I ARRIVED AT WORK AND WAS GOING TO PARK IN MY DEDICATED PARKING SPOT. I HAD TO TURN TO THE LEFT AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL ACCORDINGLY, BUT A CAR WAS APPROACHING FROM THE FRONT SO I STOPPED AND WAITED FOR IT TO PASS. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR SHOT FORWARD AS IF THE GAS PEDAL HAD BEEN STEPPED ON VERY HARD. I HAD ABOUT 50 FEET TO THE BUILDING AND WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO CORRECT THE STEERING WHEEL FROM THE TURNED POSITION AND STRAIGHTEN THE WHEELS TO AVOID HITTING THE BUILDING FULL-ON. AS I HIT THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING THE CAR CAME TO A STAND STILL, BUT THE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING AT FULL REVS. I MANAGED TO FORCE THE CAR OUT OF GEAR, BUT THE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING AT HIGH REVS. I KEPT PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN AS HARD AS I COULD, AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING ELSE, THE ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL REVS. THE CAR WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED AS WAS THE BUILDING. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN THAT I MANAGED TO CORRECT THE STEERING IN THAT SHORT DISTANCE, AND HIT THE BUILDING FULL-ON, THE PILLARS THAT HOLD UP THE WHOLE FRONT OF THE BUIDING WOULD HAVE COLAPSED ON THE CAR. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND HAVE A 9 PAGE PRINTOUT OF EXACTLY THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER DRIVERS. THIS IS A TREMENDOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
OUR BACK DOOR FROM DRIVERS SIDE DOES NOT WANT A OPEN ( WITH KEY, MANUALLY NOR WITH INSIDE BUTTON. WINDOW OPENS NOT SURE IF IT LOCKS. JUST STOPPED WORKING ALL OF A SUDDEN, GOT OUT OF GROCERIES AND OPENING TO PUT BAGS AND NOTHING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED RUSSELL WESTBROOK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF VAN NUYS AT (818) 646-2364 (LOCATED AT 6110 VAN NUYS BLVD, VAN NUYS, CA 91401) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V235000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR HAS BECOME STUCK IN A CLOSED AND LOCKED CONDITION. NOTHING I DO, WHETHER ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONIC, OR MECHANICAL, WILL UNLOCK OR OPEN THE DOOR. THIS OCCURRED THE LAST TIME THE DOOR WAS CLOSED AND LOCKED (CAR WAS STATIONARY, OF COURSE). FUSES HAS BEEN CHECKED. THE DOOR IS EFFECTIVELY UNAVAILABLE AS A MEANS OF EGRESS IN EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SMOKING ENGINE COMPARTMENT, DEFECTIVE A/C AND RAMP DOOR. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE'S FAILURES BEGAN WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF OWNING IT. WHILE DRIVING , ALL ELECTRICAL POWER SHUT OFF. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND BEGAN TO SMOKE EXCESSIVELY WITH WATER GUSHING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE HORN RANDOMLY WENT OFF AND WAS DISABLED BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP SIMULTANEOUSLY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE VEHICLE WENT FORWARD INSTEAD AND STALLED OUT.*JS

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE REAR HATCH DOOR AND THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH KEY ENTRY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR HATCH DOOR MOTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
THE REAR LIFT GATE ON MY MINI-VAN OPENED FULLY THEN CAME CRASHING DOWN. IT MISSED MY HEAD BUT HIT MY SHOULDER. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SEVERE INJURY TO AN ADULT OR SMALL CHILD. THE LIFT GATE NOW WILL OPEN FULLY THEN COME CRASHING DOWN BECAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE PART.
THE LEFT SIDE HANDLE WITH THE AUTO SHUT PULLED OUT ON THE BACK SIDE. SO NOW IT HARD TO OPEN AND IT WILL NOT SHUT UNLESS I SECURE THE BACK PORTING INTO THE HANDLE AGAIN. IT HAPPENED WHEN IT FROZE. I PULLED THE HANDLE AND CRACKED OFF THE BACK PART.
SMALL PLASTIC PIECE THAT CONNECTS THE SLIDING DOOR CABLES TO THE TRACK CABLE BROKE RENDERING DOOR IMMOVABLE BY REMOTE. THERE IS ONE HEX BOLT THAT ATTACHES THIS PIECE TO TRACK. THIS HAS BEEN REPLACED PREVIOUSLY ON BOTH OF THE DOORS ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS TIME IT'S THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

