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING THE REMEDY ECU. IF AN OWNER IS NOT CERTAIN WHETHER HIS OR HER VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THESE ACCESSORIES, PLEASE CONTACT ANY TOYOTA DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION AT NO CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 31, 2011. TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT.
Remedy Status
TOYOTA FILED AN AMENDED DEFECT REPORT ON NOVEMBER 25, 2009, STATING THAT DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND, ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, ALTER THE SHAPE OF THE FLOOR SURFACE UNDER THE PEDAL. THESE CHANGES ADDRESS THE RISK OF PEDAL ENTRAPMENT DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE FLOOR MAT. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. ADDITIONALLY, SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INSTALLED ON CAMRY, AVALON AND LEXUS ES 350, IS 350 AND IS 250 MODELS THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE OVERRIDES THE ACCELERATOR IN THE EVENT BOTH BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS ARE APPLIED. DUE TO THE MANNER IN WHICH THE FRICTION LEVER INTERACTS WITH THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSIDE THE PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY, THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE LEVER MAY BECOME SMOOTH DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. IN THIS CONDITION, IF CONDENSATION OCCURS ON THE SURFACE, AS MAY OCCUR FROM HEATER OPERATION (WITHOUT A/C) WHEN THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IS COLD, THE FRICTION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS OPERATED MAY INCREASE, WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMING HARDER TO DEPRESS, SLOWER TO RETURN, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION.
Remedy Status
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A REINFORCEMENT BAR IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHICH WILL ALLOW THE PEDAL TO OPERATE SMOOTHLY. GM WILL NOTIFY OWNERS FOR THE PONTIAC VIBE PLEASE SEE 10V-018. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain JTEKT power steering gear assembly service parts for 2007-2021 Tundra and 2008-2022 Sequoia, part numbers 44250-0C160, 44250-0C131, 44250-0C170, and 11250-0C121. The power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can result in an oil leak.
Remedy Status
Dealers will inspect and replace the power steering gear assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 17, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 21TH01.

Toyota Motor Company (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.
Remedy Status
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is C0M.

Frame perforation , front passenger side , bottom part of frame in critical point where weld is , in close distance from rack and pinion . At the dealer while servicing have asked to check the frame as there ben lots of concern from Tundra owners. I'm aware that early models have had frames replaced , perforation was found 7'' long by 3'' wide , vehicle was deemed NOT SAFE TO OPERATE . There is no action from Toyota on 2009's . Have called the Toyota brand rep to confirm and found that there is no action taken at this moment .There was no warning signs on dash as this is not part to be electronically monitored .This vehicle is well maintained and in its prime shape .Regularly washed with frame/chassis inhibitors (RASTEX) .Has only 146 K , for this model considering not broken in yet . I'm its original owner. Just spend a significant amount of $$$ on service and additional equipment, was looking for another 5 years +++ of use . Just purchased RAV 4 and COROLLA S hatchback for family members .TOYOTA is not offering to help at no coast . I know that if my track will reach 15 year mark there will be nothing to be concerned by Toyota .Fix is estimated parts and labor over $10 K , I do not have this kind of money at this time as just purchased 2 BN Toyota's . Please help !!!!! , thank You
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, the tailgate door failed to open. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the tailgate latch to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,889.
MY 2009 TOYOTA TUNDRA FREQUENTLY STALLS AFTER SLOWING FROM HIGH WAY SPEED FOR A TURN ONTO A SIDE ROAD OR AFTER BRAKING TO A SLOW SPEED WHILE DRIVING AFTER WHICH I NORMALLY REACCERLATE. THIS IS A 5.7 L I-FORCE V8, 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANS.
IT LOSES POWER, MY 2009 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH LESS THAN 90,000 MILES , JUST DECELERATES AND WENT DOWN TO 30 MILES PER HOUR IN THE FREEWAY, I USED A CARMD READING TO GIVE ME A CODE, AND IT SHOWS THAT THE CODE WAS P2442, IT WILL COST ME $2,500 OR MORE TO FIX IT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO OVERHEATED AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER AND HELENA TOYOTA (3365 US-12, HELENA, MT 59601, (406) 442-6310) OF THE FAILURE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,544.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY TO APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SWITCHED TO LIMP MODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LITHIA TOYOTA OF MISSOULA (LOCATED AT 4001 BROOKS ST, MISSOULA, MT 59804) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SECONDARY INJECTION PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PUMP WAS EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY TURNED SOFT AND GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN BEFORE IT STARTS TO GRAB. PUT IN NEW PADS ALL AROUND, NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND HAD SYSTEM COMPLETELY BLED, PROBLEM STILL THERE. CHECKED OUT TOYOTA TUNDRA FORUMS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM ON THESE TRUCKS, ONLY HAS 63,000 MILES. EVERYONE SAYS THAT IT IS AN ABS MODULE PROBLEM COSTING OVER $2000.00 TO FIX.
AIR INJECTION SYSTEM FAILED WHILE DRIVING UP HILL. VEHICLE WOULD ONLY DRIVE ON FLAT OR DOWNHILL, NO MORE THAN 35 MPH. TOYOTA HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 10 YRS OR 150K. WHICH OUR VEHICLE IS 103K AND 10 YEARS 1 MONTH. TOYOTA WOULD NOT FIT US INTO THE WARRANTY.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the TPMS replaced however, the vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V185000 (Tires) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR FAULTY SPIRAL CABLES EFFECTING AIRBAG MALFUNCTION ON MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 COROLLA, 2009-2010 MATRIX, 2008-2010 HIGHLANDER, 2009-2010 TACOMA, 2006-2008 RAV4 AND 2006-2010 YARIS VEHICLES. MY 2009 TUNDRA CREWMAX THAT I JUST BOUGHT HAS THIS PROBLEM AND HAS HAD IT FOR TWO YEARS ACCORDING TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER. WHY IS THE TUNDRA LEFT OUT OF THESE RECALLS WHEN OBVIOUSLY IT IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL TOYOTA AUTOS IN THIS TIME PERIOD
I HAD THE ACCELERATOR STICK TWO TIMES RECENTLY. MY TIRES SPUN VERY FAST AND I ALMOST TOOK OFF INTO A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF I DIDN'T QUICKLY PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL UNTIL THE ENGINE REVVED DOWN. THIS IS A HELPLESS FEELING AND SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THE TRUCK.
REPORTING A SAFETY ISSUE REGARDING THE ECM, WIRE HARNESS, AND A SENSOR ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION. IN PARTICULAR, A TRANSMISSION SENSOR FAILED AND ALLOWED A TRANSMISSION FLUID TO WICK ITS WAY THROUGH THE WIRE HARNESS AND INTO THE COMPUTER FOR THE TRUCK. IN THIS CASE, THIS CAUSED THE TRUCK'S STARTER TO ENGAGE WHEN THE LIGHTS FOR THE VEHICLE WERE TURNED ON, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THE TRUCK WAS ALREADY RUNNING. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP RUNNING, EVEN WHEN THE KEY WAS DISENGAGED FROM THE IGNITION. UPON ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THE DAYLIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, THE TRUCK DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY STREET, JUST AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER HAVING THE TRUCK FOR A FEW DAYS, THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD GOTTEN INTO THE COMPUTER AND THAT THIS WAS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE FOR THE PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME THE COMPUTER, TURNED IT UPSIDE DOWN, AND I COULD SEE THE FLUID DRIPPING OUT. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WAS $3,855.95. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE, WHICH WAS DENIED CITING THE FACT THAT THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. TOYOTA DID NOT ISSUE A WRITTEN RESPONSE, AND I SIMPLY RECEIVED A PHONE CALL TO TELL ME THAT THE CLAIM WAS DENIED. I EXPLAINED THAT AN ISSUE SUCH AS THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT AND THIS FLUID COULD HAVE BEEN LEAKING INTO THE COMPUTER FOR YEARS. THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT CARE ABOUT THIS FACT OR THE POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH FLUID GETTING INTO THE TRUCK'S COMPUTER. A FAULTY COMPUTER, DAMAGED BY TRANSMISSION FLUID COULD CAUSE A NUMBER OF SAFETY ISSUES. IN THE CASE OF MY TRUCK, IT WAS THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE DURING A FIVE MILE TRIP TO WORK AND IS STILL ON. THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REVEALED A FAULT IN AN AIR VALVE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS PART BECAUSE OF A KNOWN ISSUE AFFECTING THE SAME YEAR/MAKE/MODEL AS MY TUNDRA. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK ABOUT THE REPAIR PROCESS AS I WAS WITHIN THE 10 YEAR/150K MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD. THEY STATED THE PART WAS REPLACED IN 2014. I WAS THEN DIRECTED TO CALL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THE PART WAS ALREADY REPLACED. I DO NOT HAVE FAITH THAT REPLACING THE PART WILL FIX MY TRUCK IN THE LONG RUN. TOYOTA OBVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED A FAULT WITH THEIR TRUCKS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON A KNOWN BAD PART. BUT, THIS DID NOT FIX THE TRUCK. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS COME BACK AGAIN AFTER THE PART WAS REPLACED AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ONLY FOUR YEARS AGO. I BELIEVE THAT EVEN IF I HAVE THE TRUCK FIXED, THE PROBLEM WILL PERSIST EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS. I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR REPLACING THE PART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM FAILED. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND HAULING A LOADED TRAILER, ACCORDING TO THE ESTIMATED CAPACITY, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND CAUSED THE TRAILER AND THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL. THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM ENGAGED AND FAILED TO STABILIZE THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DITCH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 187,000.