THE REAR HATCH SUDDENLY CLOSED AND THE CONTACT'S SON WAS HIT ON THE HEAD. THE REAR HATCH FELL VERY RAPIDLY AND FORCEFULLY. THE CONTACT'S SON DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES DURING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO KEEP THE REAR HATCH OPEN AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, WHERE BOTH REAR HATCH PROPS WERE FOUND AS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AS THE DEFECTIVE PARTS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 62,596.

A CHILD WAS CAUGHT IN BETWEEN THE SLIDING DOOR WHILE IT WAS CLOSING. THE SENSOR WAS SUPPOSED TO STOP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING WHEN THERE WAS AN OBSTRUCTION BUT IT DID NOT. THE CHILD SUFFERED ABDOMINAL AND HEAD INJURIES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER REPAIRED THE SLIDING DOORS BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER A REMEDY REPAIR FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

ALSO STATED THAT THE COMPARTMENT IS VERY SHARP ON THE EDGE. *LN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE SLIDING WAS OPEN, HE LEANED INSIDE THE VEHICLE SLIGHTLY AND THE TOP OF HIS HEAD CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE OPEN DOOR OF THE OVERHEAD COMPARTMENT. *JB
RECEIVED A HEAD INJURY FROM A PARKED VEHICLES OVERHEAD CONSOLE. THE HEAD INJURY REQUIRED THE RESPONSE OF AN AMBULANCE DUE TO BLOOD LOSS. ALSO REQUIRED USE OF SURGICAL GLUE UNDER TO CAR OF A DR TO CLOSE THE WOUND. *JS CENTER CONSOLE OVERHEAD COMPARTMENT IS VERY SHARP ON ITS EDGE AND CAN INFLECT SUBSTANTIAL INJURE. IN MY CASE THE SLIDING DOOR WAS OPEN AND WHEN I LEANED IN TO THE VEHICLE SLIGHTLY AND THE TOP OF MY HEAD CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE OPEN DOOR OF THE OVERHEAD COMPARTMENT. THE EDGE OF THE COMPARTMENT CAUSED A VERY DEEP HEAD WOUND.

THE RIGHT REAR POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY FAILS TO LATCH PROPERLY AND DOES NOT NOTIFY THE OPERATOR OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE DOOR WILL FAIL TO OPERATE IN THE CLOSING OPERATION WITH THE POWER SLIDING OPTION AND REQUIRES OPERATOR INTERVENTION TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR. IN MANY INSTANCES WHEN THE DOOR FAILS TO CLOSE PROPERLY, IIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR TO GET THE LATCH MECHANISM TO ENGAGE. THE FAILURE OF THE DOOR TO LATCH CONSTITUTES A SAFETY CONCERN. THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO WARNING INDICATOR TO NOTIFY THE OPERATOR THAT THE DOOR HAS NOT LATCHED POSES A SEVERE SAFETY RISK TO THE OCCUPANTS. THE ONLY NOTIFICATION THE OPERATOR RECEIVES DURING THIS MALFUNCTION IS INCREASED ROAD NOISE DUE TO POOR SEALING BETWEEN THE DOOR AND DOOR FRAME. OCCUPANTS COULD BE EJECTED FROM THE UNLATCHED DOOR. THE MANUFACTURERS REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE CONCERN AND HAS FAILED TO PROPERLY ADDRESS THE CONCERN OR SHOWN ANY INTEREST IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE. OTHER OWNERS OF CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VEHICLES HAS STATED THAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR CONCERNS WITH THEIR POWER SLIDING REAR DOORS. *TR
